ELARA'S POV

"Aaron? Aaron, wake up.

"My mouth felt all weird when I talked. Like my tongue was too big or something.

My head hurt real bad. Like someone smacked me with a rock.

Everything hurt. My arms.

My legs. Even breathing hurt.Aaron didn't answer me back. I opened my eyes slow.

The room was way darker now. Most of the candles died out.

The air smelled nasty. Like old pennies mixed with something rotten.

Then I saw him. Aaron was laying right next to me on the cold floor.

His eyes stared at nothing. His shirt was all dark and wet.

Blood. Way too much blood.

"No," I said real quiet.

"No, no, no."I touched his face with my shaky hand. His skin was ice cold.

The kind of cold that means someone's been dead a long time.

Aaron was really dead. My chest felt like something heavy was sitting on it. Aaron was supposed to keep me safe.

He said he'd get me out of this place. He promised he'd figure something out. Now he was just dead like everyone else in this scary room.

RONAN'S POV"Did you hear that?" I stopped walking and grabbed Kael's arm. Something had just brushed against my mind. Soft and desperate. Like someone calling for help from very far away."Hear what?" Kael looked around the dark forest. His silver eyes glowed in the moonlight."Not here. Feel." I pressed my hand to my head. "Someone just reached out to me. Through the mind link." The feeling came again. Weaker this time. But I caught pieces of it. Pain. Fear. A name whispered over and over. Ronan. Ronan, help me."It's Elara," I said. My blood went cold. "She's alive. But she's in trouble. "Kael's face went hard as stone. "Where?"I closed my eyes and tried to feel for her again. The connection was so weak. Like trying to catch smoke with my hands. But there was something else. Something that made my skin crawl."There's dark magic involved. Old magic. The kind that shouldn't exist anymore.""Can you track her?""Maybe. If I can find the sigil traces." I looked at Kael. "But

THIRD PERSON POV " You can't be gone. Not like this. Not when I need you." Darius sat next to Celeste on the cold floor. Her body was so still. Too still. Her skin felt like ice when he touched it. All the warmth was gone. Had been gone for hours. But he couldn't accept it. He wouldn't. His hands shook bad. Blood covered them from trying to stop her wounds earlier. The wounds that killed her. The wounds that meant she was really dead."No," he said out loud. "This isn't how it ends."The room was too quiet. Just his breathing and nothing else. Candles flickered on the walls. Made weird shadows dance. Everything felt empty without her voice. Without her laugh. Without her calling him stupid when he did dumb things. She always called him stupid. She was gonna call him stupid again when she saw what he was about to do.Darius got up fast. Too fast. His head spun but he didn't care. He had work to do. The most important work ever.He thought about the secret room under the old chur

ELARA'S POV My eyes cracked open and fuck everything hurt. Arms, legs, chest, it didn't matter what I tried to move, it all screamed at me. The room was dark as shit except for some crappy little lamp stuck in the corner. The ceiling above me looked like garbage with cracks running everywhere and these nasty brown stains that probably had been there for years.Took me a hot minute to figure out where the hell I was. My brain felt like mush. Then I remembered and wanted to puke. Guards grabbed me when I tried running. Beat the living hell out of me till I thought I was dead.Someone was crying. Real quiet but I heard it. I turned my head and saw Celeste curled up in the corner like some scared animal. Knees pulled up tight, arms wrapped around herself, tears rolling down her face. She was whispering something but I couldn't make it out at first."Sorry," she kept saying. "Sorry sorry sorry."Throat felt like I swallowed glass but I croaked out her name anyway. She whipped her head up

THIRD PERSON POV Elara hadn’t closed her eyes for long before the door creaked open again. Two guards stepped in, silent and hard-faced. They didn’t say a word, one of them grabbed her by the arm, the other pulled her up from the bed like she was nothing but weight. Her feet hit the cold ground, she wobbled, her legs were too weak but they didn’t care and they dragged her through the hallway. The floor scratched against her soles, the air was still damp, She didn’t ask where they were taking her but she already knew.Last night, Darius made his threat clear. If she couldn’t heal Celeste, then she was useless. And if she became useless, he wouldn’t spare her. Or the baby inside her. That was who he was, that had always been. Cold. Selfish. Willing to do anything. He had no line he wouldn’t cross. Elara placed a hand on her stomach, her heart pounding. She had tried, day after day. But nothing helped. Celeste kept slipping. The room was just as she remembered. The same stale scent of i

THIRD PERSON POVElara’s body trembled as she knelt in the damp, frigid dungeon, her once-lustrous auburn hair now matted and clinging to her gaunt cheeks. The air was thick with the stench of mold and despair, the stone walls slick with moisture that seeped into her bones. Once a vibrant and powerful healer revered across the pack lands, she was now a mere shadow, her spirit frayed like a tattered banner in a storm. Her prayers to the Moon Goddess, whispered in the flickering light of a single, sputtering torch, went unanswered, met only by a hollow silence that gnawed at her soul. Her wolf, once a fierce and radiant presence within her, had grown silent and distant, retreating to some unreachable corner of her mind. The bond that had once pulsed with warmth and strength was now a faint, flickering thread, leaving her feeling utterly alone. She reached out through the mind link, her thoughts straining to connect with Kael, her mate, or Ronan, her steadfast friend. Each attempt
