“You what! What the hell, Ash? Why didn't you tell me?” Lindsey snapped as she heard Ashley mention her ex-husband's name in the room.
“Calm down Lin, what was I supposed to say to you? We just met accidentally at the airport, his son actually…” “His son! He has a son with that… That son of a b**ch! What's he doing in Washington?” Lindsey cursed, as she ran her hands through her hair. Ashley understood her friend's reaction, she wished she could react in the same way. “I don't know Lin, I told you we met accidentally,” Ashley explained, the scene replaying in her mind. If that little boy wasn't there, she had a feeling things would get heated up. She couldn't get her mind off the hungry look he nailed on her face throughout that moment. And like witchcraft, she couldn't help but welcome it. “Right, then I think we better keep you away from him,” Lindsey suggested but saw how far gone in thoughts Ashley already was. It was clear there were some ties still not severed between the old lovers. “You know what? Um… Do you have any shifts at the hospital?” Lindsey directed the question to Ashley who shook her head, finally her mind rejoining the conversation. “No, why?” Ashley answered, looking at Lindsey in a peculiar way. Lindsey smiled sheepishly, “then let's go out to my favorite club in the city, just you and me, what do you say?” Ashley opened her mouth to protest, but Lindsey beat her to it. “I'll take your silence as a yes, and you owe it to me because you literally ignored me in the entire drive from the airport,” Lindsey manipulated, making Ashley chuckle at her moves. “Okay then, let's move it, but let's get back early, I have an early day tomorrow,” Ashley said, knowing she needed the drink to clear her mind. “No biggie in fact it's not like you're going to get fired, you're the boss remember?” Lindsey jested tapping her friend's shoulder. “Um… it's not official yet, but you're right,” Ashley said, smiling at her friend. “Of course I am, you know I will never understand why you declined a full-time job at the hospital just to set up your own foundation?” Lindsey argued, making Ashley roll her eyes at her. She got that a lot, from most people, but the Foundation meant the world to her. “I saw that… Now let's get you something nice to wear, you need to get laid gal,” Lindsey said, making Ashley feel warmth flush her cheeks. Meanwhile, at the hotel, Jordan ran his hands through his hair in frustration as he thought of everything that had happened. Nothing was ever the same since Ashley left, yet he couldn't change anything. The thought of life giving him a second chance to see her again made him feel chills travel through his spine. How his heart beats increased on seeing her, even after all those years. A phone beeping pulled Jordan out from his thoughts, making him realize his cell phone had been buzzing for a few minutes, yet he didn't hear it. “Yooh, how have you been man?” an excited male voice asked, making Jordan smile. “I’m dead?” Jordan answered sarcastically, causing the man on the other line to laugh out loud. “Still the same, I stopped by your place and I heard you'd travelled, man…” “Yeah Luke we had to go, but I'll be back soon, how was Boston anyway?” Jordan asked, ready to hear something that would possibly cheer him up. “How about I tell you over drinks, Jee?” Luke suggested, making Jordan furrow his brows in confusion. “But I already told you I'm not…” “And who said I'm not in Washington already? Did you think I would let you have all the fun by yourself?” Luke asked, laughing out, making Jordan smile even broader. “How about we meet at my club tonight, let's have some fun,” Luke proposed ending the call. Jordan knew Luke well to know he had to reach out as soon as he heard they were there. He wanted to have a quiet visit to and fro the hospital, but a little enjoyment couldn't hurt. The club was lit as people shouted and danced. Women rubbing their behind on anything they could find as their bodies synced to the music in the room. Ashley had not had time to join such places for a long time after she had the triplets. All her life focused on reconstructing herself and caring for her kids. “Are you sure this is a good idea?” Ashley asked, raising her, so Lindsey could hear her in the loud music. “Just relax Ash, we're going to have some fun, and I've got good news too,” Lindsey shouted back, placing her hand on Ashley's shoulder. “And what's that?” Ashley retaliated, looking at her curiously. Lindsey