Amelie’s POV

I woke up choking on air, my heart racing in my chest.

It’s just a dream. It’s just a dream.

I said repeatedly, rubbing my chest as I tried to calm myself down.

But it had felt more than just a a dream.

The dream lingered, thick and sticky behind my eyes like blood on silk.

I could still feel the altar beneath my heels, still hear the priest’s words echoing through the cathedral. My father’s hand had gripped my wrist too tightly—tight enough to bruise. And Ferdinand’s hand had clamped down over mine like iron. Binding. Branding.

“You’ll learn to stop fighting,” he whispered in the dream, and it felt just like reality. “Wife.”

I bolted upright.

Sweat clung to my skin. My lamp flickered weakly in the corner. I was in the estate. Not at the altar. Not beside Ferdinand. But the cold didn’t leave my bones. I glanced at the foot of the bed, half-expecting to see him sitting there, watching me like he had every night in my nightmares.

Ferdinand was a scary man, anyone who enc

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Worse than we are

_Amelia’s POv_I stared at Luca, the paper staring at me from between his fingers. They had been in my room. I just knew it. That was the only way they’d have those notes in their hands. But yet my breath caught and I had to ask. “Where did you get that?”Luca’s voice was ice. “We were going to check your room for clues. For anything, Ferdinand might’ve left behind. Instead, we found these.”He threw the note onto the coffee table in front of me.It was the last note I had gotten from Ferdinand. “But if you think about it, it’s still a clue.” Matteo hissed at me but my eyes were fixed on the table. The fingers dug into my palm, words failing me. “Come on Amelie, give us an answer,” Nico said, but still, I remained quiet. Was it the guilt or shame? I couldn’t tell. But the looks on their faces made me avoid their gazes even more. The words stared up at me like a slap. My stomach turned.Matteo held up another and another. Each one was a knife. Each one was undeniable. The le

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Notes

_Amelie’s POV_I didn’t sleep.Even with Matteo’s arm draped around me and Luca stationed at the door like a sentry, I couldn’t shut my eyes without seeing Ferdinand’s silhouette waiting at the end of that hallway. The image clung to my eyelids like it had been burned there—every line, every inch of darkness that had formed the shape of the man who haunted my nightmares. It was all I could ever see.The boys tried. Matteo pulled me against him and murmured soft reassurances. Which was quite surprising, but I couldn't complain. Even thought that maybe I got them mixed up again, but when I called out his name he had answered.Nico adjusted the blanket around me twice, then gave up, standing by the window like a statue. Luca barely moved except to check his phone, his expression unreadable, locked in that cold, calculating mode he entered when things went sideways. But I couldn’t rest.Couldn’t stop thinking, my mind working at a million miles per second. My brain couldn't work this f

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Ferdinand

_Amelie’s POV_The lights went out.A sharp click—then blackness. Thick, absolute, swallowing the room in a breathless void. And I froze. For a second, all I could hear was the wild thud of my heartbeat against my ribs. I couldn't see anything, and that was enough for me to panic. Especially after seeing what was carved inside the closet. After knowing someone had been in my room without my knowledge. The hum of electricity had vanished, leaving only silence. A silence that pressed against my ears like hands wrapped around my throat.I stepped back instinctively, bumping into the open closet door. My hands fumbled along the wall, searching blindly for the switch. Nothing. The lights had been cut off. My fingers scraped the plaster, nails catching on the old paint. Useless. And then I heard it.A creak outside the door. Soft. Drawn-out. Like someone putting deliberate weight onto an old floorboard.Like they wanted me to hear it.It couldn't be…No.No, no, no.Panic surged. My bo

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Not safe

”Amelie’s POVI was losing sleep. Not because of the triplets. Not even because of Luca—although his silence affected me more than his body ever had.It was something else now. Something that moved in the shadows and spoke through folded paper.Ferdinand. The notes kept coming.Small. Innocent-looking.But they bled poison. The last one still sat at the bottom of my drawer, hidden beneath shirts I owned. “Soon.” A letter.. That was all it had said. But it screamed. And now, I jumped at everything.I had lost my sleep and a little bit of my sanity too. I jumped at any little thing and I found myself turning the deadbolt twice on my door every night. Closing the curtains tightly. Sleeping with the lamp on. Listening for sounds that shouldn’t be there—the creak of wood, the drag of breath that wasn’t mine. The worst part was that nothing ever happened while I was awake.Just the morning after.Just the notes.Like they waited till I slept just so they could mess with my brain. And

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Ferdinand

.Amelie’s POVI hadn’t seen Luca since that night. Not really. Not the version of him who touched me like he hated how much he needed me.Now he was silent. Worse than silence. Distant. And I didn’t know if it was guilt or regret or just… survival.Matteo was cold, sharp with his sarcasm, avoiding any room I entered.Nico? He watched. Always watched me. But never asked again. And that—more than anything—unraveled me.I couldn’t even understand why they avoided me.So I buried myself in the only part of the estate where no one followed me: the library. It was empty, mostly. The triplets had more use for bullets than books. The staff never lingered there. That was exactly why I did.It was the first place I ever learned about the family business. And the first place Santiago taught me to lie with a smile. Now, it was quiet.Too quiet.I sat cross-legged in the corner behind the farthest shelf—old leather-bound volumes stacked around me like walls. A book lay open in my lap, pages unrea
