Chapter 3

作者: Shirley
Ignorant, Liu Ying demanded, "What sword is it?"

The old official's teeth chattered as he forced out a single word, filled with terror: "Duanyuan."

At the sound of that name, Liu Ying froze, her face drained of all color.

But before the assembled gods could recover, a commanding voice, laced with authority, descended from the clouds.

"Cease this fearmongering!"

"Jin Yao, Lord of the Abyssal Void, was vanquished by my own hand. That demonic blade, Duanyuan, was utterly destroyed and can never reappear."

"The three realms now enjoy eternal peace. How can you, esteemed deities, fall into such disarray!"

I would never mistake that voice. It belonged to my greatest enemy, Jun Che.

The man who had once hurt me most deeply.

That's right. I am the very source of all demons he claimed was long dead.

The one and only master of the chaotic demonic realm, the Abyssal Void, who once stood as his equal: Jin Yao.

Back then, to pacify the Abyssal Void, Jun Che had entered it alone. We were supposed to be mortal enemies, but a chance encounter led to us knowing one another.

For a full thousand years, he showered me with tenderness.

I was born of chaos, cold by nature and a stranger to love. It was he who patiently taught me what it meant to cherish another.

Under the spell of his sweet words, I willingly lowered my demonic realm's defenses and signed a peace treaty with the Celestial Realm.

So when he later said he wanted to take me as his wife and protect me for all eternity, I let down all my defenses without a second thought.

We were husband and wife for a thousand years, and I believed us to be as devoted as ever.

I thought ours would be a legendary tale of love, one that transcended the boundary between gods and demons.

Until I discovered he already had a beloved in the mortal realm.

Her name was Chao Yan, the very mortal who now sits on the throne of the Celestial Empress.

Chao Yan, with her mortal body, could not withstand the divine power of the Celestial Realm. The only way for her to survive was to find a powerful enough source of energy to forge an immortal body.

Unwilling to harm the interests of any god in the Celestial Realm, Jun Che set his sights on me.

On our wedding day, he laid a deadly trap. While I was completely unguarded, he cruelly thrust his hand into my chest.

I did not yet know I was pregnant. The blow crippled me, leaving me powerless to fight back.

I stared at him, my eyes filled with disbelief, but he left me with only a single, cold phrase: "For the peace of the three realms."

Then he ripped out the Abyssal Heart, the source of my power, and with a single palm strike, shattered my very soul.

Even my sword, Duanyuan, was cast into the dust and crushed to powder with my remains.

But my unborn child saved me.

That poor child exhausted all its life force to protect the last fragment of my soul.

After a hundred years of slumber, that fragment finally formed a new body, but I was so weak I felt I could expire at any moment.

My heart was filled with a bone-deep hatred. Even knowing I had lost my Abyssal Heart, I dragged my broken body toward the Nine Heavens, desperate for revenge.

But my life force was depleted. A simple blizzard could have killed me.

Just as I was about to freeze to death in a mountain ravine, a pair of calloused hands took hold of me.

The herb-gathering Mr. Gu looked at me with heartache in his eyes, wrapping me in his worn outer robe. "In this snow and ice... you poor, ill-fated child. Do not be afraid. This old man will take you home."

I thought it a momentary act of kindness, but he truly sheltered me in Green-Pouch Valley for a hundred years.

By the year I finally found the fragments of Duanyuan and reforged them into an ebony fan, my body had recovered.

I secretly planned my assault, preparing to storm the Celestial Palace and take Jun Che down with me.

But the night before I was to leave, Master walked into my room with a steaming bowl of Hundred-Herb Soup.

Unaware of my murderous intent, he simply rubbed his hands together with a cheerful smile.

"Shuang'er, you have seemed distracted lately, and you have grown so thin. This is a new recipe I just developed, perfect for calming the spirit and replenishing your energy."

"Drink it while it is hot. If you do not like the taste, I will change the herbs for you tomorrow."

"If you like it, I will make it for you every day from now on."

I froze for a moment, then asked warily, "We are not related. Why are you so good to me?"

My master stroked his graying beard and smiled with paternal warmth. "Because I have long considered you a daughter of my own."

"If anything happened to my daughter, would her father's heart not break? I am an old man. All I want is for my family to be safe and sound."

In that moment, looking at his back, slightly stooped from long nights brewing medicine for me, the heart that had been frozen for a century finally shattered.

So, there was truly someone in this world who cherished me.

Suddenly, I no longer wanted revenge.

I turned Duanyuan into a simple folding fan and placed it on my desk, burying my past of blood and vengeance, along with my identity as a demon lord, deep within the valley.

But I never imagined that Jun Che would again be the one to destroy the peace I had fought so hard for, reigniting a century of suppressed hatred, both old and new.

I slowly raised my head, my grip tightening on the black sword that hummed with insatiable hunger, and stared at the lofty, ethereal figure in the clouds.

I spoke, my voice soft but clear. "Jun Che. I trust you have been well."

