Liam's POV

My fingers wrapped around the metallic frame in the corridor as I watched Charlotte climb the elevator and I could feel my heart hammering in my chest.

My gaze remained fixed on her until the elevator lowered her to the ground. My right hand, which held hers, remained still as if it was numb.

I've remained rooted to the ground floor and I can't hide my disappointment. I mean how did it happen?

My mind raced as the only thing I remembered was gulping a few bottles of whiskey, and someone walked in.
