“We sent with your men the best of us to lead an aerial rescue team," said Emery before General Tobly could reply anything, "to safely escort your crew to where the civilians are held captive, kill their captors and take down their operation over there. Do you want the wrong people to step in and take her down before your people are free?”

“Of course not,” said Corporal Stephenson.

“Then she is B to all people concerned,” said Emery, staring at the horizon.

Coralis let her aura roam free around her. She knew she was followed by humans, but she also knew she couldn’t fail that mission. Besides the set of coordinates sent by Emery, the only specifics she knew about it were what she heard from him at the clearing. She needed to ensure that no witches mess with them, so she also created a floating shield around them.

The mages behind her could feel her aura wrapping them. All four of them were die-hard flyball fans and Blue Thunder was the reason they

July 10, 2005Coralis walked out of a meeting with six of the seven CMMA remaining elders and saw a missed call from Frank.“Everything okay?” said Coralis when he answered.“Yeah, nothing bad. Mom woke up this morning wanting to invite the family for brunch, arguing we needed to start gathering again for Sunday brunches like we used to. I mean, we still went to Mom every once in a while for brunch, but life being what it is, now we mostly gather on some holidays. Think you can make it?”“Probably, I’ll be leaving Winnipeg soon. At what time does she want us there?”“Noon. Are Erik and Henry still coming today?”“I’ll be there, but I might be a little bit late. They are still coming, yes, but later in the afternoon.”“I’ll see you next meeting,” said Whazk before taking off.For the past few weeks, the Shadow Elementals agreed to help the CMMA elders clean their territory. From twelve elders, the CMMA was down to seven and refused to appoint new ones until they knew for sure they had

June 25, 2005 – 17:00 (Montreal Time)Coralis paid for the taxi and as soon as they were out of the car, Lizzy opened the door and ran to them.“Oh my God! Sebastian told us, I’m glad you made it home okay.”“Let’s talk about this inside,” said Coralis while Lizzy hugged Audrey tight.“Yes, of course. Neighbours will witness me being overly excited at seeing my daughter coming back from boarding school. You know how a few months can feel like an eternity,” said Lizzy, regaining her composure.“This is so stupid. They want to work with you guys when they need to, but then turn around and have you arrested for being what they needed. I don’t understand their logic,” said Molly once they closed the door.“This isn’t so much about logic, I think it’s more about an unhealthy amount of fear. I’ve also read that they want to force witches to register as such if they want to be left alone, so I’m starting to think this is more about control. They see what you can do and want to be able to use

May 18, 2005“I couldn’t keep her safe. I tried, oh I tried, but I failed to my mate. How do you do it? You’re both mated and they’re both still alive,” said Andrew to Alejandro and Coralis when they landed on the island.“There is no such thing as a universal foolproof method to keep a mate safe during a war like this one. Even when we’re not home, they are never out of sight, but truthfully, we can only do the best we can and hope for the best,” said Alejandro.“Do you hide them away?”“No. He lives his life, but like Alejandro said, he’s never entirely out of my sight. Even when we were locked up behind silver bars, he was protected by people I trust. At the end of the day, all we can do is enjoy every moment we can with our mates and hope their connection to us won’t get them killed.”“Jail was the worst. Guards made us think they captured our mates, claiming they would torture them in front of us to make us talk and admit to things we’d never do. We nearly lost it more than once.

May 15, 2005Andrew was asleep on his office chair and suddenly woke up. Excruciating pain radiated from his heart and soul. He didn’t understand what was happening to him. Until he did.“Lalima!”He tried to reach out to her, but he couldn’t. The pain intensified and he couldn’t see clearly. He kept trying to push through his end of their bond to get to her, but it felt broken. He didn’t understand. He tried to locate her through her bond, but he couldn’t. He struggled to move, but he made it to his office window and took off on his stick toward the island she was supposed to be.Enraged, he pushed the door open without touching it and rushed to her room. She wasn’t there. Juan, her brother, woke up confused by the commotion.“WHERE IS SHE?”“She was here, she probably went for a walk around the island,” said Juan.Andrew tried to remain composed through the pain, but could barely stand. He kept trying to connect to her through their bond, without success. Focusing on her lingering e

April 30, 2005“Of course, he wants your help now, but why doesn’t he go after Andrew himself?” said Sebastian.“If he genuinely wants your help, why ask through fire message, as if you were in trouble? Unless it’s a threat in disguise, and you’d get arrested if you don’t?” said Stephanie.“No one at the EBEE has my new hologram code and he doesn’t know where to find me, which makes it difficult to send a pigeon. A fire message is probably the only way he could think of to send me an urgent message. I don’t know why he won’t go after him himself.”“And before another elder gets killed? Is he implying he doesn’t care if agents get killed?” said Sebastian.Sebastian got up and went where Coralis stood to look at the message she received.“After everything they have done to you, I hope you aren’t planning on helping them,” said Molly, still sitting at the dining table between Stephanie and Jeremie.“No, they’re on their own against Andrew,” said Coralis as she opened the second drawer of

April 21, 2005Coralis looked at him, confused.“We never found out who burned it down, and I spoke to my former flatmates last night. I was in Madrid when the fire happened, on my way back from South Africa where Alejandro Salinz and I took down a mystical weapon trade operation after escaping jail.”“Is it connected to the acres of burned trees by the Kruger National Park?”“Yes. A radical cell of djinns was based there to distribute weapons to other radical clans and possibly to some humans working law enforcement. We went there after escaping jail. We nearly got captured again when we arrived in Madrid. It was about 7:45 local time.”“Approximately 10 minutes before a group of people set your London flat on fire,” said Mal, pressing buttons on the viewing device he was holding before giving it back to her. “Look at the timestamp. This is from a CCTV attached to a lamppost.”“This is the rooftop of the house across the street,” said Coralis, pointing at a corner of the screen befor
