Chapter 1

The woman's voice was sweet and coy, yet it carried an underlying, unquestionable sense of entitlement.

She was a new resident who had moved in half a month ago. Her name was Charlotte Ellis. Whenever we crossed paths in the neighborhood, she always had her chin tilted up, putting on the haughty airs of a wealthy mistress.

Her audacious demand made me scoff. I said, "I'm not used to having strangers in my car, Ms. Ellis."

"Oh, don't be like that, Olivia. My husband is the CEO of a major company. Get on my good side, and there will definitely be something in it for you down the line.

"That beat-up black Audi of yours may look a little old, but it'll do. Eight o'clock tomorrow morning. Don't be late." She spoke in a tone that sounded like she was granting a charitable favor, and immediately hung up the phone.

As I stared at the darkened screen of my phone, I was baffled. I was indeed driving a black car, but it wasn't a beat-up Audi. It was a custom-built, bulletproof RS6 Avant—one of only three in the world, handcrafted by Virelden's top engineering team. In fact, the interior alone cost more than two luxury penthouses in this upscale neighborhood.

I ignored her self-absorbed rambling, put my phone on silent, and went to sleep.

Early the next morning, I went downstairs on time and headed toward my reserved parking space. As soon as I pulled open the car door, a figure suddenly darted out from the side and grabbed the passenger door.

It was Charlotte; she was wearing an incredibly over-the-top, sequined slip dress and a pair of four-inch heels. Worst of all, she was holding a steaming bowl of pungent chitlin stew.

"What took you so long, Olivia? I've been waiting for you for ten minutes!" she grumbled as she ruthlessly threw the door open and made a move to slide into the passenger seat.

I immediately reached out to stop her. "What do you think you're doing?"

"I'm catching a ride to work! Didn't we agree on this last night?"

"I never agreed to anything," I spat out, eyeing her coldly. "Also, you're forbidden from eating in my car, especially food with such a strong smell."

Charlotte rolled her eyes. "Oh, please, it's just a beat-up Audi. Why are you acting like it's made of gold? I usually ride in my husband's Porsche and eat whatever I want, and he never breathes a single word about it.

"We're neighbors. Why can't you give me a lift? Don't be so selfish!" Her voice was so loud that it immediately echoed through the underground garage.

Several neighbors who were about to drive off stuck their heads out and looked over.

Noticing that she had an audience, Charlotte raised her voice. "Listen to this, everyone! This woman has zero compassion. We're going the same way, yet she won't even give me a ride. Is this what passes for a reasonable owner?"

I was astounded by her shamelessness. "First of all, we're not going in the same way. Secondly, this is my personal property, and I'm under no obligation to provide you with transportation."

I lowered my head, looking down at the man whom I had once tried to love with all my heart. Elliot had never loved me; he had only loved the benefits and comfort I could bring him. The moment my existence got in the way of his ambitions, he didn't hesitate for a second to offer me up as a sacrifice. Yet, when he discovered that I possessed supreme power, he crawled back like a dog and begged. "Elliot, you're dirtying my shoes." My voice was ice-cold, devoid of any emotion. The bodyguard beside me immediately stepped forward and kicked Elliot away. "You've already signed the divorce agreement. From this moment on, we're complete strangers. You'd better pray you never cross my path again, because if you do, I'll personally see to it that you're left with absolutely nothing, not even the right to beg on the streets!" Without sparing him another glance, I got into the Rolls-Royce parked in front of me. The car slowly pulled away, leaving Elliot's anguished cries far behind. …

I sat in my spacious executive chair, watching Mia's performance with a straight face. "Elliot told you I conned him out of his money?""That's right! My son hands his monthly salary over to you! Now that you've kicked him out, you have to give every single cent back! Plus, you need to compensate him for emotional distress! I think… 800 thousand dollars is fair!" Mia made an outrageous demand, her greedy face fully exposed. I didn't waste my breath on her. I simply pressed the remote control for the projector on my desk. Immediately, bank statements and notarized documents appeared on the wall across from us. "Elliot's monthly salary is five grand. After deducting his own expenses, he only transfers 500 dollars into the household account every month. Meanwhile, the monthly property management fee for the house you live in is 1.2 thousand dollars. Even the car he drives was paid for in full by me."I pointed at the notarized document on the screen. "This is the prenuptial proper

