Connor watches Levantus leave and turns back to watch as the witch kneels by Odessa’s side. He doesn’t like this, the random witch appearing while all hell has broken loose. Odessa having been bound by a witch before and suddenly falling as she has then a witch appearing… it just seems like too much is happening at once. The sky begins to darken with both storm clouds from the west and the setting of the sun. Tensions running high as people scramble to prepare for the upcoming battle. Many are unsure there will actually be a battle. Other than the future queen advising something was coming, there are no other signs. None of the scouts or patrols have reported anything amiss. When the darkness unleashes itself, it comes swiftly and loudly. One minute, there is absolute silence and the next, scouts are shouting through the mindlinks, explosions shake the ground, and a loud roar splits the air moments before lightning flashes and thunder rolls. Dawn breaks, birds sing, celebrations from the night before have silenced. Yet I awaken early, despite my exhaustion. My instincts are telling me today is dangerous, something is coming. I sit up in bed beside Levantus who is still sleeping. His aura is calm and the gold is comforting. My fingers reach out to gently brush against his arm.
