LOGINAnna sat in Nora Guevarra’s art studio. Nora, multiple pens in front of her, was showing her a couple of sketches of wedding dresses.
“What do you think, Anna?" Nora asked her excitedly. "Those are all great sketches, Nora. They're really lovely,” Anna answered, flipping through the pages. She stopped at a sketch of a princess-style wedding gown. The dress started with a fitted bodice, and flared from the waist down into a full, dramatic skirt. The ball gown silhouette of the dress was simply captivating. Nora's eyes lit up when she saw Anna's expression on seeing the dress. “I really do admire your taste, Anna.” "Do you think this would look great on me?” Anna asked, longingly. "Everything would look great on you, honestly. But this one would look enchanting on you!” Anna smiled sweetly at Nora. She had always been close with Dalton's younger sister. Nora adored her ever since they were kids, and Anna loved her like a true sister. “Let’s start with the modifications right now so we can send the design to the dress makers!” Nora laid down the materials enthusiastically. Anna took a pencil to help Nora with the design. She always admired Nora's creativity, but she also wanted to take part in the making of her wedding dress. After a few hours, they heard a knock on Nora's studio. The door opened and Dianne Guevarra walked in. “Mom!" Nora greeted. “Hello my darlings! I know you said that you wanted to do some work, but I was just so excited!" She walked over to Anna, showing her pictures of different houses. “Anna, my dear, which of these houses do you like the most?" Anna scrolled through the pictures. Modern, luxurious houses appeared one by one. “They're all lovely, Mrs. Guevarra! I don't think I can decide which to pick. I guess I'll just have to rely on your impeccable taste!” Dianne smiled lovingly at Anna. "Oh, I'm excited for the day when you finally call me ‘mom’!” “A week later, and we'll finally be sisters!" Nora added. Anna smiled gratefully at them. It would be nice to finally have a mom and a sister. But she can't help but feel a pang in her heart knowing what this means for Dalton. Dianne was admiring the sketch of the wedding dress when Anna's phone rang. She excused herself before stepping into another room. She took a glance at the screen. It was Dalton. She took a deep breath before answering the phone and pressing it to her right ear. “Yes, Dalton?" she started. At the other end of the line, Dalton let out a sigh of relief. “I thought you weren't going to pick up again." There was sadness in his voice. Anna cleared her throat. “I'm sorry, I was…busy.” Dalton was silent for a moment. “Anna," he said. “I think you know why I called you. "I know you think we have to get through with this engagement, but we do have a choice. We can say no, both of us.” "Dalton, even if I can, I won't.” "Why?” Dalton's voice started to break. Anna was sure that he was trying so hard to control his emotions. "I don't think you're that cruel, Anna." “Why won't you marry me?" Anna shot at him. Dalton took a deep breath before answering. “Because of Lara." "Lara?” Anna repeated in shock. "Yes,” Dalton answered. "What has Lara got to do with this?” "What do you think, Anna?" "Are you…” Anna stammered. "Are you in love with Lara?” "I am.” Anna's lips moved, but no words came out. Her head started to spin. All this time, Dalton was rejecting her for a girl? He was in love with someone else? Anna didn't even know he liked someone. She didn't know that such a girl existed. Her mind raced back to the time she first heard of the name, Lara. They had been hanging out in one of their villas as usual when Dalton brought up a girl's name. Anna had whipped her head in his direction. He was leaning on the balcony, enjoying the view. While Anna was busy stacking up strawberries on her gelato. "Huh?" She popped a strawberry in her mouth. Dalton chuckled. "I said, that Lara girl just looks extra beautiful." "Who? Is she here?" She creased her forehead. She knows that not everyone is allowed near their villa. "She isn't here," Dalton faced her. "She's a popular girl in my university. She's really beautiful." "Huh," Anna had said. "This is the first time I'm hearing you have eyes." Anna didn't pay much attention to that since she really wasn't quite familiar with the girl. She and Dalton attended different universities. Dalton's university focused on business, while her university focused on law. She's not quite acquainted with the students at Dalton's university, unless they were guys who were interested in her. Dalton would shoo them away, though. "They're terrible choices, really," he would tell her. She didn't mind. She wasn't interested in them anyway. Although, she was grateful that Dalton was looking out for her. “Anna,” Dalton's voice sounded through the phone. "If we continue with this, we would be making the greatest mistake of our lives.” “No, Dalton," Anna stammered. “You don't understand." “You're right," Dalton almost shouted, his patience wearing thin. “I don't. I really don't understand why you'd be this heartless. You know how much I value marriage. It's not just any game for me. “If I do have to marry, it would be with the girl I love with all my heart. Otherwise, I would just be fooling myself!” “I'm sorry," Anna mumbled before ending the phone call. Anna dropped down on the nearest chair. Would this really be the greatest mistake of their lives? Can they still call the whole thing off? No, Anna thought. It had already been broadcast to the entire city. Half the wedding plans had already been done. They can't back out now. But Dalton's confession that he loves Lara made Anna doubt herself. Would it really be too late to call off the wedding now? It won't be impossible, anyway, Anna thought. Maybe there's still some time to make things right, after all. She got up, dialling a number on her phone.Anna woke up the next day in Dalton’s arms. With a smile, she examined her husband’s sleeping face. He looked so peaceful like he had nothing to worry about in his life. The occasional frown lines on his face even looked unreal, like they belonged there ever since his mother gave birth to him. While she was busy examining Dalton’s face, his hands instinctively gathered her in a tight embrace as his eyes started to open. What greeted him was Anna’s smiling face. He felt a joyful jolt in his heart at the sight. This is what he had been missing all this time. The couple stared into each other’s eyes in perfect happiness. How they wished time would stop for them and they could stay like this forever!