My father asked that question with so much distrust that I knew his answer would be no. I did not know that my father had this wealth of information. If Desiree had not advised that I call this meeting, we wouldn't have known, and they would have taken this truth to their grave. Cowardice was frowned upon by packs, and my father would have lost all respect among wolves if they had allowed people to know they ran with their tails between their legs. They had an option, to keep their honour and die or lose it and come home to their loved ones. They promised to come home. There was courage in their cowardice, and weak as it seemed, they had chosen to live so they could fight another day, because of that decision, we had information to work with. I looked at my father with respect so he would know I was proud of him, and I would have done the same to come home to Desiree.

"They requested for a portion of our land to settle on," I said, and my father shook his head.