Slicing his office phone off the hook, Julian called Charlotte. Charlotte was currently hiding out at home, still fantasizing that her husband could settle everything for her. "Darling, have you taught that bitch a lesson for me?" she asked sweetly."Have I taught her a lesson? I'll teach you a fucking lesson!" Julian bellowed. "Who the fuck did you cross, Charlotte? Olivia! That car you smashed, whose the hell is it?" Charlotte was dumbfounded. "I-It's just Olivia from downstairs; she drives that beat-up Audi…""Beat-up my ass! You fucking ruined me! My company's bankrupt, and I'm buried under over ten million dollars in debt!" Julian broke down. "The cops are on their way to arrest you right now. You deliberately destroyed property that was worth over a million dollars, so you'd better get ready to rot in prison for the rest of your life! "That said, I'm announcing our divorce in the newspapers right this instant. You're on your own now!"Holding her phone, Charlotte start

"Olivia, what on earth did you do?" Elliot demanded. "Mr. Blackwell just called me and told me that you not only refused to settle, but you also threatened to destroy his company! Do you have any idea who he is? He can crush us with the snap of his fingers! "In any case, you're coming with me to the police station to drop the charges right now! Also, you're going to burn that bullshit damage assessment report!" he snarled, reaching out to seize my arm. Before he could even lay a finger on me, two black-clad bodyguards stepped forward, pinning his shoulders down tightly from both sides. With a loud thud, he was forced to his knees on the carpet, unable to move an inch. "What do you think you're doing? Unhand me! Olivia, where did you find these thugs?" Elliot thrashed wildly, lifting his head to look at me in utter disbelief. I lifted my coffee mug and took a small sip. "I've already filed for divorce, Elliot. My affairs are none of your business.""Divorce? Dream on!" Elliot gl

The matter blew up even faster than I had expected. The next morning, the neighborhood's group chat suddenly exploded. Charlotte posted a thousand-word essay in the group, pouring out her grievances through tears. "Everyone, you must see the true colors of Olivia from the 16th floor! She deliberately drove a beat-up car to set me up. I merely accidentally dirtied her car seat a little, and she actually teamed up with others to defraud me of 1.8 million dollars! "She even bribed the cops to throw me in a holding cell for interrogation! We're all neighbors here. How can she be so malicious? Everyone must be careful of this woman; she's a scammer who specializes in extortion!"The group chat was flooded with messages in a matter of seconds. "Jesus, 1.8 million dollars? That's highway robbery!""Olivia always seemed so quiet and down-to-earth. I never expected her to be so wicked.""We have to kick this kind of person out of our community! She's a hazard!""@Olivia Hurry up and

"Understood, Ms. Callahan! We'll be there within five minutes!" Theodore Sinclair's voice instantly turned grim and lethal. I ended the call and looked coldly at Charlotte. "You said you'd compensate me with 100 dollars?"Charlotte crossed her arms, her face filled with mockery. "What, do you think that's too little? In that case, I'll give you 200 dollars! It's just a cheap ornament in a beat-up car. Don't you dare extort me!"Olivia, your husband literally just threatened to divorce you. So, you should drop the act and get down on your knees! If I'm feeling generous, I might tell my husband to throw you a bone so you don't starve!"Her girlfriends behind her burst into laughter. "For real. I can't believe a frumpy housewife who can't even keep her own husband in line dares to challenge Charlotte!""This car was probably bought on an installment plan by her husband. This is just hilarious!"I paid absolutely no mind to their ridicule. The seconds bled into minutes, and before
