New York city.

The air outside Ironhaven Asylum was thick with the smell of rain and wet dirt. Red and blue lights from police cars lit up the dark sky, making the old, broken building look even scarier. Journalists and cameramen crowded behind the yellow tape, shouting questions as they pushed to get closer.

A black car stopped quietly, ignored in the chaos. Out stepped Detective Evelyn Monroe, her long coat blowing in the cold wind. She fixed her hat and looked around with sharp hazel eyes that missed nothing. Evelyn was known for never giving up, no matter how strange the case.

A junior officer hurried to greet her, looking flustered. “Detective Monroe, thank you for coming on such short notice. The situation is... strange.”

Evelyn raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a faint, amused smile. “Strange, Officer? I've seen enough in my line of work to question that word. What am I walking into?”

The officer glanced nervously at the asylum, now a crime scene. “We received multiple emergency calls about gunfire, screams... and some witnesses swore they saw people turning into—”

“Spare me the ghost stories, Officer,” Evelyn cut in, though her tone was more curious than dismissive. “Tell me about the casualties. And what did the forensic team find?”

“Still counting the bodies,” the officer admitted, swallowing hard. “But there are... strange marks on some of them. And no one can explain how the assailants managed to vanish into thin air.”

Her eyes narrowed, the gleam of curiosity in her gaze deepening. “Show me the bodies.”

Evelyn entered the building, the strong smell of blood and burnt gunpowder hitting her at once. She wrinkled her nose but stayed calm, stepping over broken glass. The flickering fluorescent lights cast an eerie glow on the scene.

She crouched beside one of the bodies, her gloved hands inspecting the strange claw marks on its chest. “These don’t look like they came from any human weapon,” she murmured, almost to herself. “Or any animal I’ve ever seen.”

Her partner, Detective Harris, finally caught up with her. “Evelyn, you’re not going to believe this, but there’s no trace of the girl everyone was talking about. We have multiple eyewitnesses claiming she was here, but it’s like she vanished.”

Evelyn stood up slowly, her eyes narrowing with curiosity. “A girl... in the middle of all this? And no one can explain where she went?” She tapped her finger thoughtfully on her chin. “Something tells me this is no ordinary case.”

As they continued deeper into the asylum, they came across a witness—a trembling guard who survived the attack. Evelyn knelt in front of him, her gaze steady and piercing.

“Tell me what you saw,” she demanded softly, yet firmly.

The guard's eyes were wild. “I-I swear, it was like a monster. A beast... but also a man. It tore through the others like paper, and the girl... she did something. I don't know what, but everything went dark, and then they were gone.”

Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat. She exchanged a glance with Harris. “Looks like we’ve stumbled into something far more...supernatural than we imagined.”

Harris leaned in, whispering, “You think it’s connected to those old werewolf rumors?”

Evelyn’s eyes gleamed with a fierce light. “I don’t know yet, but I intend to find out.”

Evelyn Monroe stood in the dim hallway of Ironhaven Asylum, the air heavy with the smell of death. She took off her hat, wiping away the dampness from the evening rain, and looked sharply at Chief Officer Dan. He sat slumped on a stretcher, his arm in a sling, with blood-soaked bandage roughly wrapped around his shoulder.

“Chief Dan,” Evelyn began, her tone calm but commanding, “you’ve been doing this for decades. I’m willing to bet you’ve never seen anything like tonight. So, let’s skip the pleasantries—tell me what caused those injuries.”

Dan winced, averting her gaze. “Detective, it’s... complicated.”

Evelyn crouched down to meet his eyes, her hazel gaze unyielding. “Try me.”

Dan hesitated, his face pale under the gleaming fluorescent lights. “It happened so fast,” he muttered. “One moment, we were doing a routine sweep after the alarms went off. The next... something tore through us. Not someone. Something.”

She leaned in closer. “What did it look like?”

He shook his head, beads of sweat forming on his brow. “I didn’t get a good look. It was fast, too fast. But its eyes... I’ll never forget those glowing, inhuman eyes.”

Evelyn raised an eyebrow. “And the guards? How did they die?”

Dan swallowed hard, his voice shaky as if he was about to cry. “Claws. Teeth. It was like a nightmare—a beast, but not fully. And the girl... she wasn’t scared. She was... like them.”

Evelyn stood, crossing her arms. “A beast, glowing eyes, a fearless girl... You expect me to write that in my report?”

Dan’s face was replaced with frustration. “You think I’m making this up? Look at my shoulder!” He gestured to the claw marks that peeked through the bandage. “What kind of human could do this?”

Evelyn’s lips twitched into a faint, knowing smirk. “Relax, Chief. I believe you.”

He blinked in surprise. “You do?”

She nodded, stepping back. “But believing doesn’t mean I understand. This isn’t my first run-in with strange occurrences, Dan. I’ll figure it out.”

As she turned to leave, his voice stopped her. “Evelyn... whatever that thing was, it’s not done. I could feel it.”

