"Is he the one you're going to kill next?"
The sentence struck Ravi with a sudden jolt of surprise. It was clear that this man was engaging in a nonsensical conversation, but Ravi trusted Raymond enough to believe he wouldn't do such a thing, right? Ravi himself wasn't entirely sure. But who was this man that made Ravi doubt Raymond?
"Who is he?" Ravi interrupted as Raymond sat in his open room, perched on a small red sofa in the corner. Raymond seemed startled from his reverie when Ravi asked that question.
He glanced at Ravi, his expression indecipherable. Was he afraid, worried, or something else? Ravi couldn't tell.
Raymond remained silent, his mouth tightly shut. Was this also part of his promise not to tell Ravi anything?
"Okay, it's your right not to speak." In the end, Ravi said it, though his heart desired otherwise, wanting to force Raymond to reveal everything he didn't know. But what if this man was right?
Ravi rubbed his nose bridge when he thought too much, and his throbbing head was becoming painful. He didn't know if his curiosity could make him feel like this.
"Ravi?"
"Hm?" Ravi mumbled, opening his eyes slightly, which he had just closed. Ravi found Raymond standing in front of him on his knees, staring at him with his different-colored eyes. "What's up?"
"Can I touch Ravi?"
Ravi frowned upon hearing that. "What for?"
Raymond's gaze dropped, leaving his long eyelashes casting shadows on his nose. "I just want to hold Ravi's hand for a moment."
There was a silence between them as Ravi couldn't quite comprehend what Raymond was asking for. But in the end, Ravi nodded, realizing that Raymond couldn't see him, and he immediately said, "Sure."
The next moment after Ravi said that single word, Raymond's eyes slowly rose as he caught Ravi's gaze, and his smile instantly brightened, creating a rosy blush on Ravi's cheeks as Raymond gently touched the tip of his fingers to the back of Ravi's hand, which lay in his lap.
Ravi involuntarily took a deep breath as Raymond's scent grew stronger around him, and Ravi had to keep his body upright, leaning against the chair's backrest to prevent himself from moving closer to Raymond. He watched how Raymond's fingers touched his hand so slowly as if it were fragile glass that could shatter at any moment. Then, with gentle care, Raymond turned Ravi's hand over and traced the lines on his palm until Raymond finally held Ravi's hand gently.
Ravi felt his cheek warming as Raymond's large, cold hand wrapped tightly around his. It wasn't just an ordinary grip; it felt like Raymond was conveying his emotions to Ravi. Ravi felt like crying right then and there. Especially when, in the end, Raymond looked up at him, sharing an expression that made Ravi feel like his heart was being squeezed by invisible hands.
As the grip tightened, Ravi was startled when a faint, white light appeared, resembling tendrils creeping from Raymond's right wrist, forming a beautiful, glowing inscription on his tan skin. Ravi glanced at Raymond and saw that he was just as surprised as he was, seemingly discovering it for the first time. Through that dim light, Ravi read the words, 'Pureza na Luz.' "What is this?"
Raymond appeared tense in his grip, as if awakening from his own reverie. He quickly pulled his hand away from Ravi, and the inscription on Raymond's skin disappeared as if blown away by the wind. Raymond's gaze rose to meet Ravi with confusion and disbelief. Ravi felt a little disappointed as the inscription vanished along with Raymond's hand, even before Ravi had a chance to admire it further.
"What just happened?" Ravi asked once more.
Raymond shook his head, his hair swaying as he did so. "It's the name of the kingdom where I come from, but, Ravi, the glowing mark is a symbol of the Pureza Na Luz royal family."
Ravi listened carefully to Raymond, his mind concluding. "So?"
Raymond seemed hesitant, his mouth opening only to be quickly shut. He stood up, looking restless, scanning the room and then returning his gaze to Ravi with furrowed eyebrows. "I'm nobody, Ravi. Nature must have made a mistake."
Ravi got to his feet, his hand floating to grasp Raymond's wrist, which had jerked upon his touch. Ravi held it gently and repeated to marvel at how the light reappeared, forming beautiful writing on Raymond's skin. Ravi then spoke, almost in a whisper, "Something as beautiful as this, how could it ever be a mistake?"
Ravi's left hand rose, tracing the cursive writing with his long fingers. His other hand felt the warmth slowly spreading across his skin from Raymond. "If you mean you're not part of it, let this happen. It means you're special, Raymond, with or without this."
