Chapter Two
Liana’s P.O.V
My eyes fluttered open slowly as I blinked my eyes continuously, I quickly squeezed my eyes shut because of the blinding lights that seeped through my eyelids as soon as I flicked my eyes open. I felt a sharp pain in my head as I placed my hand on my head and wrapped my other hand around myself tightly.
“Where was I? Was in heaven already?” I thought inwardly as the memories of Matilda pushing me from the rooftop flooded my head, causing me to groan. My throat felt dry instantly as soon as I recollected how she pushed me from the rooftop.
The only thing I wanted to do was to tear her apart and make her suffer for being the one behind my murder. But what could I do when I was dead already and I was in another realm?
However, wait for a second, if I was in heaven, why did I feel a sharp pain in my head earlier and why can I hear the sound of the fan creaking slowly plus the train whirring from afar?
My eyes flicked open instantly as I swiveled my gaze around the room, trying to process where I was for a moment. Slowly, it started to dawn on me that I was in the room that I have always stayed in when I was still living with my parents before deciding to move out of the house.
“I must be dreaming, what am I doing here?” I questioned myself as I blinked my eyes continuously, scrutinizing the room with my eyes when I suddenly caught sight of the calendar. I jumped to my feet instantly, sauntering toward the calendar. My eyes almost popped out of my socket when I saw 2018 boldly written on it.
I had barely managed to place one plus one together when the door swung open and the next thing was my parents who rushed into my room with a pink cake as they screamed “Happy Birthday.”
“It is your 22nd birthday and I couldn't be more glad that I gave birth to you. You are the future of the pack and I want you to know that your father and I are proud of you” My mom said cupping my cheeks in her hands while my father placed the cake carefully on the desk as he walked towards me while beaming with a smile.
Never in my whole existence have I been ever frustrated like I was at the moment. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, trying to wrap my head around what could be going on because if I could remember vividly, I was dead and there was no way I would be able to survive that fall from the rooftop! If I could recollect clearly, I had my 22nd birthday years ago and that was the day when I got engaged to Bruce.
Slowly, something popped inside my head as I turned to look at my parents. “Today is my 22nd birthday and I would be getting engaged to Bruce today?”
They both exchanged confused stares with each other before my mom forced out a smile and took my hands in hers. “Of course darling, today is your birthday and you would getting engaged to Bruce”
My mouth slacked open and I was at a loss for words to say because suddenly it dawned on me that I was reborn and the moon goddess had given me a second chance in life. Somehow, I felt this excitement building inside of me because I couldn't wait to make good use of this second chance, set everything right, and most especially, exert revenge on Matilda for what she did to me in the past.
My father jolted me out of my thoughts as he placed a tiara on my head. “I can't just wait for you to get engaged and get married soon” He pinched me on the cheek and as much as I was starting to get comfortable with the love showered on me, I knew that I needed to put an end to the engagement in a way that would leave my parents with no choice than to give in to my demand.
“I am sorry but I need to be somewhere,” I said, rushing out of the room as I made way for a registry, even though I had no idea about what I was doing! I just needed to stop the engagement and I would do anything to make sure that I put an end to it.
Alighting from the taxi, I ran my hands through my hair, obviously having no idea about what to do and for a second, I started to imagine what the hell I was doing at a registry.
Somehow, I found myself dragging my feet into the registry. I swiveled my gaze around the room and caught sight of a lot of couples whose faces were filled with glee. At that moment, I knew that whatever plan I had in mind was never going to work.
I expelled out a sigh, slipping my hands through my hair and I was about to pull my hair out in frustration when I caught sight of a man making a phone call! When he turned toward my direction, my mouth slacked open and I was at a loss for words to say.
His Romanesque nose was accentuated with a high cheekbone and he swept his hair backward with his hands. His hazel eyes gleamed from afar and somehow, I found myself lost in his eyes.
