Imagine, from a who knows where to landing to a strange place and getting imprisoned like an animal then being transported to someone’s room. Seriously, Byul felt like he was treated like a parcel.
Not only did the soldiers dragged him like a cattle in the journey, he was also casually thrown into a room. Who else wouldn’t pity himself like this. Byul instantly want to cry.
It was really painful! Walking miles underneath the scorching sun. No water no rest! Ugh! I’m already burnt!
Byul instinctively check his body and felt relieved after seeing that he was still the same. Good, good I’m still me.
Byul tried to break free from the rope in his hand and soon give up. The rope was too tight! Not to mention he couldn’t see how he was tied up. It’s quite impossible to break free.
Byul grumbled and lift his head to survey the room. There was a table in front of him with a stack of scrolls on it. A huge window behind the desk with a red curtain slightly parted to see the outside. There’s also some sort of cabinet beside the desk and he bet those must be some kind of keepsakes.
Byul also noticed the red carpet he was currently kneeling at. It seems that it was the study room of a duke or something. After all it was too modest for a king or a prince.
There were also some few traces of visits since there was a pair of cups on top of the desk. That person on the camp and the one in this room must be close. If not why would ‘that guy’ bring him here as a gift?
Byul deduced and nodded at himself.
He slowly stood up and walked towards the desk. There must be some clues about the place he’s currently in. Its hard to proceed without familiarizing himself you see.
And as expected, he really did found some clues.
The papers had some strange writings in it however, if you look closely enough it seems to be Chinese characters.
What? I’m in ancient China? Why didn’t you send Huanyi instead!
Byul cursed on his mind.
How can he understand this? He didn’t study Chinese! If its in English it could’ve been better however it wasn’t.
Byul rummage through the scrolls as he pry open them one by one using his tied hands.
There goes the cursed characters again and he really rolled his eyes to the max that it almost rolled out of his sockets.
Byul opened another scroll and saw an inked drawing. Thank goodness! His eyes finally lit up. The drawing seems to be some sort of map. There were mountains and valleys in it and even a line looking like a river.
Byul scrutinized the scene and felt it was very familiar.
‘This is actually the scene where the Great Wall of China is built…’
However, the walls still didn’t exist in this time frame. It was still a century away. Byul paused as he thought about the issue.
“Wait. Are we supposed to build the Walls? Don’t tell me.. We’re staying in this place for a century..”
He mumbled as he felt shivers on his spine. No way! I’ll be stuck here for a hundred years?!
His thoughts suddenly crashed as he heard some noised outside and instantly rolled back the scrolls and piled them up in an incredible speed. Who knows how he managed to do it but he still did.
He then went back on the carpet and knelt as he acted to be struggling to get the rope untied.
The noise get louder and after a moment, the door was slowly opened as a certain someone entered the room.
Stanley after seeing Byul bending over his knees: “….”
The door creaked however the person didn’t walk in. What’s happening? Byul look over the door and instantly frown when he saw the person standing stiffly at the entrance. Oh my? Why is that bastard here?!
“You’re actually here?”
Stanley asked in disbelief. What a coincidence to see Byul in this room! He chuckled as he walked over to the person kneeling on the ground.
“How—?”
Byul frowned as he asked. Come on! Of all people he could meet from the ten, it’s Stanley?!
“How you asked? I actually don’t know. I just realized I’m already here.” Stanley crouched in front of him as he showed him an elegant smile.
Byul look at him and just sighed. He must’ve landed here randomly. If that’s the case then it’s believable.
“Can you untie me?” Byul asked as he motioned himself.
Even if it’s this bastard, he’s still a comrade. Byul thought. They’re on the same boat anyway. However, his expectations had been betrayed. Stanley sneered at him and asked.
“Why should I?”
“….!”
Wtf?! Of course! You could at least lend me some help! Is that so bad to ask you! Ugh! This is why I hate you so bad. You’re f***ing selfish! He cursed him lot on his mind however, Byul held back his anger and just smiled. This guy can’t be talked anyway. He’s someone who hold grudges!
“I’m just kidding, go away. You’re bothering me here.”
Stanley chuckled and circled around him. “Can you even break free by yourself.”
“Mind your own business. Shoo~” Byul insisted making Stanley frowned.