Ravi continued to admire the dim light that shone before him. Suddenly, Ravi's hand felt drops of water there. Ravi's eyes rose to find Raymond crying silently with a trembling body. Had Ravi said something wrong to Raymond?
"I'm sorry, Raymond, perhaps my words were too harsh for you," he said, sounding anxious as he stood there, moving forward to place one of his hands on Raymond's shoulder.
"Ravi never made a mistake to me. It's just that no one has ever said that to me," he said weakly.
Ravi's mouth curved into a sincere smile. He lifted his hand from Raymond's shoulder and slowly released his other hand. He was a bit disappointed when the writing disappeared with an imaginary hissing sound in his head. Ravi marveled at how many things were related to Raymond, all like a beautiful magic that never bored Ravi to see more, and how the writing on Raymond's tan skin appeared due to the direct contact with Ravi, making Ravi's cheeks warm.
Ravi coughed softly, catching Raymond's attention. "What does the writing mean?"
"Pureza Na Luz means purity in light. It is the name of the kingdom where pure light elves, without any human crossbreeding, gather to form a kingdom. Every royal descendant and member of the kingdom who is a pure light elf is sure to have this mark visible when they make contact with their bonded mate. But Ravi, I am neither of them. I am not a royal descendant; I am a half-human elf, and the relationship between me and Ravi is more like that of a servant and his master."
Ravi listened to every word that came from Raymond's mouth carefully, and he was about to speak when he was abruptly interrupted.
"What nonsense are you saying?"
Ravi had just begun to open his mouth when his words were cut off even before he spoke. He immediately tensed, his head snapping towards the door. His mouth hung open as his eyes scanned, and Ravi found himself opening his mouth in surprise and relief, flooding every nerve in his body. "Daniel?"
"Daniel?" Ravi gasped, looking at Daniel standing at the door, his eyes locked sharply on Raymond.Ravi took a step forward, a mix of disappointment and joy welling up inside him as he saw Daniel, who now appeared to be okay. Ravi approached and made a sound to draw Daniel's attention, who seemed to have forgotten about Ravi standing there."Daniel? Where have you been?" Ravi asked, even though he already knew half of the truth about Daniel. Still, Ravi hoped for honesty.Daniel's eyes shifted to meet Ravi's iris, and an expression of surprise crossed his face as if he'd just realized Ravi was there too. Daniel opened his mouth, only to close it again, appearing confused in response to Ravi's question."Daniel?" Ravi called again."I was staying at a friend's house." It was true, and Ravi had suspected Daniel would lie. Daniel avoided Ravi's gaze, instead staring intently at Raymond. Ravi almost scoffed; he didn't like it when someone lied when the facts were so clear."I know you're l
"Your death is what will come first if you even touch my family."Ravi couldn't ignore how a pair of white wings suddenly emerged from behind the man's back, spreading wide and filling the narrow alley, causing Ravi to feel a suffocating sensation once again. Moreover, a strong and sharp scent began to assail his senses, making Ravi's legs feel weak, and causing him to slump to the ground, unable to resist. One of the man's sharp-toed shoes pressed against Ravi's shoulder to keep him in place. The man's voice began to creep back into the air. "Ending you now would be so easy, but where's the fun in that?"Ravi couldn't even open his mouth now as the pressure on him grew stronger. He couldn't move his body at the moment. Who is this person, really?"Adrian. Don't you want to know my name?" The man named Adrian said with a sarcastic tone, the pressure on Ravi's shoulder not decreasing at all. "Didn't your pet inform you about me?"Ravi's eyes narrowed as he jerked his head to see Adrian
Ravi slammed the door behind him and was startled to find Adrian floating by the window, his wings flapping, hands folded across his chest, wearing a smug expression. He knew all too well that this creature was the one responsible for the chaos Ravi had just experienced. Ravi quickly moved to the window, fists clenched in anger, a sharp gaze directed at him with disapproval. He opened the window with a loud creak. "You're the problem here."The man, still grinning in the same posture, made Ravi long to lash out at Adrian for using harsh words he had never directed at anyone else. Ravi had no idea how Adrian was capable of doing this to him, but the fact that this man with white wings was not human should have made it possible. Ravi heard a loud knock from outside his room and momentarily ignored it."Want me to put on a show? Unfortunately, not right now. We'll see tonight," the man said casually, but Ravi knew that something terrible was bound to happen to him later."What are you goi
