I don’t even remember walking into the hospital boardroom; I only remember the sound of the door as I let it slam hard.

As soon as I walked in, chairs began scraping back, voices died mid-sentence, bodies rose straight to their feet, and a sharp silence fell over the room immediately.

The fear was apparent, and they were very right to feel it.