smiled at her but turned to take their order before answering her friend's question. “We would love to have whiskey shots to celebrate, please,” Lindsey gave her order as she bit her lips seductively at the bartender. “Oh really and what's the occasion hunnie,” the bartender dragged on, taking the bait. Lindsey chuckled lightly before leaning towards the man and whispering something that made the man's eyes grow wide, but the lust in them couldn't be concealed. As Lindsey walked back to Ashley she smiled saying, “I'm getting transferred to Washington permanently gal, so me and you, it's going to be a long long…” “What? You're coming here for good, I thought you loved being in NY?” Ashley argued, feeling excited about the news but yet confused. “You should be happy, that way I can even speed things up between you and Danton, you guys are never going to f**k without some pushing around,” Lindsey said chuckling loudly as she swallowed her third shot. Ashley felt her face turn red from her comment, “that's not true, he's like my brother.” “Ooh really then, I'll find you someone who'll f**k some sense into you tonight, you know like the bartender…” Lindsey pushed on, stealing a glance at the man who couldn't stop staring at her. “I swear if you don't stop that I'll…” “You'll do nothing gal, we both know you miss some action, so let go,” Lindsey said, shaking her shoulder lightly. Ashley smiled as if a sudden thought invaded her mind. “You know what, you're right, I need some Me time,” she said as she stood up swiftly. The urge to visit the restroom pressing on her bladder. Her head felt hazy as she swayed trying to place her feet on the ground firmly. “Carefully, gal, what are you up to? Have you already spotted your stud?” Lindsey inquired, looking at her. “Relax, I'll just use the bathroom real quick, then maybe I'll start my search?” Ashley said, making small steps towards the restroom. They had visited this club multiple times whenever Lindsey came to visit. “Don't be that quick, you know…” Lindsey answered, wiggling her brows at the bartender who oddly had stopped serving his attention solely on Lindsey. “Knock yourself out gal,” Ashley jested before squeezing her way through the crowd. A familiar set of eyes caught her attention, making Ashley feel shivers travel through her skin. She blinked and looked again and like she anticipated it was the alcohol getting to her head. Unknowing to her, someone had already spotted her, and it was not just the whiskey. Ashley quickly finished her business, stopping by the sink to wash her face when the unmistakable image of someone she thought she saw earlier stood behind her through the mirror. “What the heck?” Ashley cursed, rubbing her eyes before looking again, but this time there was no mistaking, he was there. Ashley turned around quickly in shock but was swung gently and pinned against the wall in an instant. “Hello love…” he said, his mouth inches away from hers and his body pinned against her, making Ashley feel like screaming in both shock and surprise.Luke felt frustrated as Jordan couldn't pick his phone trying it on more time not realizing it was calling from a dustbin container. “Come on, man pick up,” Luke muttered, fidgeting with his fingers. After realizing there was response at all. He quickly dialed another number, “hello, Ashley I have to tell you something.” Ashley shrugged her shoulders putting the phone on speaker for Lindsey to hear. “What is it Luke, we're listening,” Ashley said as they both listened attentively. “Look, I've been trying to call Jordan, but he's not picking up, and…” Luke said in panic, but Ashley couldn't hide back her words as she interrupted him. “Funny because he called me just ten minutes ago,” Ashley said, her voice full of scorn and mockery. “Ashley you're not listening, Jordan is in danger, the woman who was selling him the villa is an imposter,” Luke said as he paused as if letting the information sink in. “Villa? What Villa?” Ashley asked, feeling confused as to why Jordan would be
