Jenny is finally living the time of her life. She has always been a badass. Noah knew this before he got married to her. Her financial status was the only thing holding her back from achieving everything she finally wanted. He was the only one who brought her down to her knees. After catching him in a compromising situation with her best friend, she threatens him with a divorce and he finally agrees. She knows Noah wants her back. She swears she would never go back there. One phone call from him is all it takes him to bring her back crying to him. But what does he want from her? More torture? Or he doesn’t just know how to beg her to come back? It's up to her to decide what she wants to do with him.

Added to that, the bed was small. This wasn’t the kind of luxury I was accustomed to. But I was learning to deal with it. I assure you.
It’s just a temporary arrangement, and I feel incredibly fortunate that Lewis has allowed me to share his tiny apartment. What would I do without his support? Enduring the tight space is a minor inconvenience to experience the comfort of a dear friend.
Going through a divorce when your spouse is a billionaire is never straightforward. The process tends to drag on longer than it would for a typical couple. Just managing the process made my head spin. Balancing my new life as a single woman, keeping track of my small company’s finances, and trying to be a good friend to Lewis was enough to give anyone a headache.
Fortunately, Noah, my husband , finally signed the divorce papers. Even if everything happened too smoothly, I don’t mind. At least I will finally be liberated from his control. The mere thought of him sends a shiver down my spine. The prospect of freedom from him is all I needed to endure whatever I face now.
My previous lifestyle was nothing but a façade. The sparkle and extravagance concealed all the pain I carried within. I grew weary of the gossip, the insincere sympathy, the forced smiles, and the overall pretense. You can only maintain a lie for so long.
As I began to look at the ceiling, praying I can drift off to sleep again, my phone begins to ring on the bedside table. I reach out blindly, closing my eyes and swiping right without glancing at the caller ID. If I open my eyes, there’s a high likelihood I won’t be able to sleep again.
“Hello,” I mumbled, attempting to keep my voice low so that I wouldn’t wake Lewis.
“Mrs. Hernandez,” the soft voice on the other end says. It’s Mary Anne, the head maid from Noah’s place.
I almost corrected her immediately. I’m no longer Mrs. Hernandez.
“What do you need?” I replied, discarding any hint of politeness. We were quite close and respected each other, but I’m no longer part of the household, and courtesy doesn’t thrive on caffeine deprivation and a few hours of restless sleep.
“Mr. Hernandez would like to know where his black tie is.” I immediately furrow my brow.
“Bedroom closet, left drawer, second row, third on the right.” I sit up in bed.
Why can’t he just let me be? Why is he constantly trying to undermine everything I have? Look at him, attempting to exert control from afar. I shake my head and lie back down.
The phone buzzes again. I pick it up the second time, preparing myself for anything that was about to come..
“Mrs. Hernandez,” Mary Anne says in her trembling voice. Noah has undoubtedly made her cry again.
“Mr. Hernandez requests that you come and pack for him. He has a business trip to Paris in two hours.”
My patience frays instantly.
“We're divorced,” I snapped. “Tell him to pack for himself.” I refuse to be at his beck and call for the rest of my life. My finger hovers over the end call button.
“Get here in thirty minutes,” he commanded.
There he stands. Determination and a complete lack of courtesy. He will not change ever.
“I’m not your free maid anymore, jerk.” We’re no longer together, and there’s no chance ”
"You still need to pay me two million dollars," he snarled into the phone, interrupting me. His voice is deep. "I'm reviewing your IOU at this moment, so..."
Crap!
I immediately switched to my courteous tone. The person he was familiar with from six years of difficult, yielding marriage.
"I'll arrive immediately."
I would assist him with packing, sure, and I would throw his two million dollars at him. That was sufficient to deter him for a while.
Rest is not an option.
Swinging my legs off the bed, I slip my feet into my warm slippers and put on my robe.
I begin filling my bathtub. I move at my own pace. I understand how furious he would be if I were to be one minute late. However, he currently lacks any control over me. I’m no longer his wife. I continue to add the extra lavender oil that Noah really enjoys. I’ve already poured it before I realize what I’m doing. Will I ever recover?
After enjoying my long, relaxing bath, I slipped into the most alluring dress I own in my closet. Anything to reassure him that everything has been alright. Coffee seems ideal. It would help me recover after my encounter with Noah and allow me to collect myself before going to work from the Hernandez Estate.
As I arrive at the last step, Lewis raises his cup in acknowledgment.
“Good morning, Sunshine,” he replies, grinning and taking a sip of his oatmeal milkshake. His headphones are placed on the table. He likely just returned from his run.
He has been begging me for the past month to join him. I want to, but I don’t have that much time to spare.
My company is still a start-up and everything has to be in place. I shuffle to the counter and pour myself a cup of coffee, adding enough milk. I take a long satisfying sip, allowing the coffee to settle my nerves and warm my insides.
“Good morning,” I finally answered Lewis. “Another long run?” He nods.
His muscles appeared toned and he has been getting fit, but I would not tell him that. He would use it to judge me forever.
I’m about to ask him who he saw on his run this time, when my phone rings. I jump and Lewis stares at me weirdly.
It's Noah. He called with his own number this time.
