Horace’s POV.
“You’re welcome.”
I said teasingly, making sure my breath fanned against her lips as I reached for the belt, strapping it over her.
She seemed to have gone icy cold. Eyes upfront. Completely avoiding mine.
Unmoving. Unblinking.
I pulled back and rounded the car to get in.
“I thought the driver would take them, and you and I would take another car.” Monicab said.
My head tilted towards her. “Not happening. I’ll drop my wife off where she needs to go. Take the car you came in. I’ll meet you at the council house.”
Without waiting for a response, I got into my jeep,
turned on the engine and zoomed down the road.
“Ahem.” She cleared her throat softly. “So assistant, huh?”
She said, trying to sound casual and uninterested.
I turned my head to meet her.
“Mhmm.” I got an idea to take it up a notch. Just to see how she would react to it.
“Though I might have to update that soon enough. You know, if I can’t get the one I want.”
I warned jokingly.
Her face finally turned to mine. A flicker of something. Jealousy was it. Passed through it.
She quickly masked it with something else.
Silly girl. I thought.
Twenty minutes into the drive, I remembered a call I had to make. My hand reached for my phone in the center console, at the same time as hers did.
Upon realization, she tried to pull back, but I grabbed it roughly. Placing them back in place, mine completely over them.
“Horace.” She mumbled. Voice low, wrapped in a velvety silk.
My skin felt hot, a rush of heat spreading through me.
“You know, if you’re trying to avoid anything between us, hate to break it to you, but you’re doing a terrible job at it.”
Her eyes widened. Stunned. “What does that mean?”
I didn't try to hold back or even pretend.
“The voice.” I started.
That dress and the way it’s hugged around your skin.”
Her mouth opened, but no words came out.
My voice went lower. “That generous show of bosoms threatening to break from their cage.”
“Horaceee!” She cried. “Ethan’s in the car,”
I smirked.
“Of course. And completely asleep, baby.” I teased.
“I mean, we don’t have to do the whole pretend thing when alone. It’s just the two of us in here.”
She said,
“And who said I was pretending?” I retorted instantly.
Her eyes flew open. Mouth searched for words but found nothing. She pulled her hand from beneath mine. Trying to still the shivers her fingers made.
I smiled. Satisfied with myself.
Not long after, we got to the hospital. I parked my car in the CEO’s spot. Right after, I noticed her hand making for the door.
“Don’t,” I warned. My voice is gentle.
She stopped, eyes questioning.
I eased my door open, stepping out gently.
After fixing the hem of my suit, I turned, walking straight for her door.
“Now you can come out,” I said as I pulled her door open.
She stepped out slowly, heels finding the ground first.
She paused, staring at me. “Thank you, Horace.” She mouthed.
I smiled. “I would prefer, babe, though, but I guess Horace is fine.” I scoffed. Feigning annoyance.
Her face morphed into a smile. Small at first, then quickly widened.
It was the first time she smiled genuinely at me since the start of the day.
Not at Ethan or anyone else. But for and because of me.
A feeling tugged at my chest, one I hadn’t felt in years.
I felt lighter, genuinely happier, and ready for whatever the day had in store for me.
“Alright then.” She started, pulling me out of my thoughts, Ethan in hand. “We’ll see you later.”
She added, placing a soft kiss on my cheeks.
I stood, too shocked to even react.
“Thought you wanted to play this game well. Well, we’re in public. I need your staff to know my status as the Alpha’s girlfriend.”
She teased.
My shock morphed into a smile.
“Alright, good one. Could’ve have better though, but still.”
I followed, implying it should have been on my lips instead.
She said nothing, just turned on her heels, walking towards the hospital.
I stood in place, watching her. Her graceful steps as her hips swayed from side to side.
Something shifted in me.
A surge of desire burned through me. Hard and deep.
I fisted my hand, swallowing hard.
When I was sure they had gone in successfully without any trouble, I got into my car. Driving off. Prepared to go face the council and whatever nonsense they may need me for.
It better worth
Because I didn’t pass up this opportunity for family time for some unworthy reasons.
I closed my eyes for a second. Savouring her picture in my head.
Those full, swollen gifts she had perched on her.
The things I could do with them. To them.
My jaw locked, my grip tightening around the wheel.
I wanted her badly and couldn’t wait to make her mine.
I had to break off her bond with that bastard, Michael. I had to do whatever it took to break her free from his hold.
Destroy the guilt she was still feeling from being mated to him.
And it had to be done sooner or later.
