Chapter 39

Nicholas's POV

I was still with Juarez when Laura informed me of Mark's demise. The news of his death was a hard pill to swallow, even for me. I told Juarez what had happened, and we observed a moment of silence for Mark while praying for his soul to rest in peace.

Soon after, I left his penthouse and headed to the airport. A few hours later, we were in London, making our way straight to my secret hideout. Laura was finally free. She no longer had to live in fear of someone threatening her life, at least not for now. The thought of breaking the news to her and witnessing her reaction had initially brought me joy, until I received the sad news of Mark's passing. I sighed heavily.

"If only you had fought through this cancer, Mark, you could have become a free man yourself, or maybe even come work for me if you wanted," I thought, reflecting on the missed opportunities.

A few minutes later, we arrived at the secret hideout.