Noah stepped out of the automobile, dressed in a crisp black healthy. His inexperienced eyes locked onto her, sharp and unyielding. He looked calm. Too calm. Jenny’s blood ran bloodless. Ethan breathed heavily, one arm clutching his side. “Let her move, Noah.” Noah’s lips curled into a smirk. “I do not think so.” He took sluggish, planned steps closer to Jenny. “You ran, Jenny,” he murmured, reaching out to touch her face. She flinched away, however he grabbed her chin, forcing her to fulfill his gaze. “That becomes a mistake.” Jenny’s pulse thundered in her ears. “I am no longer yours.” Noah’s eyes darkened. “You have been mine the moment you walked into my house again.” His grip tightened simply sufficient to make her wince. Ethan attempted to move, but the bald man shoved him to the ground, urging a foot in opposition to his return. Jenny’s heart clenched. “Stop!” Noah tilted his head. “Are you prepared to return home now?” She clenched her fists. “You do
Jenny’s body trembled as she crouched behind the broken pew. The sound of footsteps echoed through the church, slow and deliberate. She could feel Ethan’s grip tighten on her wrist, his breath warm against her ear.Whoever had entered was searching for them. Her heart pounded so hard she feared it would give them away. The steps moved closer.Ethan pressed his lips near her ear. “Stay quiet,” he whispered.Jenny barely nodded. The silence stretched, thick with tension. Then, just as suddenly as they had entered, the footsteps retreated. The heavy church doors creaked shut, leaving behind an eerie stillness.Ethan exhaled, his grip loosening. “We need to get out of here.”Jenny was still frozen in fear. “What if Noah sent them?”Ethan’s jaw tightened. “Then you are in even more danger than I thought.”He stood and pulled her to her feet. “We cannot stay here.”Jenny hesitated. “Where will we go?”Ethan’s gaze was firm. “Somewhere safe.” They moved through the dark streets, staying clo
Jenny paced her room, her thoughts spinning with mind. Noah had taken control of her lifestyle once more, and he or she had no manner out. Her phone changed into gone. Her organization was now not hers. Every door in this mansion led again to him.She pressed a hand to her belly, fear tightening in her chest. Her baby changed into growing inside her, but how long before Noah discovered it? If he did, he might by no means permit her to cross.A soft knock on the door made her bounce. She turned sharply, waiting for one of Noah’s guards. Instead, MaryAnne stepped inner, conserving a tray with a cup of tea.“You slightly ate dinner,” MaryAnne stated gently.Jenny sighed and sat on the threshold of the bed. “I am now not hungry.”MaryAnne placed the tray on the bedside desk and hesitated. “A letter arrived for you these days.”Jenny’s head snapped up. “A letter?”MaryAnne nodded and pulled a small envelope from her pocket. “It slipped under the gate again. The guards no longer see who left
Jenny sat by way of the massive window in her room, watching the locked gates of the mansion. The golden lights of the chandelier reflected off the polished marble ground, making the vicinity feel even greater like a palace. But no matter how beautiful it was, it turned into nonetheless a prison. She had back, however not with the aid of desire. Noah had compelled her to return to his global, using her fear in opposition to her.She wrapped her palms around herself, feeling the load of the entirety crushing her. Her eyes burned, but she refused to cry. Crying could not change anything. She needed to suppose. She wished a way out.The door creaked open, and she grew to become sharp, her heart pounding. Noah stepped interior, his presence filling the room. He looked at her the way he always did, like he owned her.“You had been sitting right here all night,” he stated, ultimate the door behind him. “I hope you are not taking into account going for walks away once more.”Jenny clenched h
The telephones won’t stop ringing. Every journalist within the metropolis appears to need a piece of the tale, and my reputation hangs by a thread.I’ve asked Mary Anne to disconnect the wires, however even that doesn’t give me peace. Noah sits across from me, rattling off the script I’m supposed to follow in the course of our press convention. His tone is detached, as though he couldn’t care much less approximately the chaos swirling around me."We’ll inform them you’re back to live," he says, flipping through his notes. "And we’re making plans for our perfect second wedding."I glare at him, but he’s already moved on, his consciousness somewhere else. When eventually seated in front of the journalist, Noah’s hands are clasped around mine. His grip is organization, a silent warning that I dare no longer step out of line."It feels so true seeing you back collectively," the journalist gushes. "Is there a reason why you separated within the first area?"Noah squeezes my hand, and I kno
Noah doesn’t come domestic till 2 A.M. In the direction, he did it on purpose."Oh, you waited," he says, his tone casual, almost amused."Is this part of your tiny punishment?" I shoot lower back, my voice sharp. "Try more difficult, Noah."His eyebrow arches and a faint smirk play on his lips. "The least you can do is be grateful. I saved you from jail, Jenny. Self-protection wouldn’t have worked. She didn’t even have a weapon."Then it hits me like a freight teacher."You employed them, didn’t you?" I accuse, my voice of growing. His smirk deepens, and I sense my stomach twist."Was the entire twist of fate scripted too? Is she even inside the medical institution, or is she sunbathing in Ibiza proper now?"He leans back, his demeanor relaxed, almost bored. "I thought you knew me better than that, Jenny. Why would I waste time and money just to make you cry? Luck was genuinely on my side."My fingers ball into fists at my sides, shaking with barely contained rage. He notices and fro
