Chapter 20

Morning came too early. I had fallen in and out of sleep all night long, the memories of last night flooding my head. My eyes stuck to the ceiling as I relived those moments still in disbelief. I seriously could not believe this was my life.

Aside from the obvious, some things Acelin said troubled me about Adrian. He said he was hiding something from me. I knew that much to be true, but there couldn’t be anything worse than being a vampire, though, right?

The sudden realization almost stopped my heart. Oh, my God. What if he was a vampire too? Those words sounded unrealistic. That was not logically possible, was it?

Now that I thought about it, there were some unexplained things that didn’t make sense with Adrian. He had been secretive before and the night at the restaurant was kind of weird, but I had never seen his eyes turn black and he never felt cold like Acelin. In fact, his body was always really warm.

Acelin said they knew each other, but that didn’t mean they were friends.