Micheal’s pov.Unable to bear the pain of my wife in the arms of another man, I got to work making plans I was certain could give me results. After much investigation, I found out that Horace’s assistant had always secretly been in love with him.But never looked her way, worse now that Elena had entered the picture. So I reached out to her with a perfect plan.A buried case that happened to Elena back in college, where a rumor was spread widely that she cheated on her exams. Fake evidence was also planted by the accuser, so naturally, the school failed all her exams and was on the verge of expelling her. But, being unrelenting, she was able to find the loopholes in the scheme and managed to discover the necessary evidence needed to prove it was all a lie. This time around, the school carried out its investigations properly and determined her claims to be true. But it was sort of too late. The whole school had heard the story, so when her results were reinstated, students pointed fing
Horace’s pov.I reached for Ethan immediately, unable to digest what Monica was saying.“Elena, come on, I need words. Not silence. Can you explain yourself?” My voice grew louder, more hasty. But she said nothing. Just got, held her head, looking shocked and confused.Like she couldn’t believe someone could discover such a secret. This only made me more unsettled, so I reached for the documents on the table, flipping them open. The moment I went through the contents, my heart sank.I couldn’t believe my eyes. Monica’s words were true. Her medical school results were in front of me, where she failed all courses. No exceptions.“Oh, that’s not all, boss. Flip to the next one.” Monica spat, and in my shocked state, I complied.I flipped to the next page, and it was a report about how she paid off the school and slept with some staff members to get her results and subsequently, her license.“Hah.” I scoffed, my hands shaking as I continued to look at the documents in front of me.The nan
Elena’s pov.I was in the kitchen, lost in the oats I was stirring, that I hadn't realized when someone walked in.His scent travelled to my lungs pulling me back to reality. Then, I felt his body. Rock-hard, against mine.Following his fingers over my arm, brushing down until they reached the food, he used his middle finger to scoop a little.Against my mind's warnings, I turned to watch him as he took his finger to his mouth, licking it off slowly while holding my stare down.My mouth went dry as my gaze lingered on for a tad too long.My throat swallowed.I wanted to look away, but my body seemed to have been stuck. My eyes watched as he repeatedly sucked on his fingers in an unholy manner for what seemed like forever, never once looking away from me.I felt hot all over my body, and slight itchy sensations prickled my skin in dangerous places.I managed. Forced myself, really, to finally look away.My head was filled with so many profane thoughts, I had to force myself to stir con
Elena's POVAfter putting Ethan to bed, I had something to clarify for the upcoming surgery, so I looked around for Horace and noticed he was nowhere to be found.I went to his room, knocking, but was met with silence. So I knew there was only one other place he could be, his home office.I walked gently, as it was already late at night. When I got there, the door was slightly open, but I still knocked lightly and got no reply.Peeping my head in, I noticed he was rather engrossed in something on the desk.So I opened the door and made my way in slowly; he didn’t see me until my voice rang out.“What is that?” I said, reaching to touch the photo. He pulled it away, closing it hurriedly. But not before my eyes registered its content. It was a photo of a woman.Could it be his wife? I thought.“Oh.” Shocked, I pulled my hands back. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have touched it.”He waved me off, shaking his head. “It’s fine. What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in bed?” He follo
Ashant pov.For days, I followed them everywhere, watching from afar as both of them followed each other. At first, I had thought they were pretending.Maybe faking the whole relationship, but now, it didn’t seem that way.He was all over her, wherever they went. But why her, why did have always manage to get the better things?Horace was here all over her, Michael was at home with me, but I knew his mind was still set on her.He told me it was for the license nonsense, but I wasn’t stupid.I saw the way he looked at her things around the house, to an extent, I had to hide them away.Hoping it’ll help him forget her, but none of it worked.Everything I ever wanted, she was getting without even trying.Even though I was an A-list actress with thousands of fans supporting me, I still did things to satisfy him.I cooked, I cleaned. I was even pregnant with his child, not none of it worked. His obsession with her grew especially since she left him. He was never like that when she was stil
Horace pov.I was in Ethan’s room, playing with him, when my mind flashed back to the event of the previous night.I walked into Ethan’s room and saw them sleeping peacefully beside each other. My heart melted as I walked closer to her.At first, I had only wanted to pull a comforter over her, but then, the scene began to wonderful.Like a complete family. So, I had to join in. I lay beside her gently and in no time fell deeply asleep, something I hadn’t been able to do easily in a long while. It was the best sleep I had had in years. The thought brought a smile to my lips, just as another thought entered my head.“So you Ethan son, look at me.”He turned to face me, still laughing from a shattered Lego he had built. When he finally settled down, I started.“So you like Elena very much, huh?”He first looked at me like I said something strange before replying.“I like Mama very much.” He mumbled, going back to building his Lego toys.“Of course, mama,” I muttered, my heart melting aga
