Thalia's POV

The last bite of cold toast tasted like ash in my mouth. My stomach roiled, not from the hunger, but at the knot of fear that had developed with every sentence uttered. I was their "anomaly," their "human lie detector," their "meal.”

"Alright," Blaze's voice shattered the silence. "Let's go. No time to waste."

He rose from the table, and they all did, I also rose, my own legs feeling heavy, almost unwilling to move.
