If Wade could burst into flames at that moment , I was sure he would. His hand clamped down on mine under the table. His grip was tight enough to bruise as he leaned in, his breath fanning my cheek.

His voice was razor sharp when he spoke. “What did you know about this law?”

I should have shaken him off, and ignored him completely, but part of me wanted him to hear the truth. I shrugged. “I knew nothing until today,” I shot back. “But I’m glad it’s happening. Let go of me.”
