15 - The Fox
As the thought of a family and my determination to have one filled my mind, Anna was just finishing up checking on my side. The pup had sat next to me, watching as Anna prodded my side and apply some healing ointment along with changing the bandages. After she had applied the ointment and the bandages the pain that was once in my side was now diminishing. I was happy about that because the pain was bothersome and let alone it meant that my wound was finally beginning to heal. It also helped that I was now being fed regularly and my healing abilities as a shifter were once again returning. I was smiling at that fact and although it was small it was, to me, a step in the right direction. In the direction towards the possibility of having a family of my own.

Blinded 16 - Nathan
I let out a sigh as I sat on the terrace that was located just outside my bedroom. Yesterday was full of unexpected events. I was given a death threat, my mother told me the truth about my father's death and the murder that she committed, and I had figured out through a very long grapevine that the pup who I had taken from the care center the day before was beginning to form a bond with the fox. I had also heard that Anna had scolded her mate on the subject of not judging other shifter species. A surprising argument to arise between the two but I barely paid mind to that rumor since it was none of my business to know the arguments that happened between mates. I had been told that the two who had hurt the fox, who was most likely my mate, had been punished. Stevan was pushing their training and reprimanding them for anything they did wrong while Anna had decided to give them a little harsher punishment, which was acceptable for what they did. The fox was asleep, its tail curled over the pup that was nuzzled into its stomach. My wolf was preening with pride as we saw our mate curling up and being gentle with the pup. Holding the plate of food I went over to my mate but stopped when Anna revealed herself from behind a white curtain. "I would like it if you wouldn't disturb my patient." she whispered to me. I raised my paw and swatted at the pup who let go of my tail before attacking it once more and giving me a playful growl. I smiled inwardly at the pup and faked defeat, allowing the pup to openly nip and growl at my tail. I laid on my side and set my head down on top of my paws. I flicked my ears towards the ongoing conversation between Anna and my mate. "Are you absolutely sure that you'll be able to handle two pups and an injured fox shifter?" she asked with a sigh and I could only guess that my mate was nodding before saying, "Yes, I'm absolutely sure but it would be nice if he would at least shift before you left so that way you could check his eyes." he said his voice a bit disappointed and sad. For the past hour, Anna and I had been talking. We had been talking about what I should feed the pups and how to keep them separate if they begin to fight with one another. We had also discussed the situation with the fox and what I should be giving him when he and the pups come to stay with me for the next week or so. Spinning around in my chair I looked at the bed and noticed that the pup was pawing at the foxes nose, whining for him to open his eyes. Everything went black as the golden dust disappeared and suddenly I was thrust back into the reality of my life, back into the blackness that only I could see. As the darkness wrapped around my eyes, I slowly lifted my eyelids and felt my more notable senses return, as I heard the beeping of what I could only guess as a heart monitor. It was an odd sensation as I moved my fingers, feeling the smooth hairless skin that was once fur and feeling the aches that ran up and down my arms as I curled and uncurled my fingers. It was an odd feeling of not being able to hear every sound that was going on around me and an even odder one when I felt the vibrations of something moving on my chest. I walked out of the room, note in hand, and spotted Anna just coming around the corner with a cup of coffee in one hand and a clipboard in the other. I waited next to the door and as she approached and noticed me, her face that was once stern and seemingly uncaring grew worried as she asked, "Nathan what's wrong?" When I didn't answer immediately she immediately assumed the worse and asked, "Did... did he reject you?" I looked at her with widened eyes at that and shook my head no before answering her previous question, "Anna I don't think he can see." I said my voice but a mere whisper. When she gave me a questioning look, I handed her the note that she read slowly before giving me a look of sass. "Nathan, even I could have told you he was blind. The meeting room where Stevan had gathered the all too familiar pack was filled to max capacity. "Hello, brother." I was dreaming. A dream that was a memory of a life that was blurry yet familiar. I was shifted, my fur white with a bit of kit fluff indicating that I was younger than that of a teenage fox shifter, and I was running through a forest, sunlight filtering through the many leaves of the elder oaks then all at once everything slowed as fox let out a loud warning yelp before the glint of silver caught my eye and I slid to a stop but the mud was to slick and soon enough the silver line of a hunter's trap hit my face, digging into my eyes forever blinding me as I fell into the darkness and awoke with a loud yelp. I shakily reached my fingers up to my face and felt the cold touch as I felt the faint scar left by the hunter's trap. I let out a sigh and whimpered in fright as I hugged my knees to my chest and felt warm tears fall from my eyes.