She paused, her back to him. “Neither am I,” she murmured, more to herself than to him.

The air outside was cooler now, the press still buzzing behind the police tape. Evelyn strode out of the asylum, her expression unreadable. Pulling out her phone, she dialed a number with a practiced flick of her thumb.

The line connected, and without hesitation, she spoke into the receiver.

“Those creatures are at it again.”

She ended the call without waiting for a response, her gaze hard and sharp as she disappeared into the night.

"Wait! Please don't hurt me."Gaia’s voice rang out. She wasn’t sure why she said it. She wasn’t sure what she was trying to stop—Lucian from draining her or from something even worse.Lucian turned to her slowly, amusement flickering across his face. “Wait?” He chuckled, taking a step closer. “How pathetic.”Gaia swallowed hard, her pulse racing. She couldn’t move. Not because she was restrained, but because of the power emitting from him. It was suffocating.Lucian knelt in front of her, lifting her chin with a single cold finger. His touch sent ice down her spine. “Beg me,” he whispered, his red eyes gleaming with hostility. Before Gaia could react, a voice cut through the air, sharp and deadly.“Touch her again, and I’ll rip your spine out.”Lucian sighed dramatically. “And here comes the wolf.”Gaia was shoved to the floor as Lucian turned his full attention to Valtor.Valtor stood tall, his gaze locked onto Lucian with an expression colder than death itself. But something was

Selene’s hands tightened around her phone as she read her father's message again. “Gaia is about to meet her downfall right there at the party. And Valtor will not be able to protect her this time. Be careful.”What the fuck? Why didn't he tell her on time? She clenched her fists, breathing heavily. If something happened to Gaia, Valtor would lose it. He had already been overly protective, but if she was harmed, it wouldn’t just be a bloodbath—it would be war.Selene hesitated, fingers hovering over the screen. Should she warn him?No. If she told Valtor, he’d demand answers, and if he found out her father was involved… she couldn’t afford that risk.A deep breath. A forced calm. She slipped her phone into her purse and stepped out of the restroom.★ ★ ★Valtor was occupied, surrounded by high-ranking officials and influential figures, exchanging formal pleasantries.Though his face held a polite expression, his eyes constantly searched the room.Gaia stood a few feet away, feeling o

  • Bloodbound: The Lycan's Claim   The Party

The ride to the party was tense. The air inside the carriage was thick with unspoken words, and the silence only made it worse.Gaia kept her hands folded in her lap, staring at the passing scenery through the small window. Selene, sitting beside her, wasn’t nearly as composed. She let out a sharp exhale. “This is ridiculous.”Valtor, sitting across from them, didn’t look up from where he rested his chin against his fist. “Then stop talking about it.”Selene scoffed. “So that’s it? You’re just going to ignore the fact that she wasn’t supposed to be invited?”Valtor didn’t react.Selene’s nails dug into her palm. “You told me this was a political gathering—a private event. You do realize she doesn’t belong here?”Gaia felt her jaw tighten, but she said nothing.Valtor’s eyes flicked toward Selene, his voice calm but firm. “Gaia is my guest. That’s all you need to know.”Selene let out a bitter laugh. “Right. Your guest. Just like she was your guest last night? The same night you called

Gaia stirred awake, her body sinking into the soft sheets, the warmth around her strangely familiar yet… absent. She blinked against the dim morning light, turning her head toward the empty space beside her. Valtor was gone. Her fingers instinctively brushed over where he had been, the sheets still slightly warm. The memory of last night rushed back—the intruder, the panic, Valtor holding her. She shivered.Did he cuddle her all through the night? She groaned, covering her face with her hands. Was she embarrassed? Maybe. Or maybe it was something else—something she didn’t want to admit.A sharp knock pulled her from her thoughts."Good morning, sleepyhead!"Gaia barely had time to react before Lyra burst in, balancing a tray of food in one hand and a folded dress in the other. Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she shut the door behind her."You look like you’ve seen a ghost," Lyra teased, setting the tray down beside Gaia. "Or had a very eventful night."Gaia rolled her eyes. "It wa

The door to Gaia’s room slammed open, and Valtor stepped in, his gaze immediately scanning the room. Behind him, a doctor followed, his medical kit clinking softly as he entered. Gaia sat up in bed, her fingers still tracing the scratch on her neck from the intruder’s violent grab. Her blood had dried, but the sting of it—of the situation—still felt fresh.“Gaia.” Valtor’s voice was soft, but his eyes were hard, as if fighting off something dark. He turned to the doctor, his tone authoritative. “Check her over. Now.”The doctor quickly set to work, though his eyes flicked nervously between Valtor and Gaia. “Of course, Alpha,” he said. His fingers gently pressed at Gaia’s neck, making her wince slightly at the tenderness. She could feel his nervous energy, like he was being watched by something bigger than just the Alpha. The moment was interrupted when Selene entered the room, her presence a heavy cloud hanging over them. Why am I even thinking about this?It wasn’t like she wanted him. He was someone else’s mate. Selene’s mate.
