Tristan's POV I slowly wake to something tickling my face. My face scrunches as I move away from the tickling, but it follows me. I feel lips against my nose as the tickly sensation continues, trailing the side of my face.I open my eyes, and my heart flutters when I see Walker’s face hovering in front of mine. A soft, tender smile rests on his lips as his brown eyes sweep adoringly over my face. He is kneeling next to the bed, his fingertips lightly tracing the curve of my jawline. “Hi, sleepy head,” Walker says softly, causing me to blush and my heart to flutter. He narrows his eyes as he looks into mine, and concern spreads across his face. “Were you crying?” he asks, gently touching the skin beside my eyes. For a brief moment, I'm confused. But then a wave of memories of the ice cream parlor and Chase's toxic words rushes back to me. The knot in my stomach tightens instantly, reminding me why I’m asleep in his bed in the first place. When I first drove home, my mind was spinni
Tristan's POV I drum my fingers restlessly against the wooden kitchen counter, trying to think of something to do. I feel antsy, I want to get out and do something, but I have nothing to do.Two weeks have passed since the night Walker turned me. My body is healed now, and the memory of that excruciating shift is no longer close to the surface. The pain feels like a distant memory. There is no work for the next two weeks. The section of the subdivision we were working on is complete, and now the other crew is breaking ground on the south end. Normally, we would have been able to move right into the new section, but that crew is running behind. This is the vacation time everyone has been looking forward to, so everyone is gone. Jason is three hours away visiting a friend who moved away. Ryan and Alex took Jamie to Six Flags, and the love of my life is in a meeting until noon. It wouldn't be so bad if he were coming home after that, but he has to go to the job site for a “hands-on meeti
Tristan's POV It’s so strange to know that I'm no longer human. It is even stranger to have a presence in my head every moment I'm awake. I wonder if this is what crazy people who talk to themselves feel like. Perhaps they are not crazy after all and just have a wolf in their head…Walker told me I would be able to feel Kai’s emotions, but I'm having a hard time doing that. All I feel is what I feel. Or maybe that's because Kai feels the same, so there's no difference in our feelings. I don't know. I'm not sure how this works, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued. Walker's thumb caresses my hand as he leads me down the stairs. The way he's so attentive and loving has my heart swelling. ‘He loves us,’ Kai says softly in my mind. I smile and look up at Walker. “How do I talk to my wolf without saying the words out loud?” Before Walker can reply, someone walks past us, and my head instantly whips around to track him. My eyebrows knit together as my nose flares… “I can sm
Tristan's POV My face twitches at a light, feathery touch tickling my skin. My nose wrinkles, and my eyebrows knit together when the sensation turns slightly rougher, brushing across my cheek. I open my mouth, ready to complain about being woken up, but then the fog of sleep clears. All I can smell is Walker, and I can feel those magical little tingles everywhere our skin touches. His lips pressed against my face next to my eyes, and his beard tickled my cheek. My heart swells tightly in my chest, realizing he is waking me by peppering kisses on my face. His hands roam lazily over my body, touching, feeling, and caressing me. My stomach flutters with the realization that he loves me so much that he cannot get enough of me. I never thought it was possible for someone to love me like this. My eyes flutter open to find Walker's face directly in front of mine. I hear his heart skip when our eyes meet. It surprises me that I can hear the beat of his heart without pressing my ea
Tristan's POV My body feels like it has been run over by a bus. Every muscle aches, and I am exhausted. Strangely, the memory of the excruciating shift is not close to the surface. The memory of the painful event feels like it is fading the longer I stay awake.I feel the same, but somehow different. He smells the same, but so much stronger. His scent is intoxicating, and I can't get enough of it. His touch feels so good, it's so tender, loving, and everything I need. Those magical little tingles never stop like they used to. They are there every time our skin touches and only go away with space between us.His hands haven't stopped moving, not even for a second. They are constantly tracing, touching, and caressing my body. I love the way his palms grasp me every so often. It is as if he needs to feel his hands pressed firmly against me, proving to himself that I am really still here. Or perhaps he simply feels I am not close enough, and a light touch isn't enough. It makes me feel wa
Walker's POV I step into the warm spray of the shower with Tristan cradled securely in my arms. I gently rinse the drying blood from his skin before stepping into the bathtub. Pulling him with me into the deep water, I sit and carefully settle him between my legs. His back rests against my chest, his head against my shoulder.I lather a soft washcloth. I am hyper-aware of how fragile he still is, so I work with care. I press a tender kiss to his shoulder before running the soapy cloth over his chest. My hand dips into the water and glides the washcloth down his ribs and over his stomach. I'm careful not to shift his upper body too much as I lift each of his legs, washing away the last remnants of the bloody ordeal. I slide him slightly to the right side of my chest so I can reach his left leg. His head lolls back against my shoulder, his chin tilting up. His nose brushes against the sensitive skin of my neck. With every slow exhale, his warm breath fans across my neck. I close my eye
