He came to my home, looking for you, and he thought it was going to be easy to defeat me. I warned him not to come. I told him that I wasn’t one to be trifled with, but he came anyway. What was I supposed to do? Let him go? No. I did what I needed to do, as a King. I protected my people, and I do not have to justify my actions to you.” My head spun and I inhaled slowly, realizing that Ian had been in captivity for a while now.Bile rushed up my throat, and I staggered backwards, feeling the ground shift from under my feet. What the fuck?‘How long has Ian been here … how long has he been trapped while i went around messing around with Olpheus? … i did not only mess around with him. I slept with him, while Ian was under the same roof … what have i done? I was still mated to Ian, and I had slept with someone else … it doesn’t matter what i thought i felt for Olpheus … i a
He stiffened for a second before getting off the bed calmly.I wrapped the sheets around me, feeling my heart jump to my throat. All my good feelings had instantly faded away. I was left with a pit in my stomach that kept growing, expanding as if it was going to swallow me whole. This couldn’t be happening to me, not right now, not when I was finally happy. Why couldn’t I be happy? Why?The guards knocked on the door again, about to speak, and he cut them off with a bark, “I heard you. Spread out and make sure he doesn’t leave the grounds.”I turned paler immediately, watching as he dressed up, avoiding my gaze.“Orlpheus?” I whispered, moving to the edge of the bed. What the hell was happening. “It is fine. All you need to do is stay here and wait for me to come back. I wouldn’t be long now.” He told me, not even bothering to sound placating. He walked to the closet, and fixed himself while I remained on the bed, tangled in the sheets and the lingering feeling of what we just did. M
He pulled away, and I groaned against the sheet, gasping wild, trying to calm my raging heart. It felt as if he had peeled my skin, layers by layers. I felt turned inside out. I was a huge mess, and so overwhelmed.“Take your time. I’m still going to be here when you’re ready.” He assured me, and when I looked at him, he had a warm smile on his face, a very pleased smile. I wanted to kiss it off, but first, I needed to catch my breathe.“Stop smiling, you …” I trailed off, not knowing what to say.He chuckled, and leaned against the bed frame, watching me happily. There was something in his expression that disarmed me, it made me happy but scared at the same time. I didn’t know what we were doing. Was there a label for it? All I knew was I was done being pathetic and defenseless, he was going to help me and he was who I wanted, only him, and no one else. It was long shot, but it was worth it.I licked my lips and crawled to him. I helped him pull down his brief, and my eyes widened wh
His eyes darkened immediately as I spoke, and for a moment, he didn’t move. He stared at me long and hard. My heart skipped a beat and I wondered if I somehow messed everything up. Had I come on to him too hard? Maybe he neded a moment to work through what my sister had done to him and this wasn’t the time to come on to him. I knew I should take a step back but the need I felt for him was swelling hard in me, almost swallowing me up. It was killing me, and I was tired of being edged. We had been dancing around each other for too long and it was finally time to take what we wanted, no more playing around. But, only if he wanted to.I opened my mouth to speak, and he cut me off by holding me tighter, “Tell me to stop.” he said, voice filled with need.My eyes widened and I shook my head, “No.”He ripped what was left of my clothes immediately and my heart raced hard.He pushed me to the bed, and grabbed on to my breasts with a ferocity that scared me, or perhaps it excited me. I didn’t
My heart couldn’t stop pounding as our bodies flushed together. Why was I still painfully affected by him despite everything? Why did I still want him? What was it about him that made my knees weak and threw my inhibitions out the window?I shut my eyes and tried not to see him with my sister but that was all I saw. I was haunted by the memory of them, the words he said to her, the way he touched her as he was touching me right now. How could he set me on fire with just a touch and yet be with her that way? It made no sense. None of this did.“Eloise,” he whispered, thickly and I looked in his eyes, blinking away my tears as despair sunk further into my heart.“I know how it feels, but give me a chance to explain, to make this right,” he begged, eyes softening and I nodded reluctantly.“I had come in here to apologize to you for leaving abruptly when I found her in the bedroom. She had used a cloaking spell, hoping to fool me, but I saw through it. Immediately she knew that I hadn’t b
Exhaustion weighed heavily on my bones, and I blinked awake, realizing I was still in the room.It felt as if I was covered by a thick fog, and couldn’t find my way through. Something was wrong with me, and I knew it was because of Lyara, whatever she did to me. I needed to regain my strength so I could kill her. My energy kept slipping out of me as if I was being drained. My eyelids flutter close and I leaned against the wall for strength. Beneath me, I could hear the pounding of boots, and the clatter of weapons. I frowned, and forced myself to the window. My vision blurred at the edges, and I blinked, resting against the railing. The guards were running around, as if they were looking for something. It did not occur to me that they might be looking for me.Still deep in Lyara spell, I moved to the window, heat burning through my belly. It swallowed me whole. I needed air. I needed to get out of here. I leaned forward, wondering if I could jump down. Goosebumps broke over my skin,
