CHAPTER SEVEN

TROY’S POV.

Since the day Blue joined my pack, I have felt a lot happier, but I can not shake off my concerns. Seeing as Blue does not know I am her mate. Sometimes, I am itching to tell her, but deep down, I know that is a terrible idea. Our first meeting was not exactly friendly, and I did keep her here against her will. But was that a bad idea? It was the only way I could think of to keep her close.

When I saw her hugging and being all affectionate with that human, Alex. It stirred up this feeling of jealousy in me. I have heard the rumors that they might be dating and it looks like it might be true. The thought of them together was making me angry. It took everything in my power not to get rid of him that day, but that would put me in a bad position and Blue would hate me forever and the last thing I needed after searching for my mate for a long time was to get rejected.

It was not just the hug, it was the way he looked at her like they shared a secret world I could never be a part of. I clenched my fists, my heart pounding, as I reminded myself that I had no right to feel this way. After all, Blue was Not yet mine.

Just as I was lost in these roller coaster thoughts, The door to my office opened and Xena stormed in, his brow furrowed and his jaw set.

"What is going on?" I asked, surprised by his presence.

"I have been meaning to talk to you," he stated,

I glanced up from my desk, my workload demanding my attention. "I am busy," I replied curtly, not yet ready to engage in the conversation I knew was coming.

He pressed on, unfazed. "We have to talk now. I have been trying to get your attention all day."

Sighing, I leaned back in my chair, signaling my willingness to listen.

“Fine. What is it?” I asked.

His stare was hard. “It's about the new girl, Blue.”

My eyebrows raised slightly, surprised that Xena was taking such an interest in her.

"What about her?" I asked.

Xena's tone was cautious, almost accusatory. "I do not trust her."

His words caught me off guard, and I felt a trace of defensiveness rise within me.

"Why is that?"

He leaned forward, his voice dropping lower. "I know she is your mate, Troy, but she is also a potential enemy. I do not appreciate you showing her around the pack. What if she gets her hands on information that could be used against us?"

I sighed. "She will not do that."

Xena's looks remained doubtful. "And how would you know? This woman ordered an attack against our pack. What is stopping her from doing it again?"

My frustration was starting to show, and my patience wearing thin.

"She would not. She is different,” I stated.

He shook his head. "You are blinded by the fact that she is your mate."

“Xena, do not question me. I am your Alpha."

“ And I am your Beta. I am your most trusted member. I have sworn to protect Redmoon and when I see something suspicious that can affect our pack I can not ignore it." Xena stated

I run my hand through my hair in frustration.

“ I just want to win her heart. She is my mate. You know how long I have waited for this."

“ I get that. But we need to be cautious. For all we know, she might be finding ways to bring us down."

I acknowledged his concerns with a slow nod.

"Alpha Troy, her eyes, the way they lit up when she saw those records... They were the eyes of someone with a hidden agenda."

I sighed. "I hear you, Xena. I will keep a close watch on her."

As Xena left my office, his presence fading, I found myself alone with my thoughts. I knew he was right to be cautious, but a part of me desperately wanted to believe that she would not do that once she got to know us and found out I genuinely did not wish her pack harm.

Gazing out the window, I catch sight of Blue standing outside, illuminated by the setting sun. The soft, golden shade casts an aureole around her, momentarily erasing my worries.

Pushing away from my desk, I made my way outside, my steps carrying me closer to her. She stood near the edge of the training grounds, lost in thought. The sight of her, the way the wind played with her hair, was enough to momentarily erase my worries.

"Hey," I said softly, my voice carrying more warmth than I intended.

Blue turned to me offering a small smile. "Hey, Troy."

"Training went well today?" I asked, trying to start a conversation with her.

Her nod was accompanied by a thoughtful expression. "Yeah, but I need a trainer."

"That can be arranged," I replied, already considering the best way to assist her. "I will assign one of my men to train you."

A hint of hesitance crossed her features, and she tilted her head slightly. "What about you?"

I blinked, taken aback by her suggestion. "Me?"

A soft blush colored her cheeks, and she glanced down for a moment before meeting my gaze again. "I mean, if you are not too busy. Maybe we could train together?"

My heart skipped a beat at her words. The idea of training alongside her, being close to her, sent a wave of warmth through me.

"I usually train alone, but I do not mind having a new partner," I admitted, my voice slightly higher than I intended.

A genuine smile lit up her face, a smile that seemed to reach her eyes.

"Thank you," she said softly.

I knew at that moment, I would give anything to see that smile every day.

"You are welcome," I replied, my tone softer than before.

Blue might be a threat to my pack, but whenever she is with me, I forget my Alpha duties and just want to protect and love her. I noticed she is curious, which should be worrying, but I find it cute. My only problem is I do not get why she hates my pack so much. If I knew, maybe I could make things right.
