Encounter with Eve

“Eve???”

She halted mid-step and looked up from the food she was trying to balance in her hands, to me. “Lorelei???”

“Eve!! What the hell are you doing here??” I couldn’t help but scream in excitement as I saw my long-lost best friend.

Her eyes glowed in excitement and adoration, anyone could tell she was surprised but ecstatic to see me.

She furrowed her brows at my question and wiggled her eyebrows at me.

“I should be asking you. You’re the king’s mate??”

I paused with my mouth open to reply when I heard the phrase she used.

The King’s mate.

I gave her a slight smile, shrugging- “It appears so.”

“But you’re human!!” She exclaimed, dropping the tray on the large table beside the door and coming towards me in concern.

Remembering Amanda and all, my eyes grew comically. “You’re not human??”

She stopped next to me, sitting down and trying to avoid my eyes. “Well... Most people you know aren’t...”
