Chapter Five

Third Person POV

The two older guys sat by the lake with their fishing hooks in the water but their minds wandering. They were both lost in thoughts, trying to understand why their perfect plan backfired. To Elise, he raised a good son with great standards and he feels Mila fits that standard whiles Chris thought that he has such a beautiful daughter who can't be resisted by any man. But how come she got resisted by the one person he had always wanted her to get married to?. He worried that if his daughter doesn't marry Bentley, she wouldn't be able to get married ever, since she pushes all eligible suitors away. But is he ready to push his will on her? he mentally nodded telling himself that it is for her own benefit.

"I know she would thank me one day." He smiled bringing his mind back to the fishing activity.

"I am sorry for my son's behavior yesterday. I am so ashamed." Elise apologized with his head bowed in shame.

"No Elise, you shouldn't be sorry. My daughter also misbehaved. They are both ungrateful kids."

"I agree with you brother. They don't care about us nor the family. They only care about themselves."

"But what if we make them start caring? What if we bring them together?"

"Come on Chris, They detest each other."

"I know they do. I saw that yesterday but we live in a world where everything is possible. What if we can do something to bring them closer."

"Hmmm! you have a point but what can we do?"

Chris looked to the left, then to the right, watching to see if anyone was around before urging Elise to get closer to him. He whispered to him, making sure that if anyone was within close range, that person wouldn't hear his perfect plan B.

"That is brilliant! There is no way they can escape each other."

"That's right Elise. I am sure this plan will never fail. It will accomplish the task of bringing our kids together."

They both had a silly grin on their faces as if they have won the ultimate lottery. Of course, this was more than a lottery to them: It was the future of their kids.

Mila's POV

"You mean your dad did that?" Alice asked, still not believing that my boss' dad and my dad are best friends.

"I just told you he did. He settled my marriage to that stupid jerk without even my consent."

"But that is not a bad idea."

"What isn't?" I asked, daring her to repeat what she said and she sure did.

"I don't see it as a bad idea. Bentley is hot and if I wasn't married, I would have proposed to him."

"Ewww! girl that is disgusting. A woman proposing to a guy? in this case an arrogant guy?"

"There is nothing wrong with that. And you know I can do it." She defended rolling her eyes at me.

I chuckled finding it ridiculous. "I would never propose to a guy even if I have to do it to save my dear life."

"Whatever. Damn girl these pancakes taste great. Can I order more?"

I laughed out heartily for the first time in two days. My friend knows how to suck me dry. We were currently at Mac B, one of the most expensive breakfast diner here. As it is, the bill is on me since I invited her to tell her about my predicament. I thought she would support me but what was I thinking?. This girl has been pestering me about getting a guy so what made me stupidly think that she would support me get rid of the idea of marrying my boss?

"Sure you can. I can't deny you can I?

She let out a giggle like a child. When it comes to food, she behaves like a kid.

"So Mila dear, when are we going to pick up the wedding dress?" She winked bringing her tongue out for a brief moment.

"Please stop taunting me. There will be no wedding."

"How are things between you and Collins?" I asked taking the focus away from me

"Hmm, we have done a couple of tests but there seems to be nothing wrong with any of us. The doctors can't even understand why I can't get pregnant. Maybe I'm not meant to be a mother." she uttered, close to tears point.

"No don't say that. Never be discouraged. I am sure you two will come up with something. There is always the option of adoption."

"I know but I want to feel that feeling other women have when they are pregnant. I want to feel a baby kick within me. I want to have morning sickness and cravings. I want to be able to worry my husband to massage me and insult him when I have mood swings. I want to be able to watch my tummy grow into a bump each passing week. You know, that whole special thing about pregnancy."

"I know it's devastating when you have been trying for three years to have a baby but calm down. It's not good for you to be stressing yourself over this. Thank God you have a supporting husband who loves you all the same with or without a baby." She nodded getting back to her food. This girl never ceases to amaze me. Just a second ago she was about crying. Now, she is eating as if nothing happened.

"So will you be going back to work for Bentley?"

"I don't know. He hasn't asked me to come back himself."

"But you told me he said it back at your parents' house."

"Yes, he did. But after what happened, I am not sure he would want me to. I wouldn't even feel comfortable."

"So you going to quit?"

"I really don't know." I answered truthfully. Torn between two decisions

"Whatever you decide, remember you need the money and that hot boss."

"Ah Alice, this is the reason why I sometimes think twice about telling you stuff that's going on with me."

"I am sorry but I am excited that my virgin friend will be getting married soon and that cherry will be popped."

"In your dreams girl. In your dreams."

"Thanks for coming girl, even though it was not of much help since you are supporting dad. I have to go now. Want to catch some sleep."

"Bae wait a little longer. Tomorrow is Sunday, you can have all the rest you want. Now tell me, How did Bentley react when he heard the news?"

"No! no! we are not going to talk about this again."

"Oh please I want to know. I promise I won't talk about this again if you tell me."

"Hmm promise?"

"Yeah, cross my heart." She gestured moving her hand in the air, drawing a cross.

"Good, because I regret telling you in the first place. When he heard it, we got into a heated argument and he walked out, but not before saying that he wouldn't marry a stupid, lazy arrogant fool."

"Woo woo woo, he fucking said that?"

"Girl are you deaf?"

"No, but I find it difficult to believe that he insulted you right before your parents and his."

"Then start believing it because it happened. Now do as you promised and never bring this up again."

"But....."

"No buts Alice, i am serious." I gestured to the waiter to bring me the bill

"Okay. But........"

"Hmmmm hmm. Have a good day bestie." I stood up. Placing a hundred dollar bill on the table.

"Same to you Mrs. Bentley Cohen!" she called out when I got to the door.

I could feel eyes on me making me embarrassed. I hope they don't believe this. I certainly don't want my face to be in newspapers the next day.

My boss is quite popular and had made a huge name for himself. So it's no new thing that he lives his life on the social eye. The paparazzi and bloggers are much more interested in what goes on in his life. They cover almost everything, from his businesses to his mansions and cars, to his awards, red carpet moments and one thing they are waiting eagerly for is the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. It's such a wonder that the richest bachelor has no lady in his life and I won't deny that every jaw drops when he passes by. The photos in magazines and newspapers don't do him enough justice, making people including men gush over him when they see him in reality. But I obviously am not one of his fans. I would not lower myself for him to step on like a rug. I pity my colleagues that try their best then get rejected and disgraced by him. I wish they could see him for the devil that he is.
