The time on the wall clock made me gasp. It was almost 10:30, and he wasn't back from work. “Why isn't he back, yet?” I worriedly glanced at the ceiling before I decided to call him to check up on him.

I took my phone from the bedside table and dialled his number, half believing it will be switched off like it was earlier, but I was surprised when the phone rang.