“Good luck then.” Stanley just sighed and finally head towards the door. He gave him one last glance before going out and closing the door.
“Freak.”
Byul cursed and finally started to broke free from the rope. To think he’d met that guy first instead of someone else. He really had such bad luck. The odds really hate him this much!
He moved his hands and adjusted himself to felt around the rope. After some time, he finally figured out how to break free and instantly tried.
Sweats poured down on his face and the numbness started to surface on his hands. Byul continued rubbing his hands on the rope and soon he finally freed himself.
‘Damn that took forever.’
He quietly thought as he shook his hands off. He stood up from the carpet and touch his wrist. The bruised already became purple. It was really a horrible sight. He sighed and finally walked towards the door.
If Stanley could walk around freely that means there’s no one around but that guy can’t be trusted. He cautiously opened the door and peek at the hallway.
Byul silently made his way out as he shut the door. The hallway was lit and just like the room. It was smeared with a red carpet on the floor. How come there’s no one around here?
Byul wrinkled his brow and finally walked into the exit.
He managed to get on the end of the hallway successfully however, he suddenly felt a chill in his back. He look behind him and saw the door he went out from earlier was two doors away.
Didn’t he already walked far? Right. The hallways is long so it must be just his imagination. Byul walked again and felt a chill on his spine as soon as he took a step towards the end of the hallway.
His heart thumped loudly on his chest as he finally felt something weird on his back. It’s like an invisible pair of eyes were watching him but he only felt it for a moment. Byul look af the corner of his eyes and blinked hard. He almost gauged his eyeballs at the sight he saw.
There was a silhouette standing in his peripheral vision and it was really disturbing.
He knew there was no one there and he walked far seeing no one in his way. There’s no way that’s Stanley. He never met him on the way and he made sure to check. So how could it be possible to have a silhouette of a person in his back?
Byul slowly turned his head.
‘No one’
Byul sighed. It must be his shadow. He walked ahead slowly however, the second he took another steps toward the edge of the hallway. He would feel a sudden chill.
Byul turned his head again. This time he felt irritated. As he turned his head he saw no one. As in, no person or whatsoever. Byul glanced around before he darted his eyes on front.
Just then, he realized that something seems off.
He glance at the side and saw two rooms before the one he went off to.
“…”
Again, he walked ahead, this time he counted his steps.
50..51..52…’
After the 60th, he felt a chill on his back and now he finally got scared. If he turned, he’ll see the same scene again or it might be something worst! Byul panicked, cold sweats pour down on his face as he trembled on his spot.
This is getting weird! What the heck!
Byul closed his eyes and abruptly turned around. One sec, two sec, he opened his eye slowly.
“….!”
Silence filled the long corridor. Byul turned his head many times and still felt the eeriness of the place. No matter how he further he’d walked he always found himself near the two doors before his room. The hall became longer and longer that he felt exhausted walking many times without reaching the end. Byul felt the chill another time and soon a clinking sound was heard across the hallway. As he turned his head, prepared for the worst. He heard a loud beep followed by a panel appearing in front of him. Initializing…. Subject found… Player information: Seung Byul Ability: None Status: Newbie Level 1 Would you like to upgrade? Y/N A mechanical voice sounded from a blue panel in front of him. “….!” Byul surprisingly look at the screen
“I’ve searched the f*cking entire room and it was only here! Goddarn it!”Byul cursed as he glared at the fallen silver key. He then look at the panel and saw that he only had an hour and ten minutes left.“Damn it. I’ve wasted a lot of time because of you!”He yelled in anger as he pulled his hair up in frustration. He weakly reached out to the floor and grunted as he picked up the goddamn key.He checked the timer again and rested for a few more minutes before exiting the room.Byul glance at the corridor and tried to pass it however, it was still impossible. He felt the chill on his back again but this time he wasn’t at the same position where he got back before. He was actually next to the second door this time…Byul gulped and finally inserted the key on the hole. Maybe this door has the answers. He twiste
