Horace's POV
Ethan came around the corner, and I backed off from Elena, shivering against the corner like a scared puppy. Well, not that she was in any way scared… just a hell of a lot of sexy and surprising.
“Hey buddy, when did you wake up?” I asked, attempting to pick him up from the floor..
To my surprise, Ethan dodged and went straight for Elena, hugging her legs as he voiced out the words,
“Mama?”
The shock on both our faces was so evident that Ethan must have felt the silence that came after. He looked up and then stretched his tired hands for Elena to pick him up.
Elena was still as shocked as I was as she carried my 5-year-old son, and he immediately clung to her, rubbing his tired eyes.
“Seems like you're staying.”
“Uh…” Elena opened her mouth, but she was too dumbfounded to speak. “Wait, what do you mean…”
“Shh”, he hushed me suddenly. “You’ll wake him up.”
Elena lowered her voice, the look of alarm still on her face. “What do you mean I'm staying?”
“Where do you think you're going? Back to your ex-husband's house?”
“No, I'm not. And, he’s not my ex yet, you know. We haven’t broken our mate bond and…”
“So you still love him?”
“I don't”, Elena tried to say firmly without waking Ethan up..
“I don't love him.”
“Then stay”, I said, making my way up the stairs like that was final.
“I can’t just stay. This is the White House. Have you forgotten that you're the..”
“Alpha? What will people say?” I cut her off for the umpteenth time, walking into my study, and she followed closely.
“Let me worry about that, Elena.”
“But …”
“But what?”, I shot back so suddenly, Elena was taken back.
“Aren't you already tired enough? That man, and his low-life side chick, took everything from you, and now you have a chance to make them pay, and you want to give flimsy excuses to cover it up.”
“They are not flimsy excuses!” Elena shot back at me, but her voice was a little too loud because little Ethan raised his head, his eyes still sleepy.
“Mama?”
Elena hesitated and then said, “It's ok. It's ok”, she said, patting his head so gently I was almost jealous. The way she looked at Ethan, the tenderness in her eyes, reassured my wolf that I was not mistaken.
I could hear Elena's breathing in the silence that enveloped us as we both watched Ethan, rubbing one eye and waving his other hand frantically.
“Are you leaving Mama?”
Elena glanced at me, but I had been watching her all along, and then the tenderness in her eyes returned. It was like she fought a war within herself, not to break the little boy's heart. I had had girlfriends in the past after his mum died, and Ethan had never called a single one “mama” before, not even my grandparents.
“No … Ethan. I'm not going anywhere.”
“Please don't leave, mama”, he said, his light voice loud in the quiet room as he wrapped his hands around my neck. “I've missed you.”
Tears welled up in Elena's eyes when he said that, and she hugged him back dearly. They stayed like that for a long time until he slept off again. The maid came to study to take him to his room.
“He's never called anyone 'mama' before", I said, taking a step forward.
Elena breathed out loudly. “Well.. I don't know what to say.”
“Then say it with your actions. Stay here”
“And do what? Look, I appreciate you protecting me and exposing my ex and opening my eyes and all of that, but what are we really doing?”
“Exploring what we have with each other”, I said, walking towards her until she had her back to the counter. I towered over her, trying to hold back my wolf as her endearing body called to every inch of me, my hands wanting to capture the vulnerability of her body. I could feel her just go weak under me, trying to brace herself up, but she was damn well doing a bad job at hiding it.
“But I … I barely even know you, Horace. We just met.”
“But yet you can't deny what's between us?”
“Uh.. I …”, Elena stuttered. “Look, I've not even broken my mate bond yet. How do I know if all of this makes sense?”
“Stay to find out. Get the revenge you deserve. Make them pay and be my “girlfriend”, I said in air quotes, “... while we are at it.”
Elena's beautiful bosoms heaved up and down as she drew every breath, and my eyes wouldn't steer away from them, my wolf wanting nothing else than to be in her right now. I knew she felt the same way too, but she wasn't going to let her guard down easily, at least not now that the man she loved for over four years turns out to be a total scumbag.
“I … I need some time to think. I just got out of my marriage. My head isn't straight, Horace.”
“Well, you can do all your thinking here because I'm pretty sure Ethan would want to see his mama when he wakes up.”
Elena's cheeks flushed red for a moment, and she avoided my eyes, darting hopelessly at the ground. The tiny hands of her dress slid off her shoulders, and I took one up, feeling her body quaver to my touch. My hands went to her waist, and I raised her to sit on the counter, still towering over her even with the height. My hands touched the wall beside her, and I could feel Elena's intense brown eyes piercing into my soul. I was pretty sure she couldn't help but think
“What is this man going to do with me..?”
Elena’s eyes darted to my lips, and I could kiss her there and then, but I needed to resist the raging wolf within. I needed her to trust me.
“Besides, what's the worst that could happen?”
