Lisa's pov
I dragged my heavy feet on the ground to the only place I found peace and comfort. My life has been filled with sadness but at least I'm not really that lonely. “Fiona” I called out weakly, banging on her door before slumping to the floor. I closed my eyes waiting for her to open up. The door creaked open a few seconds later and she peeped outside. “Lisa?” She called out, opening the door fully as she bent down to my level. “I feel empty” I muttered to her in tears, resting my head on the iron frame. She wiped my eyes clean with her cloth, patting my head slowly. “Let's go inside” she muttered helping me up as she guided me inside. “Did you get the whip again?” She asked slowly after helping me settle down in the chair. “Can I get a glass of water please?” I asked slowly, shutting my eyes. I hate to be vulnerable but I can't keep acting so strong when it hurts so much. I let down the tears flow freely from my eyes. “Here I have it,” she muttered, handing me the glass cup of water. I gulped everything down my throat immediately then gave her a small smile. “Thank you” I muttered to her slowly. She nodded her head, sitting down beside me while she tapped her hand slowly on her thighs. I knew she was dying to ask so many questions. “You don't have to make your curiosity so obvious” I muttered to her, resting my head on her shoulder. “I'm dying over here to wish you a happy birthday and get to meet your wolf but here you are sulking like a toddler whose ice cream got stolen” she snapped back pushing my head off her shoulder. I couldn't help but smile at her simplicity. She's also an omega like me but yet she doesn't let anything fraze her or shake her worth. “I met my mate,” I blurted out. She squealed in joy, jumping up and down as she screamed in joy while I just shook my head. “Its Bryan Peters” I muttered and she stood frozen, her face went pale instantly as she slowly turned to face me. “Tell me that's a joke?” She asked, convincing herself that I'm just playing around like usual but I shook my head otherwise. She just stood there, frozen. Her lips didn’t twitch. Her lashes didn’t even blink. Like time had stopped just to mess with her brain. “Tell me that’s a joke?” she whispered again, staring at me like I’d just confessed to eating her last piece of roasted chicken. I shook my head slowly. She backed away like my presence was suddenly contagious. “Bryan Peters? As in, the Alpha’s golden egg, the bastard prince, the devil’s mini-me?” “Unfortunately, yes.” I muttered, dumping my head in my palms. Fiona placed her hand over her chest like she’d been shot. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” “I wish I was but then boom just like that my wolf recognized him and said the word,” I muttered, dragging the hem of her blanket to cover my legs. “Boom,” she repeated, blinking rapidly. “You look like you have seen a ghost” I said rolling my eyes. “So were you locked up and flogged because you were that spoiled brat’s mate?” She asked, pointing to my swollen hands while I shook my head. “I stole food and kind of rebelled against the Alpha which earned me some beating but do you know what's strange?” I asked, remembering the pains I went through. “What's that?” She asked, her curiosity piqued. “I was in the cell when I started feeling pain. It was like my bones were on fire. My stomach twisted so hard I couldn’t even scream. I thought I was dying. Alivia went quiet. Completely. Like the connection fried her too.” I explained, trying to demonstrate and at the same time point to the place where I felt the pains. Fiona’s eyes widened, and she slowly inched back beside me, then reached out to pet my arm like I was a stray cat that had just been kicked out of hell. “Maybe because I just met my wolf,” I added, shrugging my shoulders. “That wasn't from you meeting your wolf, Lisa. That was from him.” Fiona muttered, shaking her head. I turned my head to look at her. “Him? What do you mean?” I asked curiously. She hesitated, chewing on her lower lip like she was battling herself. Then she blurted, “He cheated.” My heart paused. “What?” “That pain? That gut-wrenching, body-snapping, wolf-retreating pain you felt? That’s what happens when your mate betrays the bond.” She exhaled slowly, like saying it out loud made her want to throw up. “If a newly bonded mate sleeps with someone else after the bond’s formed, especially while you're in emotional turmoil... The rejection hits hard. It's like getting half-marked and then set on fire.” she added, rubbing my hand slowly My mouth opened. Then closed. Then it opened again. “So while I was in that hellhole, probably passing out from starvation and pain—he was out there… screwing Potato Princess?” Fiona blinked. “Irene?” “Yes. The mashed up potato.” Fiona pressed her lips together, nodding. I gagged. “What the actual fu—” “He did it to break the bond,” Fiona said suddenly, her voice low. “It’s a trick. Some Alphas use it to reject a mate without saying the actual rejection words. That way, they don't get the full force of backlash.” “So… he fucked her. And I paid the price.” Fiona nodded, her expression dark. I was quiet for a few seconds, then turned to her slowly. “Do you think the moon goddess can un-match me?” “I don’t know. But if you pray hard enough, she might at least give him erectile dysfunction.” I burst out laughing. Painfully. I had to hold my ribs to keep from falling apart. “You’re a menace.” “I will try to be more mean.” she muttered dramatically. We sat in silence for a moment, both of us replaying the madness that just occurred. Fiona suddenly jumped to her feet. “Get up.” “Huh?” She pulled me by the arm. “I said get up. Enough crying, enough sulking. That cheating trash bag doesn’t get to have your tears and your broken spirit. We’re going out.” “Where?” “The club. Duh.”Bryan's POVI carried Irene in my arms, her body limp, her breath shallow, and blood still staining her lips. My chest tightened with every step I took out of that damned arena. Her head rested against my shoulder, but the weight of her felt heavier than any burden I had ever known. The crowd’s noise followed me out, their chants and mocking laughter stinging my pride like knives. They had hailed Lisa, a nobody compared to Irene, the daughter of Alpha Rowland, my wife, my pride—my responsibility.Yet there she was, nearly lifeless in my arms.I could barely hear anything except the sound of my heartbeat thundering in my ears. My wolf paced inside me, furious, restless, wanting blood, but I forced him back. This wasn’t the time. I had to get her to the infirmary, I had to save her.