No Mercy

_Luca’s POV_

The world didn’t just crash—it folded in on itself.

Metal screamed, the kind of sound that splits straight through bone, as the truck slammed into us from the left. One second, Raphael’s car was in sight.

The next, the entire universe became shattering glass, the whip of a seatbelt against my chest, my skull slamming hard enough into the headrest that stars burst behind my eyes.

We spun over and over.

Tires screeched, grinding rubber against asphalt. The car tipped, swayed, threatened to roll. Matteo cursed, Nico’s guttural shout ripped the air, and I—

I couldn’t breathe.

The scent of gasoline hit first, sharp, acrid, burning. The way it always had.

And right now I wasn’t there anymore.

My vision wasn't of the car but of flames licking through wooden beams, smoke choking the air and skin blistering from heat.

The smell of burning hair. The sting of fire so close it kissed the inside of your lungs.

Suddenly I wasn’t thirty-two years old behind the wheel of a wrecked c

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Escape

_Amelie’s POV_ The sound of metal shattering was still in my head when I woke up with a start. It was all I could hear. Screeching tires, the roar of the impact and the sickening crunch of a car folding in on itself. My stomach lurched violently and before I even knew what was happening, I rolled onto my side, gagging. Bitter acid scorched my throat as I vomited onto the floor beside the mattress, body heaving so hard my ribs felt like they would snap. Please no. Let it all be a dream. I prayed harder than I ever did that everything that happened was a dream and maybe I had died after I passed out on the road. But It was too real. Too close and I knew better than that. I could still see it, burned into the back of my eyelids. The way the truck came out of nowhere. The way Luca’s car spun, flipped, shrieked. I swear I heard the sound of Nico’s shout breaking mid-word and Matteo’s curse swallowed by the crash.I had heard them scream as Raphael stared at me, showing me what type

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Gone again

_Amelie’s POV_The door slammed and the world tilted. My cry was still caught in my throat, raw from forcing Nico’s name past the dryness of my lips. I’d seen him, I knew I had, just for that breathless heartbeat before the hand shoved my head down and I was swallowed by the dark interior of the car. I clutched at the seat, at anything, struggling against the press of the hand that still forced me low, and my chest heaved as the engine roared beneath me. They had come for me. Nico came for me and was so close to getting me. He was right behind me. I needed to… My eyes darted to the door and the person who sat in between. There was no way I could get the door to open and throw myself out. But I knew that if I could, I would do it without a second thought. The vibration ran through my bones, through my aching ribs, through the bruises that seemed to cover every inch of my body. I coughed hard, the taste of iron rushing into my mouth, and blinked furiously against the blur in

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Headlights

_Nico’s POV_I watched Amelie stir awake, and our eyes locked for a brief second before her head was shoved into the car.And I heard it, I swear I heard it before the car door was slammed shut. The loud cry of my name, her begging me to come save her.“Nico! Help me, please!”That seemed to jolt me out of whatever shock I had been in and I cursed myself as I resumed my chase. Why the fuck had I stopped? I could have kept running instead of freezing like a moron. Please no.Let me get there on time. Please!Raphael instantly entered the driver’s side. The car engine roared, coughing smoke from its exhaust, the sound rattling through my bones. No... No, please. I ran harder, legs pumping, lungs burning, and the ground itself felt like it tilted under me. My palm slammed against the window just as the tires screeched and the car swung forward, throwing gravel and dust straight into my face.“Fuck!” I shouted, choking on the grit. My hand dragged down the glass as it lurched away, lea

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Raphael

_Nico’s POV_Someone had seen her. That was the only thought in my mind as I ran under the scorching sun, hoping to get there before he did. Hoping I could save her before it’s too late. We had been sent on another wild goose chase by Raphael when one of our men called. Amelie was last seen being carried into the hospital. She had been unconscious at that time. My heart had dropped to the bottom of my stomach as I turned on my heels and ran. I ran because the traffic on the road was too much and I was so scared of losing her. I ran because she must have felt scared too and I wanted to wrap my hands around her and tell her everything was going to be alright. My lungs burned, my throat was dry. Every bit of me asked me to stop, slow down. But I didn’t stop. I couldn’t afford to do that when I knew she needed me. Every second mattered to me. Every second was one more where she was alone, scared, thinking no one was coming for her.My brothers were behind me somewhere, Luca swe

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Escape or not

Amelie’s POV The first thing I felt when I came around was softness. A pillow under my head. Sheets against my skin. It felt too clean, too smooth to be real. For a long moment, I lay perfectly still, afraid that moving would break it. Afraid that if I opened my eyes, I would find bars above me again, rust biting into my fingertips, and stone scraping my back. But the smell was wrong. Not mildew. Not rust. Not the damp, rotting air of the cage. This was… antiseptic. It was sharp and sterile, biting my nose. And then finally I opened my eyes. White ceiling. A single humming light fixture. The faint beeping of a monitor somewhere close. My throat closed. A hospital. I was in a hospital. For one wild, dizzy moment I thought—I did it. I really escaped. Someone must have found me on the road, limp and broken in the sun, and carried me here. Somewhere safe. Somewhere away from Raphael’s men. So that meant I did it, right? The relief was so sharp it hurt. My eyes stung and I pres
