Honestly, this wasn’t how I imagined the book to end. I still had a lot of ideas, but as I gave it some thought, I knew that I was dragging the plot unnecessarily, and I think Alex and Ruby deserve their happy ending after all they had been through, even though it may not be what you wished for.I have learned that sometimes less is more, and that is what I am looking for in this book.Their future is left for you readers to decide, so be creative and leave a message on how you think they should have ended, and I would be happy to contribute and add my own theory.I want to thank everyone that has been reading the book even up to this point; you are the reason I kept this going.Your comments and gems were really appreciated.I do have a tiny favor for you. I tried to open my eyes, but a heavy sensation weighed them down, preventing me from doing so. It felt as though I was confined within my own body, unable to move. I struggled again, but it was all in vain. When I managed to blink them open, the rays of the sun coming from the window made me regret my decision, and I hurriedly shut them closed. I wasn’t one to give up, so I tried again, squinting my eyes to reduce the light, but it only brought more discomfort. My senses were dulled, as if I were submerged in a pool of water, unable to escape its grasp. My throat hurt as I tried to take a deep breath, and a weak cough left me, but even that was enough to leave me drained and tired. I tried to turn my head around to figure out where I was, but that was a horrible mistake because pain flared up from every part of my body. It triggered the machine because it began to go off, blaring warning sounds, and I cringed. The noise was too much for me to bear. I was too lost trying to get th
Staying in the hospital for so long has a negative side effect; it must have affected my hearing because there was no way I just heard what he said. “Excuse me?” I tried to bark, but it ended up coming out like a plea. Have I mentioned I hate hospitals? Because I hate them so much. But anyway, back to the situation at hand. “What did you just say?” “You have been betrothed to me, and once you are out of the hospital and strong enough, we will begin to make plans for the wedding.” I looked at him like he had grown two heads, refusing to believe what he was spilling from his mouth. With the little strength I had in me, I glared at him, letting him know that I wasn’t going to believe any of that shit. “Alright, you can come out now. The surprise is over.” I said to whatever camera crew was filming this shitty excuse of a surprise. “Hahaha, very funny.” I said, but I wasn’t finding it funny at all. If someone doesn’t tell me what was going on here, I'm going to lose it. I was about
I laid back on the bed, releasing a sigh of relief now that they were gone. I needed the space to think and put things in order. But that was going to wait for a while because I had exhausted myself talking to my ‘family’ and I could feel the cold wind of sleep blowing across the room.It didn’t take long before I answered the call, and I was already fast asleep.I woke up after a while, feeling lifeless. There was no one in the room; even my foster siblings hadn’t come to see me.I know I wasn’t particularly sunny, but no one deserved to be alone, especially confined to a sick bed.But all that was quieted when the door gave way to the nurse from earlier. I think she was Bella or something. She was in her regular clothes, and now that I was clear headed, I could say that she is a beauty.“Hello, Ruby. It is nice to see you awake.”“Thank you.” I replied, and my gaze fell back to her clothing. She was in a black sweater and washed mom jeans, but she managed to look good. “Oh yea. It i
“Excuse me?” I said, regaining my strength, and I was going to make sure he knew how I felt.Alexander released a sigh, his eyes glancing at the watch on his wrist. “I don’t have time for this, Ruby. You were already aware of the recent developments. You are to be my wife, so you have to start living there.”"No, that is not going to happen. Not under my watch." I don’t care if I sounded childish, but I wasn’t going to follow him home. “I am not following you home; I didn’t sign my name in any contract, so it doesn’t hold.”“I don’t have time for this.” He said under his breath, and with a snap of his fingers, people began to come in. They were all dressed in black, like they were in a cult, and I shifted to the wall, trying to defend myself. The men marched into the room, taking up my personal effects, and began to haul them out.“You can’t do this. It is against the law.” I threatened, clutching my pillow for defense, but he simply looked at me and smiled. And for the first time, I
“What are you trying to do, Alex?” I asked, inching backwards till I hit the pillows, and I grabbed them for support. “Don’t do this, Alex.” My heart was pounding fast behind my rib cage.“What am I doing?” He asked, his lips curling in a smirk. “I was just trying to get my box.” He said, stretching his hands and grabbing the cufflink case on the bed.I looked at him with wide eyes, grateful that he hadn’t done anything to me. I shifted toward the edge of the bed and stood up. I needed to feel like I was in control, and standing up worked.“Where would I be sleeping?" I asked him, and he looked at me like I had gone crazy.“The bed is big enough for both of us, and I promise I don’t snore, so you are good to go.” My eyebrows shot up, looking at him like he was a joke.“You must be joking.” But he didn’t reply; instead, he continued working his buttons until the last one popped out.I watched, trying to act nonchalant as he removed his clothes. He was putting on a white singlet, but he
I held my clothes to my body as I ran, praying he didn’t have any domestic staff around; otherwise, they would just get a free view of their employer’s wife's naked buttocks.I ran, even though I didn’t know where I was going. All I knew was that I needed to be away from him before I did something crazy.I stopped at the first door that looked like it would lead to a room, and I opened it, praying it wasn’t leading to a secret lair. It wouldn’t be bad, though; I could just get away with some money. Lord knows I needed them. But my instincts were right, and it was a room.I went inside, bolting the door so he couldn’t come in even if he wanted to. And I laid my head on the door, running through the last few minutes in my mind.My thighs were still sticky with my cum, and my nipples still ached from his mouth.“Fuck!” I screamed in the empty room. “Was it wrong with you? You just had to throw yourself at him like some hoe.”I was the one telling him that I didn’t want this wedding, but
“Hands off my man.” I said in a cold, chilling voice that the woman was dropping her hands off him like she had touched hot coal.“Woaw. My bad, I had no idea he was taken.” She said raising her hands in surrender to show that she meant no harm.“Easy there, Tiger,” Alex said, his hands wrapping around my waist and drawing me closer to him. "Cassandra here is my cousin, and we stumbled into each other in the mall. She just came to say hello.”“Oh.” My voice was low and small as I felt color rush to my face. “I’m sorry about that.” I apologized, stretching my hand for a handshake. She took my hands, and I looked down at her well-manicured fingers, a far cry from mine, and my cheeks were aflame. Her palms were so soft, like she had never been exposed to menial jobs before, while mine were nothing to write home about.“It is fine; I know what it is like when you are in love. Trust me, I would be like that with any girl I catch around my man.” She said it with an eye roll, and I chuckled.
