Elena’s pov.

Let’s welcome Alpha Horace.

The room erupted in loud applause.

I followed, clapping gently, as I watched Horace walk onto the stage to give a Speech on the importance of giving back to society.

Just then, the corner of my eyes caught something.

Ashanti. Her eyes were deeply buried into me like she was trying hard to figure something out; perhaps she also wasn't sure Horace had come in with me or another woman. But I knew she was hoping for the latter.

She wasn’t sitting with Michael, of course. People who knew him as married were also present at the party, and they definitely knew his wife wasn't some sorry excuse of an actress.

How sweet revenge will be when it finally rains on them. I thought to myself. Smiling inevitably as I turned back to watch my fake boyfriend, who exhumed nothing but majestic power.

Sweet mother of the moon. How the hell have I been able to hold myself back from pouncing on him all the time of been around him?

How have I managed to reject his adva

Horace’s POVI didn’t rush her, I never did, not when it mattered like this.Slowly, I guided her towards the hidden part of the cabin, even though there was no reason to even do that, as we were already alone.Slowly, and deliberately, I began to trace my fingers over her skin— the curve of her waist, her back, and the lining of her shoulders. I touched everywhere to my satisfaction, not bothering to hide my desire. She leaned into every one of my touches like her body had been yearning for it for as long as ever.“Ready?” I asked. She nodded, clearly lost for words.“Good,”We pulled off each other’s clothes one piece at a time with no hurry at all until we were left with nothing hiding all we had to offer. My eyes were on her the whole time, catching the tension that traveled through her skin. It wasn’t a tension of fear or refusal; it was anticipation. My woman couldn’t wait for my hands to run over her in deep, sinful desire. And when she bore her eyes into mine, that truth was v

Horace’s POV“Oh, I can’t wait to see what this is all about since you’ve decided to make it all secretive,” she said, taking one last look in the mirror, and I just smiled in response.I didn’t tell her where we were going; I only told her to trust me.“Trust me, you’re going to like it.”And she did. Just like she always did, she trusted me and walked beside me until we got to the car.Although she was smiling all the way, I could still see everything on her face. I saw the tired eyes, those that showed that she was trying to hold herself together out of pure will, but there was no hiding the stress that the recent events were putting her through. The heaviness of the last few weeks, the too many long days we’ve had, the too many answered questions… The stress of it was written all over her face, no matter how much she tried to mask it.And that stress was what I intended to separate her from tonight.I smiled at her as I drove down the road until we got to our destination— A priva

Assistants POVI sat in a corner of her living room corner, the dim light casting shadows across her face as she walked in. Lilian. My very own fake minion that I carefully polished and sent out to play the role of a perfect nurse, even though she didn’t have the slightest idea what she was doing. It didn’t matter. I didn’t need her to know anything about injections or cutting people up in the name of healing them. I just needed her to know how to push things around swiftly and discreetly without getting caught. And from the way she walked in confidently without any fear on her face, I could almost guess that my plan worked out perfectly. She didn’t notice me at first. She just kicked off her shoes, dumped her bag, and let out a long, satisfied sigh, the smile apparent on the corners of her lips as she slumped onto the couch.I took a deep breath of my own before speaking.“Everything went smoothly, dear?” I asked calmly, rising to my feet and walking out of the dark corner. Her eyes

Horace POVI was just coming out of my meeting when Logan ran up to me quickly.“Alpha, the Luna just called. She said she’s on her way to see you, and I think it’s quite important. She wanted to know if you’re free for the day.”I stared at him questioningly, as I was surprised that he would even ask such a question.“Of course I’m free. Whatever concerns my wife, I am free at any time of the day. Is she still on the line?”He shook his head.“No, Alpha. She already hung up, but she should be on her way by now and should be here anytime soon.”I nodded. “Fine,” I replied, walking towards my office. My mind began to wander. I tried to think of what could be so urgent that would make her leave the hospital that early. Especially knowing that she had surgery to perform that day.My mind didn’t have to wander for long as a few minutes later, the door pushed open, and she walked in. Face full of uncertainty.I rose to my feet, walking towards her. “Are you okay? Logan told me that she w

Elena’s POVI stood in place, watching as she walked towards me.Her name tag was clearly plastered across her badge. Lillian.I already couldn’t wait to ask Horace about it.“Are you all right, Luna?” She asked, concern etched on her face. “That was quite…intense.”“It was,” I replied, trying to control my expression.“The supplies—they’ve been a mess lately. Things keep going missing and turning up in the wrong places. I don’t even know how to explain it. Back at my former hospital, I had even written a few reports to the administration, but nothing was done.”Hmm. “Your former Hospital?”She nodded. “The one down south was where I worked before I was transferred here.”I creased my brows.“Mary Fox Hospital?”She smiled. “Yes, exactly. That was the hospital I worked at before being transferred here, Luna.”Her tone was casual and easy. At that moment, I knew that if I wasn’t already suspecting everything around me, she might have been someone I would’ve pulled close. “Oh, that’s

Elena’s POV“What do you mean by there is no warming blanket? Where the hell could they all have disappeared too? Did you guys not check these things before setting up this room for surgery?” I barked, almost losing my mind at this point. They all ran around, still trying to search for the blanket. But that was a least one of my problems.Everything was happening so fast.As if to mock me, the moment after I barked out those questions, worse things followed that made my earlier fear look like child’s play. Right then, the patient who had been shaking on the table with teeth chattering and hands jerking in short, sharp movements suddenly fell quiet. A hollow quietness that hung in the room immediately.I stilled.“Warming blanket, now,” I said again, this time my voice was much louder. But nothing. There was nothing in their hands and nothing to give me.“IV fluids,” I followed.Someone moved, but still nothing came out of it.I paused. At this point, my heart dropped to my stomach.