“Move out of the way!” I barked at the guards standing by the corridor. They immediately stepped aside, their eyes widening at the sight of Irene’s mangled body. Some of
Third person POVEnzo’s chest tightened as the roar of the crowd echoed in his ears, drowning every thought but the sight of Lisa sprawled in the middle of the bloodied ring. Her body looked lifeless, her chest rising and falling shallowly, her skin pale and slick with sweat. For a brief, chilling moment, he thought her spirit had already left her body. Without a second’s hesitation, he broke through the circle, shoving aside the wolves who crowded too close, his boots echoing against the wooden floor of the ring box as he reached her.“Lisa!” His voice cracked as he fell to his knees beside her, his arms slipping beneath her limp frame. She was drenched in blood—hers and Irene’s—but Enzo couldn’t tell which wound belonged to which. All he knew was that her pulse had to be there, had to still exist, or he would tear apart everyone in this place with his bare hands. He pressed his ear against her chest for half a heartbeat before relief slammed through him
Lisa's POVI could feel the crowd pressing in from all sides, their voices blending into one roaring wave of anticipation, mockery, and bloodlust. My hands were trembling, not out of fear but out of sheer awareness that this was no longer just a petty challenge. This was survival, pride, and the heavy weight of what it meant to be me — just an omega in their eyes, standing against Irene, a woman of royal blood. Her sneer cut deeper than any blade. “Do you think you can humiliate me by winning a game of archery, omega? You think that was real? That was luck. Nothing more.” Her voice dripped with venom as she stepped forward, shoulders squared, eyes blazing. “No ordinary omega can beat me.”The murmurs in the crowd grew louder, fueling her arrogance. I held my ground, staring straight at her. I wouldn’t bow, not today, not ever again.“If you’re so confident,” she snarled, “then let’s end this properly. A spar. A deadly one. If you win, I’ll grovel
The crowd was still buzzing with excitement from the archery competition when Irene’s voice cut through the air, sharp and venomous.“There’s no way an ordinary omega beat me,” she snapped, stepping forward with fury etched across her face. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her eyes darting to the murmuring crowd. “That result must be a joke. I demand another chance!”Lisa, still clutching the bow in her hand, lowered it slowly. She was breathing harder than she wanted anyone to notice, but she stood tall, refusing to cower. Her fingers trembled faintly before she clenched them tight to hide it.“Irene, the scores were announced,” Ash said, his tone cutting, almost mocking. “Lisa didn’t just beat you. She destroyed you.”A wave of laughter rippled through the spectators. Some clapped, others jeered, but it only made Irene’s face twist even more. Her pride was pierced, and her lips curled in rage.“You think this is funny?” Irene’s voice ro
Third person POVEnzo threw his head back and burst out laughing, the sound booming through the grand hall like thunder rolling over an open field. His laughter was contagious, loud enough to pull every eye back to him as he took the mic from the stand with practiced ease. His shoulders still shook with mirth, but when he finally steadied his breathing, his smile stretched wide across his face, warm and mischievous all at once.“All right, Kael,” Enzo said, his deep voice resonating through the hall, “if that is truly your wish, then so be it. Everyone here, listen carefully. I want to make this absolutely clear.”He paused deliberately, watching as the crowd leaned in, waiting. Kael, standing just a few steps away, was already grinning from ear to ear like a child who had just gotten away with the most outrageous prank.“I love this stubborn, reckless, never-silent fool right here,” Enzo declared, pointing straight at Kael. His words carried auth
Third person POVThe hall had grown brighter as the second segment of the celebration began. The guests were buzzing with anticipation, their voices carrying from one end of the room to the other. The earlier formalities had passed, the speeches and ceremonies completed, and now came the part everyone seemed to have been waiting for—the games of wit, tradition, and competition. The announcer’s voice echoed through the large hall as he called for all alphas willing to compete in the traditional contest. The rules were simple: the victor would be granted a single wish, one that Alpha Enzo himself would honor publicly. It was more than just a game; it was a chance to test pride, knowledge, and political cunning in front of peers and rivals alike.Bryan’s eyes glistened sharply at the invitation. He straightened his shoulders, adjusting the gold-embroidered hem of his ceremonial attire, and rose from his seat. His pack members immediately noticed the intensity