When I brutally tore open my chest and dug out my own heart in the courtyard of Green-Pouch Valley, Auntie Qin wept until she was hoarse. She cursed me as she rushed over."Shuang'er, are you mad?! What in the world are you doing?!"Duanyuan, in his human form, blocked her path. Choking back a sob, he explained, "She is reviving Master Gu."This heaven-defying forbidden art was a secret known to none in the three realms but Duanyuan. The heart of the Lord of the Abyssal Void, that core of black flame, possesses the divine power to regrow flesh on bone and bring the dead to life.Auntie Qin stopped short, muttering in a daze, "If she loses her heart... what will happen to her?"Duanyuan clenched his jaw, silent for a long moment before he managed to force out the truth. "She will fall forever into the void, her soul annihilated, never to be reborn."Auntie Qin's body trembled violently. She began to shriek at me, a heart-wrenching, desperate cry. "No! Shuang'er, stop!""Even if your mas

On that day, the colossal roar of the Celestial Palace's collapse shook the three realms. The mortals on earth looked up at the sky in horror, only to see a torrential rain of crimson falling from the heavens.Someone held out a hand to catch it, brought it to their nose, and then screamed in terror, "Blood! This rain is blood!""What in the world has happened in the Nine Heavens?!"The mortals, of course, would never know that at that moment, the lofty heavens had already become a mountain of the dead in a sea of blood. The once-celestial-wreathed palace was now a ruin. In the dead silence, only Jun Che and I remained, both of us on the verge of utter exhaustion.Duanyuan's spirit let out a deafening, mournful cry, roaring in fury, "Jin Yao, I'll finish this bastard for you!"I weakly pressed my hand on the hilt, my gaze as firm as ice."The blood debt for my master... I must be the one to claim it myself.""Besides, you can't beat him."Sensing that I was forcibly drawing on the most

Auntie Qin stared blankly at my unfamiliar, demonic face.Jun Che, thinking she had recognized the demon's identity and would recoil in horror, continued his incitement. "Kill this demon! If she dies, I guarantee that Green-Pouch Valley will ascend and prosper for all eternity!"Jun Che was the same as he was a hundred years ago, a master manipulator who understood the human heart to its core.He was certain I would never raise a hand against Auntie Qin and sought to use a mortal's fear to cut me again, without spilling a drop of his own blood. But Auntie Qin quickly came to her senses. She messily wiped the tears from her face, scrambled to her feet, and resolutely stood in front of me."This old woman doesn't know anything about demon lords.""I only know that Shuang'er is the child I raised with my own two hands.""And I know my late husband's temper better than anyone.""He devoted his life to healing. Even if it cost him his life, he would never have traded Shuang'er for some damn

The moment I finished speaking, a ball of black abyssal flame erupted from my palm, shooting toward Jun Che's face with the force of a thunderbolt. He snorted and, with a flick of his sleeve, dispersed the demonic energy, his eyes full of contempt."You think to harm me with a mere mortal's trick?"I smiled. "The Celestial Lord is so clever, yet so foolish.""This killing blow was never aimed at you. It was for your precious wife."Jun Che's expression changed in an instant. He whipped his head around. But the space beside him was empty.Chao Yan was already in my grasp, her fragile throat locked in my hand.Jun Che's face flushed with panic, but he dared not make a rash move.He said urgently, "If you have a grievance, direct it at me! Let Yan'er go!""What happened back then has nothing to do with her. She is a mere mortal!"My face was impassive. "How could it have nothing to do with her?""Inside that delicate body of hers, she is still hiding something of mine."Before the words h

Jun Che's pupils contracted. "Absurd!" he said, his voice full of disbelief."Given Jin Yao's nature, how could she have possibly hidden a pregnancy from me!"I looked at him, my expression unreadable. "If you had known of the child's existence back then, would you still have struck that fatal blow?"On the day of our wedding, the day I was betrayed, I had only just sensed the small life within me.My heart was full of joy. I had planned to save it for our wedding night, to give him a wonderful surprise. But he never gave me the chance. For the hundred years since I was reforged, I had endlessly wondered. If he had known he was about to become a father, would that palm strike still have landed without a shred of mercy?Today, I would finally hear the answer from his own lips. But the answer, as always, was cruel.Jun Che hesitated for a moment, then his face contorted into a mask of cold, righteous fury. The word "husband" made Jun Che freeze.Liu Ying, collapsed on the ground, thought I had lost my mind. Enduring the searing pain of her broken bones, she screamed, "Su Shuang! You're at death's door and you still dare to spout such lies!""Everyone in the three realms knows the Celestial Lord has only ever had one wife!"Even the usually graceful and gentle Chao Yan flushed with anger. She pointed at me, her voice sharp. "You vile demon, you have no shame!""I have been with my husband for centuries and have never once heard of another wife!"Yes. How could these latecomers possibly know?On that wedding day, the gods and celestials who witnessed Jun Che's betrayal had long since been silenced, either by death or by decree.Jun Che had gone to great lengths to ensure the three realms would worship him as the peerless hero who suppressed the demonic realm.
