I throw a punch. Then another. “You failed me!” The words hit like a fist, so I hit back.

“Take care of your brother… Brother…” Dad’s voice reverbs in my head, and I drive my fist into the heavy bag again.

My head’s a mess, for once I agree with Ashton: I’ve been selfish. But I carried the Pack on my shoulders. I was young. Everything was on me. And worst of all, he shut me out. He wouldn’t even let me in.

I keep hitting. My knuckles burn; blood beads up and slides down my palm, but I barely feel it. The bag swings, groans, and keeps coming back like everything I can’t make stay down. This is how I let the rage out. This is how I punish myself. I’m in my private gym.
