_Amelie’s POV_

The car ride back from the church was silent.

Elias’s hand never left mine, but I could feel the tension in his grip.

His fingers wrapped around mine like he was trying to hold me together without knowing how. I stared out the window, my reflection ghosted against the glass. The veil still hung over my shoulder, the fabric torn a little where I must’ve pulled at it in the chaos.

So much for expecting a happy wedding.

Outside, the world moved as if nothing had happened. people walking, laughing, living.

The sun still shone. Birds still flew. And yet everything inside me felt ruined, broken, out of place.

I wasn’t supposed to see them again.

Not like that.

Not ever.

The moment the doors of the church burst open replayed in my mind like a punishment — Nico’s voice cutting through the air, calling me by the name I’d buried all those years ago.

Amelie.

It didn’t even feel like mine anymore.

It angered me more because they were the ones who asked me to bury that name.

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Just breathing

_Amelie’s POV_I didn’t sleep. Not that I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t. The night stretched forever, heavy and silent, broken only by the sound of cars passing outside and my own uneven breathing.Every time I closed my eyes, I heard the gunfire again. I saw Nico’s face. I saw Elias standing between us, confused and angry and trying to understand something I couldn’t explain. When dawn came, it didn’t feel like a new day. It felt like another reminder that I couldn’t keep pretending. The light through the blinds painted long stripes across the floor. The coffee pot hissed softly. I moved around the kitchen without thinking—boiling water, setting two mugs, trying to fill the silence with anything that sounded normal.Elias hadn’t slept in our bed. I’d heard him come in late, after the police cleared the restaurant. He didn’t say a word. Just took off his jacket, sat on the couch, and stared at nothing. I watched him from the doorway for a long time, wanting to speak, but the words

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Protect

_Amelie’s POV_How did it all end up like this? Today wasn’t supposed to end like this. It was meant to have gone well. But ever since they came back into my life, bothing has ever been the same. “Because this time, if I don’t, I will die.”I stood frozen on the pavement, my pulse shaking through me like a trapped bird. The restaurant behind us was chaos — broken glass, people shouting, flashing red and blue lights bouncing off the windows. And in front of me stood Nico.He looked so calm it made me sick. Black shirt, dark jacket, the faintest bruise shadowing his jaw. His men lingered a few feet away, silent and unreadable. It was all too much, too familiar — the control, the precision, the danger wrapped in stillness.I was shaking when I whispered, “Why are you really here?”He didn’t answer. His eyes flicked past me, toward the restaurant doors. And then I heard it — my name.“Chiara!”I turned just as Elias pushed through the crowd, his shirt streaked with dust and smoke, his

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Please

_Amelie’s POV_Elias said I needed to breathe. He said we needed to do something normal — dinner, laughter, maybe wine, maybe silence that didn’t hurt.I agreed, not because I wanted to go, but because pretending helped. Pretending was survival. At this point it seemed that all I was doing was just pretend. So I put on a dress.Simple. Black. Something that didn’t remind me of a wedding that never happened. He drove quietly, one hand on the wheel, the other finding mine when the lights turned red. His thumb brushed my palm the same way it always did when he sensed I was somewhere else.“I know it’s been a lot,” he said softly. “But tonight, let’s just… breathe, okay?”I nodded, smiling as the knot in my chest loosened a bit.Breathing had never been easy since they came back. Since Luca walked into my hospital and brought with him things I’d buried. The restaurant was warm, golden, full of laughter and noise. I should have felt safe there — surrounded by strangers, far from danger, t

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Not too late

_Amelie’s POV_The morning after felt like stepping into a dream I hadn’t chosen.Elias had insisted I take the day off, but work was the only place where my mind could breathe. At least there, people only expected results — not answers.I left the house before he could argue, telling him I needed distraction. He kissed my forehead, reluctant but trusting, and let me go.The city moved in its usual rhythm — cars honking, heels tapping against pavement, vendors shouting over the morning buzz. The normalcy of it all felt wrong. After everything that had happened, I wanted the world to look different. But it didn’t. It never did.At the hospital, I smiled at the receptionist, forced and brief, then went straight to change my clothes . I buried myself in clinicals, rushing between patients as I tried not to think about the wedding that never was, the names I’d tried to forget, the faces I couldn’t escape. For a while, it worked. Talking to the patients took everything off my mind.Until i

  • Bound By Blood: The Step-Brothers' Temptation   Pain

_Amelie’s POV_The air was too still.Too bright.Too wrong. The doors had burst open with a bang , and there they stood. The three people I never wanted to see.Nico, Matteo, and Luca. The triplets. My ruin and my past. For a moment, no one moved. Not even me.My lips parted but no sound came out. The church bells that had once sounded like music now felt like knives in my ears. I couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. Couldn’t understand how this was real.It wasn’t supposed to be.Nico’s eyes found mine immediately, the same eyes that had once promised protection, warmth, everything I thought I’d never lose. Now, they burned with something else—something darker, heavier, something that cut deeper than I was ready for.“Did you really think I would let you get married to another?” he said. The words fell like thunder. My body froze. The room spun.I heard people whispering. I saw Elias’s face shift from confusion to concern. I felt Sofia’s hand brush my arm as she whispered my name, but