He smacked his lips and I could see a glint of fury in his eyes. There was this cold aura that swirled around him that kind of gave me goosebumps.
“What could he be here for?” I muttered, scrutinizing him with my eyes as I approached him. He didn't look like someone who came for a wedding as he was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts.
I had hardly reached where he was standing when I heard him scream.
“You guys are keen on getting me married and the bride isn't here! If the bride doesn't arrive in the next five minutes, I would get married to just anyone and no one is going to stop me!” He snarled while I blinked my eyes continuously, trying to process what I just heard him say.
There was this excitement building inside of me after hearing his words as I fixed my gaze on the clock that was hung on the wall, keeping track of the time.
I glanced toward the entrance, eagerly waiting for his bride to come. Five minutes passed and I mustered the courage that I had left in me, dragging my feet towards it with my heart beating with trepidation.
I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat, standing before him as he glanced in my direction. His gaze pierced into mine and I found myself lost in his eyes when he raised a brow, I suddenly snapped back to my senses and stretched my hand forward for a handshake.
My face brightened with a smile crept at the corner of my lips “I happened to hear your conversation where you mentioned that if the bride doesn't arrive in the next five minutes, then you would just get married to anyone. Five minutes have already passed, so let me be your bride.”
Chapter Three Conan's P.O.V I cocked my brow to the left, staring at the lady who stood before me with her hand extended. Her upper lips curled and for a second, I was still trying to process the words that I just heard her say. Tilting my head to the left, I glanced back and forth between her face and her hand which was still hanging in the air. The way she smiled kind of annoyed me and made me cringe."Who are you?" I questioned, accessing her with my eyes from head to toe. She had a bright smile on her face that looked more like it could illuminate the darkest corners of a room as her obsidian black hair tumbled over her shoulders. After she noticed that I wasn't going to budge in any way or exchange pleasantries with her, she slipped her hands down her pocket while laughing awkwardly, before clearing her throat."I know that I shouldn't be saying this right now and I know it was wrong for me to listen to your conversation but I couldn't just help it. I need your help because I
Chapter FourLiana's P.O.VTears brimmed in my eyes as the door of the entrance that led to my father's mansion was shut on us. Despite all the taunts and insults, the only thing that kept resounding in my ear and the only voice that kept echoing through my mind was when he said that he disowned me.Never in my wildest imagination did I ever imagine that he would do something like that to me. I knew that I planned to take revenge on Matilda and set everything right but I didn't even think about the consequences of what I was about to do and how it would affect me greatly. It felt as if my whole world was crumbling before my very eyes and it felt as if a needle was pricked into my heart. Swallowing the lump that formed in my throat, my leg almost weakened to the ground and before I could fall, I could feel someone hold me tight by the shoulders. I leaned against his shoulder while he slowly rubbed me on the arms. "Everything is going to be fine, we will talk to your parents when thin
Conan's P.O.VI was at a loss for words to say when I caught sight of Liana pulling the hair of someone who looked familiar but because of the side angle of her face, I couldn't place my head around where I had seen her before. The security personnel rushed inside while I motioned for them to stop, dispersing them with a hand gesture. Despite everything that had happened, Liana kept staring into my eyes with her mouth slacked open and if I would be honest, I didn't know why she was reacting like that. I couldn't just wrap my head around it.I sauntered to her, sweeping the hair that fell on my face to the back while standing before her. All the while, she didn't say anything and kept staring right into my eyes with that same confused expression on her face.I averted my gaze to the lady standing next to her and watched as her eyes grew wide while she quickly covered her mouth in a bid to suppress the gasp that was about to escape her lips. Slowly, it dawned on me that the lady stan
