"You have to pay. You have to suffer until you wish you were dead. Only then can you begin to make up for the pain you've caused me."

I turned away, not sparing him another glance, and walked straight into the courtroom.

There, I presented medical reports of my injuries along with evidence of his infidelity during our marriage.

The judge granted the divorce on the spot and sentenced Scott to three years in prison.

Three years. What a joke.

He had turned my life into a nightmare, and all he had to do was spend three years behind bars before getting a fresh start.

I stepped out of the courtroom. The sun was blinding, but it couldn't chase away the darkness in my heart.
