Harley~

This was a goose chase; I knew it as soon as I got out of my car to take a look around -there was no trap house or anything else to be found here. I'd been so lost in my head with Nick, absent-mindedly following the GPS, that I hadn't paid attention to where I was going. However, I end up on the Southside of town, in the middle of nowhere.

My wolf is quick to point out my poor decisions. 'I told you it was a waste coming out here, and you see so is trying to run from Nick. Something doesn't feel right about this, Harley. We came, we saw, now let's go!

'In a minute, Rae, false reports and mis-sightings come in all the time, and I'm not discussing Nick with you.' I raised my arms out to my sides. 'Look at where we are.'

She is right, but so am I, and we might as well enjoy the scenery, as it is beautiful. The clear blue sky provides a perfect backdrop for the distant mountains, and the lush vegetation covers the valley floor with precision. This is why the Rolling Bridge com

Harley~ I've no idea how long I was out, but it must have been a while; I woke up alone in a damp and dark place. As I focus on my surroundings, I realize I'm inside an abandoned Fisherman's Wharf. My ass is going numb beneath me as I sit on cold, hard, bloodstained concrete. Above me, seagulls nest in decaying rafters; to my left, I can see the metal chains and hoists used to move the Blufin tuna and swordfish from the boats. To my right, I see the remnants of what I assume was Steve's companion, lying atop a steel fillet table, and she's been gutted. 'If you don't want to wind up like her, you need to find a way out of here, Harley.' Steve was kind enough to remove the probes and leads from my body; however, he replaced them with handcuffs, which had been modified with an extra-long chain and attached to one gantry hanging from the ceiling beam above my head. I raised my arms in the air. 'What do you suggest I do, Rae? She snarls in my chest. 'He's coming, Harley!' As t

Stalker Steve~ I nearly busted a nut when Lenny told me I could go back to work. However, the why and now have me concerned; I've learned not to trust his motives when he rushes my ass, but I also wanted to eat. "You've got to help me out, Lenny. I'm starving over here. Can't you bring me some cash?" "I needed to leave town for a few days. The police have called in the FBI, and I can't protect you if I get caught myself." That was a great, gigantic pile of steaming horseshit he just dumped on me, and he was way behind on the FBI game; I spotted the Jolly Green Giant with Detective Gibson when I took a chance to withdraw my paycheck from the bank. It seems the Detective has been one step ahead of me at every turn, as I also tried the bank in Cluver, but it was on lockdown, too. "I know this already, but it ain't feeding me, Lenny!" In more ways than one. "I will call you back in an hour with a drop-off site. You'd better have the Detective." He ends the call. Vicky is wait

Nick~ The rejection ripped through me like a tornado through a trailer park. My head is spinning, my heart is pounding as I brace myself against the all-white wall, knocking the picture of some former mayor off its bracket. The last thing I expected was for Harley to demand that we sever our connection or that she could dismiss me so easily. She had walked away from me without batting an eye, while I'm over here gasping for air. Nor did Harley have to confirm for me she'd been to the lake; I could smell it on her. The idea of not having Harley by my side, or only seeing my child every other weekend, does something unkind to my soul. 'They are leaving the station, Nick, get a hold of yourself, get your ass out there and stop her!' A cursing spree to make a sailor blush came from my mouth as I put Mr. Mayor back in his place, pushed off the wall, tore the door open hard enough to shuffle the metal blinds, exited the room, and took double strides down the hallway. My boots scuff

Harley~ I'm not sure how long I had lain there before the current swirled around me, lifting my body off the bottom, through its layers, toward the surface, and the most beautiful full moon beams I'd ever seen. Just before I get a good look at it, that's it; I wake up in my bed, bone dry, roll over, and look at the clock; it is three a.m. Nick gets in a 'Where ar......?' before I shut him out. Doesn't that bitch ever sleep?! With a groan, I haul myself out of bed and to the toilet to pee. After sitting down, my hands are on autopilot, and they go to my stomach. I'm carrying the Wolfman's baby, and it doesn't matter what he turned out to be; this baby was conceived in love. "It's gonna be ok, Moonbeam." 'Harley, will you at least hear what Nick has to say?' 'No, there's nothing I want to hear from him.' 'Lauren told you they displayed him in an unpleasant light, and you have a lot to say to him, like you ARE the father.' My eyes rolled at her Maury impression. 'I've not

Harley~ I'm like a wide-eyed kid at Christmas as I try to take in all the surrounding sights; never could I have imagined a place such as this existed. Everything is different here; the sky is a little bluer, the grass a deeper shade of green, even the birds' songs sound happier. Sauther Lake is also massive, stretching out before me as far as I can see. Until it meets the surrounding mountains that border it, in them, I see lights from many homes built on their cliffs and along its base. Images of summers filled with picnics and swimming flashed in my mind, and I couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like if my mother had raised me here. The resentment that floods me, not having had the chance to inherit my birthright, seems to come from the lake more than from me, but it begs the question of why my mother left here and how she wound up with Ian. When we arrived at the edge of the water, Lauren waved her hand, and I caught another glimpse of magical life on the l