Liana’s P.O.VI wasn't interested in the hullabaloo that was happening in Ming company neither did I care about Matilda and whatever happens to her because honestly, ever since she drove that knife right into my stomach, I had lost all my love and respect for her and the only thing that I was concerned about was what content of the contract that I had signed with Conan. If I could remember vividly, I was more concerned about breaking off the marriage with Bruce Lawrence that my desperation didn't allow me to read the contents of the contract. “I have messed up big-time!” I muttered as I rummaged through the pocket of my trouser that was worn earlier. I knelt and removed the paper. I don't know but I felt like I have signed something that could make my life worse. When he was talking about not leaving him until the marriage lasts for a year, I didn't pay any attention because the only thing that mattered then was just for me to stop the engagement between me and Bruce Lawrence from h
Liana's POVSitting at the back of a van with two different armed men, I knew that my assumptions were coming to pass and Matilda wouldn't rest until she finally took me out of the way. A wave of anger rushed through me as I clenched my fists by my side while a scoff escaped my lips."So she sent a con artist to act like he was Conan's brother. She also sent some people alongside him so that they would succeed in deceiving me and make me think that I am someone so important. Matilda, I am going to make sure that I am your end" I muttered under my breath, glancing at the man who claimed to be Conan's brother. He shot a smile at me while I rolled my eyes to the back, cringing at his smile and almost cussing out at him."I hope that you all burn in hell" I cussed out loud, hoping that he wouldn't hear even though the armed men fixed their gaze on me.Thankfully, he didn't hear because he had his AirPods plugged into his ear.I fiddled with my fingers before wrapping my hands around me t
Conan's P.O.VMy brows knitted in confusion and surprise at the same time as I fixed my gaze on Liana who covered her mouth with her hands in a bid to suppress the gasps that were trying to escape her lips. "Oh, my God!" She screamed at the top of her lungs as she rushed towards me and fidgeted while she tried to take my hands. I saw how her fingers trembled as she stretched her hands toward me. "I swear I had no idea that you are the one, does it hurt? I am sorry," She said hurriedly while I tossed the knife that I had clutched tightly.Connor barged in and when he saw the blood that dripped to the ground, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets. "Who in the world did this, is it you?" He glanced at Liana as he ran his hands through his hair."It is fine, it doesn't hurt" I ignored him, averting my gaze to Liana who was on the verge of panicking as tears welled in her eyes."But you are bleeding, you are bleeding so bad" The tears in her eyes cascaded down her cheeks and for a
Liana's P.O.VDifferent thoughts coursed through my mind and the only thing I wanted to do at the moment was to slam my head against the wall for not reading through the contract before signing it. It felt more like I signed my whole life to him for a year and the mere thought of it caused my stomach to churn.I was jolted out of my thoughts when Conan took my hands in his as we both walked towards the entrance of a huge mansion that was adorned with different flowers and lights. "Don't be nervous, they won't bite or hurt you in any way" He said in a bid to reassure me as he squeezed me in the hands while I forced out a smile.I took in a deep breath but the more I did, the more I was enveloped with a great feeling of nothing but regret. My quest for revenge caused me to sign something that I would have never signed if not for the fact that I was blinded by my thirst for vengeance against Liliana.Gulping on my spittle, I ducked my head while fiddling with my fingers. He suddenly pau
Conan’s P.O.VI knew trouble was brewing after catching sight of Kayla standing at the entrance that led to the dining room. Before I could stop her, she had already gotten to where Liana was, and everything she did ended up annoying me, intensifying the wave of anger that was rushing through me.How dare she yank Liana off like that and who the hell gave her the audacity and temerity to spill Liana’s food over the floor like that?“What the hell did you just do?” I yelled at her, gripping her by the arm as her eyes struck mine. The fury that blazed in her eyes suddenly disappeared as tears welled up in her eyes while her lips wobbled. “Did you have to do something like that?” Her lower lips shook. “Did you have to do this to us? Despite knowing what we shared” She muttered and the next thing that followed was the tears that cascaded down her cheeks, causing her mascara to get smeared around the corner of her eyes. My eyebrows knitted in nothing but utter and total confusion as her