*Bark!*They ignored it for a bit.“BARKKKK!” Axel demanded, now tugging at the sheets.“Okay, okay,” Anna gave in, reaching to pet the aggressive puppy.Dalton groaned. “Do we have to get up now?”“Yes,” Anna replied. “This is the kind of sacrifice you make once you have children.”Dalton gr
Anna laughed as she picked up the puppy who was busy giving her kisses.“What’s his name?” she asked.“He doesn’t have a name yet,” he replied.“Why not?”“Well, I can’t go naming him without consulting his mom first, can I?”Anna rolled her eyes. “How about Cobalt?”“No.”“But I told you back when we were kids, that I wanted a dog named Cobalt.”“Absolutely not.”“Why not?”“Because I don’t want you naming our baby after your suitor.”Anna stared deadpan at him. “Seriously?”“Yes, seriously.”“Fine,” she caved in. “How about Axel?”“Axel?” Dalton nodded. “Okay, I like that.”“Hi Axel,” Anna cooed at the puppy.Dalton also patted the puppy on the head who turned around, swishing his head in every direction.Anna laughed at the sight of that. Axel was very cute and playful.Dalton laced his other arm on Anna. “Welcome back home,” he said as he gave her a little peck.*****It was already nighttime. Anna and Dalton had just finished dinner and she was getting ready for bed.She was just
They couldn’t all have went to the hospital to deliver Dalton, right? Things couldn’t have been that bad, right?Anna wiped her tears. This won’t do. She’ll have to call Delia herself. She ran out of the house, intending to grab her phone from the car.As she stepped out of the door, she noticed the gazebo in their garden. It was glamorously decorated. There were flowers, lights and fabrics adorning the place.Confused, Anna walked towards the gazebo where she saw a silhouette waiting for her.The fabrics swayed with the breeze, covering the person standing there. She walked closer, curiosity momentarily covering up her worries. The silhouette turned around, just as Anna entered the gazebo.Anna’s eyes widened as a soft gasp escaped her lips. Dalton smiled lovingly at her.“Why were you crying?” he asked.“I…” Anna stammered. “I thought something happened to you. Delia called and she seemed to be in a panic.”Dalton closed their distance. “I’m sorry,” he said. “But I wasn’t sure you’d
Anna and Elisa Hampton were discussing the Hampton’s case in Anna’s office.“Please inform your father that the hearing for this case is next Tuesday,” she told Elisa.Elisa nodded. “I will, thank you.”She then added after a pause, “About my dad and brother…”Anna nodded at her. “Don’t worry, I don’t hold their actions against them, for your sake. But,” she added. “It does get annoying sometimes.”Elisa sighed. “I understand what you mean. I already warned them to lay low unless they want you to cut them off completely.”Anna raised an eyebrow, understanding. So that’s why she hadn’t heard from the Hamptons for some time.“I guess that would explain why you’re here instead of your dad.”Elisa winked at her. “That reminds me. Remember that Intelligence Company you wanted to build ever since high school?”“Yeah?” Anna asked as she silently opened a folder sitting on top of her table and flipped through its contents.“How did it go?”“It’s built,” Anna plainly replied.Elisa stared at h
Anna sat in her father’s living room. The rest of the Guevarra family were there as well.Contrary to what Anna had expected earlier, there conversation had nothing to do with the result of the videos. She silently eyed her father who was busy talking business with Dalton and his grandfather. They would laugh from time to time during their conversation. There was absolutely no hints from her father about the videos which had been the reason why they were all there. She sighed. She guess it was probably because they found nothing in all of those videos.“I’m really excited about your upcoming fashion show, Nora,” Dianne lovingly said. “I’m inviting all of my friends to watch you, Anna,” she winked at her daughter-in-law who slightly blushed.“I bet Keríe and Jeave would be there as well,” Nora said. “They might even try to recruit you again once they see what they’ve been missing all this time.”“I don’t think they’re missing a lot though,” Anna responded. “Since they have Rachel with
“Why, I have just been talking to Mr. Lomer,” Mr. Burton continued. “He’s also quite grateful for both of your help.”A man from another table motioned for Mr. Burton, so he had to say his goodbye.“Well, I have to go now. My client is here,” he explained. “Have a nice lunch, Ms. Anna and Miss Rachel. It was nice seeing you both in here.”Once Mr.Burton was seated in his own table, Rachel turned to Anna. “What was that about?”“Remember the reopened cases?”“The ones you had been stressing about for weeks?”“Yes, that one.”“Well?”“They’re all taken care of now.”“All of them?”“Yes.”“Wow,” Rachel looked pleased. “Congrats, Anna! I knew you could do it!”“Well, that’s the thing,” Anna mumbled.“What?”“Those didn’t get solved solely because of my team.”“Well”“Dalton, I suspected, had a hand with things. And today, Mr. Burton practically confirmed it.”“Oh?”“I also saw Dalton yesterday with Mr. Seanne.”“You mean Mr. Burton’s rival?”“Yes.”Rachel inhaled. “I mean, this is in char