The sirens died down, the atmosphere clearing off the danger. Ashley released a breath she didn't even know she held as she heard the shooter had escaped, but the police were in pursuit. Luke walked towards her, his body looking tense from the sudden attack. The guests out in the parking lot were lucky to have not been shot. Inside the hotel, Lindsey and the other guests held their hearts in their hands, silently praying for safety. “We have to talk,” Luke said, helping Ashley up from behind a car where she had taken cover. Ashley nodded with her panicked and aching heart at a loss. As the environment was announced safe, the guests finally let out sighs of relief. Lindsey ran out in panic to check on her husband and her best friend. Hamilton followed, his horrified face telling it all. As they all embraced and confirmed each other's safety, Hamilton shrugged his shoulders. “Are the children okay?” Ashley asked, looking at her dad in fear. “Yeah, actually I just got a message t
Lindsey walked up to Ashley, who was standing waiting for her with a smile on her face. “Shady business, huh? That was your cover-up, really?” Lindsey mocked as she went to her, her question making them both laugh. “I know, you know I'm not good at hiding things,” Ashley said, hugging her tightly. “Congratulations sweetheart, it seems we have a wedding to plan,” Ashley said excitedly, but the worry in her voice was unmistakable. “Thanks sweetie,” Lindsey asked, but she couldn't miss the slight smile on Ashley's face as if something were disturbing her. “What is it, Ash?” Lindsey asked, holding her arms. “It's nothing, I just miss Jordan, it's been two weeks, and he still hasn't mentioned anything about coming back from the trip,” Ashley pointed out, her eyes portraying her worry. “I'm sure he'll come back, I heard Luke say something about him getting tied down by something important,” Lindsey let out, making Ashley feel her heart slightly hurt. ‘Why would he tell Luke and not
The two friends paved outside the bathroom door feeling anxious. The sound of the timer went off making them stand at attention as if they were policemen on duty. “That's it, go in and check Lin,” Ashley said, nagging her hand forward. “No, I think you should check Ashley,” Lindsey refused blatantly, looking at her friend in worry. “Okay, how about we go in together?” Ashley suggested making them walk into the bathroom slowly. Ashley let her eyes fall on the two kits laying on the sink. Seeing two lines on it, she gasped loudly. Lindsey, on the other hand, looked away from the sink feeling scared and tense. “Lin look!” Ashley exclaimed excitedly but found her looking the other way. Shrugging her shoulders she soothed Lin's back, “sweetheart, you have to turn and see, what's the matter?” Ashley asked, holding her in concern. “Well I don't know if I'm ready to be disappointed Ash, I really want this to be it,” Lindsey said, her eyes swelling up in tears. “Only one way to find ou
Ashley rushed down the stairs quickly as she planned for the big day ahead. After tossing and turning for the better part of the night she came up with something. Lindsey at first thought it was crazy and rushed, but Ashley wanted to at least make something memorable before they left. Her eyes caught Jordan, who was surprisingly quiet except for the kiss he placed on her lips before he left the room. “Hey, love,” she greeted, noticing he was donned in a going out outfit. “Heey, you're awake early after the long night?” Jordan pointed out as he kissed her on the lips passionately. “Yeah, so are you. Heading out?” Ashley asked, looking at him from head to toe. Jordan laughed nervously, brushing it off bluntly, “No, your dad wants me to accompany him to town to run some errands.” “Ooh that's good,” Ashley replied, not wishing to talk too much. Jordan looked at her, his face gloomy as if something were disturbing him. He felt like he always felt on this very day every year: Alone.
At the dinner table, Ashley and Jordan kept stealing glances at each other. The sexual tension between them, undeniable. “Mommy, you promised we would have a movie night before we left,” Brandon said, looking at his mom with pouty lips. “Yeah mom, you promised,” Shane chipped in clasping his hands together. Ashley bit her lips, considering the big plans they had for tonight. “Sweetheart I don't think tonight's a good time for that, how about we do it after we get back to the city?” Ashley suggested hoping the kids would accept. “No, you promised, and you always tell us it's bad to break promises,” Brenda protested, making Lindsey nudge Ashley's arm playfully. Looking over to Jordan, Ashley was stunned to see him pretending to mind his own business as he chewed on his steak. Receiving no reinforcement on the table, Ashley chuckled, “okay, you can have the movie night, a promise is a promise.” She pointed out, biting her lip as she swore to make Jordan suffer for leaving her in t