Micheal’s pov.Unable to bear the pain of my wife in the arms of another man, I got to work making plans I was certain could give me results. After much investigation, I found out that Horace’s assistant had always secretly been in love with him.But never looked her way, worse now that Elena had entered the picture. So I reached out to her with a perfect plan.A buried case that happened to Elena back in college, where a rumor was spread widely that she cheated on her exams. Fake evidence was also planted by the accuser, so naturally, the school failed all her exams and was on the verge of expelling her. But, being unrelenting, she was able to find the loopholes in the scheme and managed to discover the necessary evidence needed to prove it was all a lie. This time around, the school carried out its investigations properly and determined her claims to be true. But it was sort of too late. The whole school had heard the story, so when her results were reinstated, students pointed fing
Horace’s pov.I reached for Ethan immediately, unable to digest what Monica was saying.“Elena, come on, I need words. Not silence. Can you explain yourself?” My voice grew louder, more hasty. But she said nothing. Just got, held her head, looking shocked and confused.Like she couldn’t believe someone could discover such a secret. This only made me more unsettled, so I reached for the documents on the table, flipping them open. The moment I went through the contents, my heart sank.I couldn’t believe my eyes. Monica’s words were true. Her medical school results were in front of me, where she failed all courses. No exceptions.“Oh, that’s not all, boss. Flip to the next one.” Monica spat, and in my shocked state, I complied.I flipped to the next page, and it was a report about how she paid off the school and slept with some staff members to get her results and subsequently, her license.“Hah.” I scoffed, my hands shaking as I continued to look at the documents in front of me.The nan
Elena’s pov.I was in the kitchen, lost in the oats I was stirring, that I hadn't realized when someone walked in.His scent travelled to my lungs pulling me back to reality. Then, I felt his body. Rock-hard, against mine.Following his fingers over my arm, brushing down until they reached the food, he used his middle finger to scoop a little.Against my mind's warnings, I turned to watch him as he took his finger to his mouth, licking it off slowly while holding my stare down.My mouth went dry as my gaze lingered on for a tad too long.My throat swallowed.I wanted to look away, but my body seemed to have been stuck. My eyes watched as he repeatedly sucked on his fingers in an unholy manner for what seemed like forever, never once looking away from me.I felt hot all over my body, and slight itchy sensations prickled my skin in dangerous places.I managed. Forced myself, really, to finally look away.My head was filled with so many profane thoughts, I had to force myself to stir con
Elena's POVAfter putting Ethan to bed, I had something to clarify for the upcoming surgery, so I looked around for Horace and noticed he was nowhere to be found.I went to his room, knocking, but was met with silence. So I knew there was only one other place he could be, his home office.I walked gently, as it was already late at night. When I got there, the door was slightly open, but I still knocked lightly and got no reply.Peeping my head in, I noticed he was rather engrossed in something on the desk.So I opened the door and made my way in slowly; he didn’t see me until my voice rang out.“What is that?” I said, reaching to touch the photo. He pulled it away, closing it hurriedly. But not before my eyes registered its content. It was a photo of a woman.Could it be his wife? I thought.“Oh.” Shocked, I pulled my hands back. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have touched it.”He waved me off, shaking his head. “It’s fine. What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in bed?” He follo
Ashant pov.For days, I followed them everywhere, watching from afar as both of them followed each other. At first, I had thought they were pretending.Maybe faking the whole relationship, but now, it didn’t seem that way.He was all over her, wherever they went. But why her, why did have always manage to get the better things?Horace was here all over her, Michael was at home with me, but I knew his mind was still set on her.He told me it was for the license nonsense, but I wasn’t stupid.I saw the way he looked at her things around the house, to an extent, I had to hide them away.Hoping it’ll help him forget her, but none of it worked.Everything I ever wanted, she was getting without even trying.Even though I was an A-list actress with thousands of fans supporting me, I still did things to satisfy him.I cooked, I cleaned. I was even pregnant with his child, not none of it worked. His obsession with her grew especially since she left him. He was never like that when she was stil
Horace pov.I was in Ethan’s room, playing with him, when my mind flashed back to the event of the previous night.I walked into Ethan’s room and saw them sleeping peacefully beside each other. My heart melted as I walked closer to her.At first, I had only wanted to pull a comforter over her, but then, the scene began to wonderful.Like a complete family. So, I had to join in. I lay beside her gently and in no time fell deeply asleep, something I hadn’t been able to do easily in a long while. It was the best sleep I had had in years. The thought brought a smile to my lips, just as another thought entered my head.“So you Ethan son, look at me.”He turned to face me, still laughing from a shattered Lego he had built. When he finally settled down, I started.“So you like Elena very much, huh?”He first looked at me like I said something strange before replying.“I like Mama very much.” He mumbled, going back to building his Lego toys.“Of course, mama,” I muttered, my heart melting aga