"Ravi, can I ask you for something?" Raymond suddenly inquired amidst the long silence that had settled between them for the past few hours.Raymond remained steadfast and refused to leave Ravi's side, despite Ravi's repeated harsh dismissals. Even Daniel had left Ravi earlier.Ravi continued to lie in the same position, staying quiet, but he knew that eventually, Raymond would reveal his true intentions. "Can I stay here with Ravi?"Ravi immediately turned to face Raymond, his gaze sharp, yet he didn't say anything, merely searching for any expression he could find. However, under Ravi's scrutiny, Raymond appeared somewhat awkward this time. Raymond lowered his head, fidgeting with his fingers on his lap. Eventually, he spoke again, his voice nearly a whisper. "I just want Ravi to be okay."Ravi remained silent, not offering any response to Raymond's words. Instead, he was eager to say something to Raymond, but he found that he couldn't even move his own lips. Something must have gone
There was only the sound of clinking spoons and forks around Ravi, who had kept his lips sealed tight the whole time. He hoped that his parents never found out about the embarrassing incident he had just gone through, and he also hoped that his brother wouldn't say anything about it.Ravi felt restless inside but remained quiet, playing with his food. His lips hadn't touched the shapeless mess on his plate. Ravi's mind was in turmoil, and he couldn't stand being here any longer. Even his room felt very scared now, after repeatedly reliving the incident.Where could he go to calm himself down? Adrian would surely do it to Ravi again, maybe even crossing the previous limits, and Ravi couldn't resist, no matter how hard he tried, without Daniel being there."Where does Ravi want to go?" Daniel suddenly asked after Ravi stood up and began to walk out of the house.Ravi didn't try to turn around and heed the warning in the tone. Instead, he immediately spoke, devoid of any emotion. "Don't f
"Ravi's restless. I'm worried."This time, Ravi raised his eyebrow but didn't say anything until Raymond spoke again. "Ravi, I belong to Ravi. Ravi can tell me anything he wants me to do to make Ravi feel better."Ravi blinked, and with an automatic movement, he unbuttoned one of his pants. He then looked at Raymond with a grin. "In that case, make me feel satisfied.""Ravi?"Ravi himself was surprised by what he had just said. He wanted to shake his head and dismiss it, but his tongue felt stiff and unwilling to move as he desired. "Do what I say.""You're not Ravi."Raymond suddenly grabbed Ravi's hand and held it tightly, causing Ravi to feel like a cold shock had run through his body. Ravi jerked when he realized that he was no longer under Adrian's influence."What really happened to me?" Ravi asked, holding onto Raymond tightly, who was now looking at him with a clear expression of concern on his face. However, Raymond didn't respond as Ravi had hoped. Instead, he now averted his
"Raymond, do you think this is the best way?" Ravi asked as his hand grew weary from holding Raymond's hand like this for over an hour. Ravi also squirmed uncomfortably, not just from Raymond's grip but from the way their shoulders bumped in the dimly lit room amidst unused objects."Yeah, Ravi. Adrian can't break through this wall, and we're holding onto each other," Raymond replied, his voice growing softer with time. Ravi tried to ignore the fact that Raymond's eyes were now gleaming, reminding himself that he shouldn't care anymore, especially since they were both men."Are you happy?" Ravi asked casually."Yes, I get to be with Ravi, and Ravi touches me. I'm very happy."Ravi's grip tightened, and once again, tendrils of light began to emanate from Raymond's hand, never ceasing to amaze Ravi. "Can you do it again?""Of course, when our hands are interlocked like this, it will appear, Ravi."Ravi nodded and began to stretch his aching legs, searching for a comfortable position in h
Ravi was frozen and couldn't move a muscle as Raymond pressed their lips together. He was too preoccupied with processing what was happening, leaving Ravi powerless to pull his own lips away from the situation. It was Raymond himself who eventually pulled his head back while panting.Only their lips were touching, and nothing else. However, it was Ravi's first kiss, and it shouldn't have happened with another man like himself. So, why did Raymond do it?"What are you doing, Raymond?" Ravi asked abruptly, suddenly thinking that this might be the influence of Adrian. This made Ravi grip Raymond's hand tightly. "Were you influenced by Adrian too?"The pain in Raymond seemed to have disappeared as the man was no longer grimacing but leaned against the wall, catching his breath."Someone told me that if I broke my promise, I would end up in pain, and the only quick way to alleviate the pain was to kiss my owner," Raymond said, looking at Ravi seriously."What kind of rule is that? You can't
