The Exposure

"Oh my gosh, she didn't tell you?” She said mockingly. “Your precious Elowen collapsed right in the waiting room”.

Cassian walked right close to me.

“Is that true huh?”

I didn't know what to say. There was no way I could tell him that I was pregnant and talk more about telling him that I was pregnant. Never!!!

“I was t.. tired”. I finally said.

“Haha, do people now faint when they are tired?”

Yura laughed mockingly.

“Enough!!”. Cassian roared at her.

He came close to me and held my hands.

Yura watched him do that in great bewilderment.

I could say hate and jealousy in her eyes.

“You have not held anyone like that before”. Yura said with a tone of jealousy.

Cassian ignored and kept persuading me to open up.

Yura instead intervened.

“She fainted from shock”. She said, twirling her hair.

“What shocked her?”

Cassian asked with raised eyebrows.

“Mmmh, it seems she hasn't told you”.

“Stop!!” I cried.

“Elowen is pregnant”. Yura bursted out smiling evilly at me.

Cassian staggered back, looked at me and at Yura.

“Is that true?”

“Um…

“Tell him how many before he finds out in the worst way”.

Yura said with a smirk.

Cassian became so confused. He couldn't understand if the both women were playing with his instincts.

Then, Yura bursted out again revealing the fact that Yura was carrying twins.

Cassian gasped in shock.

He enquired from Elowen and she finally agreed with what Yura said.

Cassian promised to protect Elowen Hart as she was carrying his kids.

He told Yura that she was under his protection and it got Yura infuriated.

He asked Yura to leave his office instead she threatened him.

“You are forgetting something Cassian”. She said,

“What?”

She leaned closer to him and told him that Blackmoor men don't get happy endings.

“Leave!” Cassian shouted at her.

“You might want to check your father's files before you try to play hero”. She said,

Cassian's heart sank.

“What…”

Before he could ask her she had already slammed the door.

“My father?” He murmured.

“If she's lying we will find out”. Cassian said to Elowen.

But Cassian didn't waste time, he knows that whenever Yura makes a threat, it's never empty.

The truth was out now, I didn't know whether to feel relieved or terrified but it felt like a burden had been released from my shoulders.

Cassian entered the elevator to his penthouse without a word to his assistant.

He went to his father's house that has been locked and silent for years.

He was denied access until he inputed a code that has not been used since his eighteenth birthday.

Cassian crossed the room towards the large mahogany desk, opening drawers he had never cared or thought of opening before.

They were filled with contracts, letters, travel records and then he came across a black folder that was unraveled and he gasped.

I was sitting on the edge of my bed breathing in panic when I got a message from Cassian

“Are you home?”

I stared at the text for a while pondering then I typed positively.

“Stay there”. He said.

My chest tightened. I didn't know what exactly to make out from the text.

Cassian kept flipping through the pages in the file. It contained hospital receipts, records and non-disclosure agreements.

One name appeared repeatedly in the file.

ELIWEN HART.

Cassian froze. The resemblance was clear. Elowen Hart was not a coincidence.

The file revealed the truth. Elowen wasn't new to his family.

She was in his childhood and the one his father claimed to have died.

Cassian slammed the folder shut with his heart pounding violently. This wasn't about Yura anymore. It was about blood, ties and power.

His father's head of secretary came in and told him that he was never supposed to see the file.

It had been a secret for a while.

“Who is Elowen Hart?” He asked him.

“She was your father's first sin and biggest secret”. The secretary said quietly.

Her mother was pregnant before she left and Cassian's father was told that the baby had died.

He checked through the files and saw a photograph of a young woman holding a newborn baby and written on it was the location where Elowen was born. England.

Back at my apartment, I was quiet and a knock came twice and I got a message from Cassian asking me not to open the door for anyone.

I went away from the door heading towards the bathroom when I heard a male voice.

“Miss. Hartwell,” we just need a minute of your time”.

I stood staring at the door waiting for the worst to happen in fear.

I wondered how they knew where I lived

Holding onto my phone with hands trembling and heart beating faster.

I sent Cassian a message telling him that someone was at my door.

There was no reply.

My chest burned with terror as the handle of the door rattled faster and harder.

And then, the door clicked.

The door slowly began to open.
