Caterina
“We have never seen this before, and I have had a bad feeling ever since one of our old prophecies came to be: ‘When the moment comes that prey kills predator, the foreign one shall bring forth a union of fated hybrid mates and an age of anarchy.’ This was the death of our Viktor. The rest I was uncertain of until I laid my eyes on your mate and received another prophecy.” She says, then looks at me.
I felt a chill in her stare, not coldness or hatred at all, but I had a feeling she knew what would come next.
“I don’t understand your prophecy,” Kai says, shaking his head. “Who is the foreign one?”
Kaede laughs quietly. “I am surprised that that is what you ask and not who the fated hybrid mates are or what the other prophecy was. You know already, don’t you, Kai?” She says, then walks up to me and places a hand on my forehead.
“She has already received gifts, and a shard of Tiarin’s soul is implanted in hers. You know
Caterina As I open my eyes, I am assaulted by a splitting headache and immediately let out a groan. The images are blurred but soon come into focus, and I realize that I am back at the penthouse. Did I fall asleep in the car? The last thing I remember is walking towards the car with Kai's hand in mine. I must have been entirely out of it and drained to have passed out like that. I grab my phone from the nightstand to look at the time: 6 am! I slept the entire evening away! As if to tell me I messed up, my stomach growls in protest, so I get up from the bed only to notice that I was in PJ's. Wait, did Kai change me as well? Smiling, I slip on my fluffy slippers and head downstairs. When I reach the bottom of the stairs, I don't see or hear anything; was anyone home? Shuffling down the hallway, I make my way to Kai's study and raise my hand to knock, but before I could, Kai spoke. "Come in, Caterina." My eyes widen at hi
Kai After watching how relaxed and calm she was during today's outing, I didn’t want to ruin her peace of mind. I couldn’t bring myself to tell her the truth behind her role in my life; why she was chosen to be my mate and why an enemy pack kidnapped and hid her. She won’t be able to handle all of it in the state that she is in now, so I will tell her everything after I’ve claimed her. When we got back from our trip, she went straight to get in a hot bath then jumped into bed. I think I tired her out today, but that was my aim. She needed to sleep without worry for once… and I needed to get to Konstantin. My brother had some news for me about Caterina’s family, and from what I could tell, it was not good news. So I have Dimitri come over and keep an eye on her while we go to investigate. I must admit that what Caterina said she saw when she touched Dimitri still bothered me. Not only was my younger brother pro saving the world
Caterina “Wait, so you’re going to teach me the ways of the Bratva? Why?” I ask Kai as I look over at him from the passenger side of the SUV. When we got home from spending the entire Sunday together in the forest, I passed out as soon as I got home. But when Kai woke me up this morning, he let me know that we had a full day planned today. I wasn’t sure what he meant by it, though, and now he’s telling me that I would be learning the ways of the Russian mafia?? Kai smiles and nods. “I figured since you’re going to rule at my side, you might as well know what this side of our dynasty entails as well. You’re no timid pup, Caterina; I am certain that you can handle it.” He says, facing forward as we drive to Dimitri’s club, Dreamcatcher. “Oh, okay. But why are we heading to Dimitri’s club first?” I ask. Apparently, Dimitri was my babysitter last night as I slept. Kai sighs. “Because after you told me what you saw with reg
Kai Something felt wrong as soon as I dropped Caterina off this morning, but I would never have thought this would be the outcome. “What the fuck do you mean?” I ask Dimitri while tightening the grip around his throat, but he only chuckles. “She wanted to help, so I sent her on a mission. I thought you wanted me to teach her our ways,” he chokes, gripping my hand. I growl as I throw him to the side, the anger burning hot in my veins, and I pinch the bridge of my nose. “So you send her into the clutches of a fucking VAMPIRE?!” I say through gritted teeth and pulling out my cell phone. This can’t be happening, not now when I had a million other things to worry about! The DA’s office is basically a vampire’ den, and he let her walk straight into it with no backup or protection. Dimitri walks over to me and dares to put a hand on my shoulder. “Have some fucking faith in your mate, brother,” he says. I aim a death s
Caterina I watch as Dimitri pales, then his eyes dart from Kai to me and back to Kai again. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he says, pouring himself a third glass of alcohol and not looking at us. Kai looks like he’s at a loss for words to say, so I step forward. “Dimitri, I saw what happened. The thief was on his knees begging for his life, but you stood over him and ripped out-” “Bullshit! How… How could you possibly….” Dimitri turns around with wide eyes and throws his glass to the ground. “No one was there, it was… it was an accident! I didn’t mean to kill him!” “I know,” I say, walking towards him and placing my hands on his shoulders. “I also saw how heartbroken you were when you realised what you had done.” Dimitri peers at me with a look of confusion on his face. “How do you know all this?” He asks, and I give him a small smile. “It’s going to sound weird, but I saw it when I touched y
Kai Did I just hear what I thought I did? I looked at Caterina, swollen lips and desire ebbing away, and I knew that I heard right. My beast just told both of us to dial back on our lust. Buckling my belt again, I walk towards the bed and sit down next to her. She looks at me with an apologetic smile and sighs. “I think we just got reprimanded,” she says with wide eyes, and I burst out laughing. “Yes, it does seem that way, doesn’t it?” I say, then pull her closer to me before wrapping my arms around her. “I’m sorry about that, Caterina. I lost control,” I say, breathing out a sigh, but she shakes her head. “I could have stopped you, but I didn’t. So I need to apologise as well.” She says. I don’t know why I lost control like that; we nearly went all the way with the eclipse in three days’ time. This act would have ruined our ritual and not strengthened our bond at all. Fuck, how could I be so damn stu
Caterina Kai fell asleep almost immediately after coming to bed, but I am still wide awake. There was no way I would sleep after seeing what I did. The image of Kai’s lifeless eyes staring up at me is fresh in my mind. For now, I’m content with watching him sleep; he looks so peaceful. The permanent scowl on his face was eased out and replaced with a sleepy frown. His mouth was slightly open, and every now and then, it looked like he was chewing something in his dream. In short, the big bad Alpha was gone and replaced with this adorable man. I reach up and touch his face, spying on his wolf as he slept but noticing that although he might seem peaceful as he slept, inside, he was an anxious mess. His wolf paced up and down, then stopped before pacing again. Was Kai worried about something? Would he tell me what was on his mind? I sigh, then lean forward and place a kiss on his forehead. Our mate bond would be solidified
Kai No one knew where Vanya went, and she cut off her ties to us soon after Ilya died. It is as if she disappeared into thin air. Fucking witches, I don't particularly like them and the way they tamper with things. Especially the dark witches in Norway; those women could send you to Hell and make you wish for more. A chill goes up my spine as I remember visiting Norway with my parents searching for a way to calm my Lycan beast. All their rituals required human sacrifices, so my mother opted for the ritual she underwent with our own witches. Sometimes I wished she would have gone with the sacrifices; it would mean she would still be alive now to guide me. If the meeting with my pack was difficult, staring into Kaede's furious expression is even worse. "She tricked us all! How?! How did we allow this to happen?!" She exclaims, pacing the room in anger. Her sisters mirrored her sentiment, and so did I; how did Alyosha trick an entire pack with a coven of powerful witches? I sigh, wa
