The sky was brilliantly clear that morning as the wagons rumbled along the red dirt road.

After a quick breakfast, the members of the Happy Carnival packed up camp without delay. They still had several days' journey ahead before reaching the next town.

Rosella now rode in the third wagon, the one under Rowan's charge.

Seated beside him at the reins, she chatted away without pause. The two laughed so often that Rowan's unmistakable, booming laughter carried all the way to the wagons in front.

Rosella and Isaac walked side by side through the quiet streets of Pimadona. It was well past nightfall, and most of the houses had already gone dark. Only a handful of windows still glowed with fading candlelight, while the oil lamps lining the stone streets swayed gently beneath the cold evening breeze.Their clothes were still soaked from the river. Every now and then, Rosella shivered, pulling her thin cloak tighter around herself, though it did little to keep the cold from seeping into her bones. Before either of them could say another word, hurried footsteps echoed from the far end of the street."Isaac!"Someone came running toward them. It was Rowan. His breathing was uneven, as though he had searched every corner of the city. The moment he spotted Isaac, the tightness in his shoulders eased ever so slightly."Thank goodness..." he murmured under his breath. "I finally found you."Then his eyes drifted toward the figure walking beside Isaac. He frowned, almost as if he wasn't

"...What..."Rosella's whisper was barely audible."...is really going on?"After that...The fight had ended. But the atmosphere around the Happy Carnival camp never truly returned to normal. The laughter that usually drifted between the tents had vanished. No musicians idly strummed their guitars during breaks, and no dancers practiced while teasing one another. Everyone worked in silence. Some washed clothes by the small stream. Others dusted off stage props still coated with dirt from the road. A few opened small roadside stalls, selling handmade trinkets and souvenirs to help cover the troupe's expenses while the performances remained postponed. Each person buried themselves in their own work, as though no one wanted to speak about what had happened.Rosella chose to remain silent as well. She didn't dare approach Sebastian. Nor Rowan. And Isaac...The young man had disappeared without a trace after the fight.Rosella sat beside several of the girls near the washing area, slowly

The Next Morning...The Happy Carnival camp was unusually quiet that morning.Dew still clung to the tips of the grass, sparkling beneath the gentle warmth of the rising sun. The festival booths remained exactly where they had stood the night before, their colorful banners swaying lazily in the breeze.Only yesterday, laughter had filled every corner of the camp.Now...Silence lingered where joy had been.At daybreak, Sebastian had already returned to the forest with the town guards. They were combing every trail the Shadow Bandit might have taken during the night.Only a handful of people remained behind to watch over the camp. Isaac was one of them. From a distance, Rosella watched him. In the middle of the training grounds, he swung his sword again and again.Swish.Swish.Swish.The blade sliced cleanly through the morning air with every strike. He wore no shirt. Sweat glistened across his athletic frame beneath the golden sunlight. Though he was only nineteen, his broad shoulder

Twenty-Five Years Ago...Happy Carnival. Kingdom of Aster."Step right up! Lady Sophie's special performance is about to begin!"A ticket attendant stood atop a wooden crate, waving both arms enthusiastically toward the growing crowd."Ladies and gentlemen! The performance will begin in just a few moments!"People hurried toward the grand stage."Come on! Hurry! Sophie's about to perform!" a little boy shouted as he tugged at his mother's hand.Music drifted through the festival like a gentle breeze.Children darted between the bustling stalls, their laughter mingling with the melodies of wandering musicians. Sweet vendors called out to passing visitors. Lanterns glowed warmly overhead. People tried their luck at archery, scooped goldfish with delicate paper nets, and tossed rings toward rows of colorful prizes. The countless lights of Happy Carnival shimmered beneath the night sky...As though the night itself had no intention of ending.Behind the stage, inside the dressing tent...

Before the Ball"Noelle, this is Mr. Rowan," Count Nimbel said to his daughter, who stood before the mansion's towering window. "The finest makeup artist in the Happy Carnival."The young lady turned gracefully. Sunlight spilled across her delicate features, making her emerald eyes shimmer like polished glass. She offered Rowan a courteous bow."It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Rowan. I've heard so much about your work."Behind Rowan, another figure stepped into the room.A handsome young man with golden hair and sea-blue eyes.Noelle's gaze drifted past Rowan and settled on him."...It's been two years."Sebastian offered no reply.Instead, he stepped forward, bowed with effortless elegance, and gently lifted the back of her hand to his lips."It's good to see you well, Lady Noelle."Their eyes met. Neither of them spoke. Too much had been left unsaid over the past two years.Noelle was the first to break the silence."Shall we begin? Mr. Rowan must be exhausted after such a long jour

Rowan rose to his feet and began gathering his tools."Well then, I'd better get ready too."With that, he pushed aside the tent flap and stepped outside.Sebastian was already waiting there, arms folded across his chest. Rowan spared him a brief glance."Why aren't you going in?"Sebastian strode over, stopping beside him."I think you should be more mindful of your behavior. I put you in the ladies' tent for a reason."Rowan closed his eyes with an amused smile before pressing the tip of his finger against Sebastian's forehead, gently pushing him back."Watch your tone, pretty boy."As always, he unfolded his fan with effortless elegance."I think you're the one who needs to mind his behavior."For a fleeting moment, a sharp glint flashed behind his smile."My sweet Rosella is finally ready."His smile returned as though nothing had happened."So why are you just standing here instead of seeing her?"Sebastian let out a quiet sigh before pulling open the tent flap. The sound of foots