Byul stayed hidden in the dark as he cautiously watched the zombie plodding in the wide space. He glanced at the zombie’s face and thought of a conclusion. He wasn’t actually the undead who bite people and infected someone so that the world will became an apocalypse but a brain-dead person? His complexion was pale but not to the point it was rotting beneath and his movements were light-headed and he had no sense. He didn’t even attack him when he approached like the typical zombie who bites. Byul thoughtfully look at the person again. Don’t tell me this is actually the Duke??! Byul paled as he thought of it. Him, being the Duke here without servants and lives in an abandoned place. Now, everything sums up! They left this house and the lord t9 isolate him but why? Byul was then halted by a ‘ding ding!’ sound as the screen drifted in front of him an
The forest was vast and was enormously covered with tall trees and shrubs. The leaves were dreary green and the place really comes off with a gloomy atmosphere. Byul entered the forest while dragging the Duke with him. He don’t want to abandon his reward you see. If he actually had to control this jiangshi, he need to find some talisman. How come the system didn’t reward him some? Does it actually expect him to control it manually? Byul shook his head in disappointment. He glanced meaningfully at the Duke and thought that it was very behaved. He didn’t walked aimlessly this time but silently followed him instead. As he was figuring his way out of the forest, the system beep and another task was laid in front of him. Sigh, this system must be reading my mind. He even knows what I’m thinking. Byul didn’t need to look at the task because he already knew what it is but he was really hooked on the
“Ha..Haahhh…haa….” Byul wiped the sweat on his forehead as he wheezed heavily. Hassan followed him looking like a paper doll. Byul refused to kissed him okay! Him kissing a jiangshi? No way! The system beep as the screen panel hovered in front of him. It still had the same display of choices waiting for him to pick one of them. He can’t use Corpse control! How unfair! He can only save Hassan with a kiss but he doesn’t want to kiss him! Byul paused and look at Hassan who was looking like a paper doll as he swayed in the air. F*ck it! Why are you so choosy man?! He’s totally dissipating! His conscience screamed inside him as his eyes focused on Hassan. “System. Do I really have to kiss him?” Byul hesitantly asked again. “For the hundredth time, yes.” The system said in a boring mechanical voice. Byul really sensed it rolled its eyes. He silently sta
After some time, Byul and Hassan finally reached the large gate. The huge entrance stood mightily in front of them as the border of huge walls encompasses the field along with the gate. It really look like a Kingdom’s border. Does that mean they’re just in the outskirts of Lunur?Byul heard the system beep for another time and displayed the task completion. He nonchalantly pressed the screen and saw the following.[Task: Escape the Lunu Forest Completed!Reward: Experience points +300Stats upgraded by 3%Congratulations! You have reached Level 3!Congratulations! You received 3 points!Would you like to upgraded your stats? Y/N]Byul stared at the stats upgrade button and simply choose ‘Yes’. Now he finally get the gist of the upgrade. He would upgrade whenever he completed a task and the rewa
A few moments after Byul left the mansion.... “Splash!” A bucket of cold water was thrown towards his face. Stanley was jolted awake by the cool sensation in his body and instantly sobered up. He look up and saw a man wearing a black mask on his face as the guy was fiercely glaring at him. Stanley tried to move his hand to reach out to his head that was throbbing like crazy. However, his hand was fastened on the chair, no. Not only that he was actually tied up in the chair! What’s going on here? I was… Stanley tried to recall the situation he was in before. He remembered that he was in the Duke’s mansion and was trying to get out. But now, he woke up in a strange condition and was even tied up without him knowing the reason. What’s happening here? Stanley looked at the masked man with a confused expression on his face.
“Guh.” Stanley gritted his teeth as his fingers started to tingle in an excruciating pain. This bast*rd! He actually stabbed his hand with the f*cking dagger! His hand was nailed on the armrest as the blood trickle down on his knees. Just why? I only arrived at this world a few moments ago but I had to go through a f*cking torture. Stanley winced as he slightly moved the fingers of his injured hand. ‘F**k it hurts!’ “Do you remember anything now?” The masked man said in an angry tone as he started to twist the dagger on his hand. Stanley clenched his teeth as had refused to say a word. Man! No matter how much you torture me, I Don’t Know Anything! Stanley slightly moved his fingers as the blood keep oozing from the wound. If only, If only he could moved one of his limbs! He’d hit him in the face! How dare you disrespect me this way! Stanley lower
