Chapter 38 - Personal Ties

Still on a relaxing weekend, July and Joe enjoyed a peaceful time sitting on the veranda of the apartment.

“Joe, since you came you haven't said anything to me." July's gentle and cautious voice suggests that she doesn't want to offend Joe much less feel compelled to tell a story. “How are you? It’s Auntie and Uncle alright?”

Joe remained silent even as July waited for an answer. It might be hard to start telling a story but there's also no particular reason he needs to avoid this topic, talking about it with July. Joe's face turned sad and gloomy, and July could understand what he was feeling. Ever since his parents separated Joe grew up in loneliness and growing wounds. After completing school education Joe chose college, busy himself pursuing a career and independent life. It's exactly the same as what July did after her father passed away.

“Honestly, I only hear from them occasionally.” a melancholy expression with a mysterious look rose on Joe's face.

“You didn't visit them?”
