LOGINMy babies, finally a talk. Next chapter will be the end of this arc to the next arc 😉
Chapter 49 - Untitled Everything was hazy. Orion didn't remember how he'd gotten home, only that he was in serious pain, the stab wound scorching hot no matter what Roland tried; none of it working. He gritted his teeth through the agony, his vision unfocused. "Dawn," the word slurred out.He could hear sound around him, voices, and movement, but everything was ringing. His heart palpitated against his ribs, his throat scratchy and dry, and when he tried to breathe her in, his nose failed to pick up her scent anywhere near him. Fuck. He couldn't believe a stab wound could reduce him to such a state. He gritted his teeth harder, his jaw cracking a little. "Where is Aurora!" he thought he growled out, but the words were incoherent.Roland, watching the Clan Leader struggle and wanted to cry. This wasn't the man she knew. When they'd carried him home, she'd expected to walk in and find Aurora there waiting, panicked. Instead, the house was empty. Her stomach sank as she shook her head.
Nightmare II"Go to hell," the man spat at him, and Orion's hands were closing around his throat on instinct, uncaring of the commotion erupting around them, choking the life out of him as he felt his strength draining fast, faster than it should have from a stab wound. Liam and Rook came sprinting toward him from opposite sides of the ring. His tongue felt heavy in his mouth, his eyes growing hazy and unfocused. The wound wasn't healing the way it should have. Wasn't healing at all. Meanwhile, back at the house, Roland had been quietly watching Aurora, who looked a little guilty still but noticeably different from how she'd been a week ago. Livelier. More like herself again, with color back in her cheeks. Roland felt relief at that, grateful not to watch her friend crumble into that broken, hollowed-out shell anymore, when she felt a pull in her mind. She opened the mind-link and was met instantly with Liam's voice, frantic and breathless. "Come now, my brother, the Leader's been s
Chapter 48 - Nightmare Third POV for better reading :]Orion turned to look at the aurora again, his eyes scanning slowly over her face, worry and concern carved deep in his brows with his lips in a thin line. "I don't want to leave," he said softly, and Aurora just grinned up at him, rising onto the tips of her toes as he bent his head low enough for her to press a kiss to his cheek. He always liked her small kisses; they made his heart flip every goddamn time. She chuckled playfully, resting a hand briefly against his chest and his body jolted at the little contact. "You're not a baby. It's two hours max, you'll be back before you know it, and I'll be right here waiting for you, Orion." She giggled at the look on his face, the sound like music to his ears, so pleasant. "With my arms open to welcome you home."That seemed to do it for him, softening the clenching in his jaw just slightly, though he still shook his head like he wasn't convinced to leave her alone. Orion had been rel
Chapter 47 - Heart to HeartAurora's POVI knew I was probably just worrying for the sake of worrying at this point. It had been a week since my breakdown, since Orion had used his pheromone to calm me in the bathtub, coaxing me until sleep took me. For the first time in what felt like forever, I'd slept peacefully, no shadow of Knox lingering in my dreams. I woke up feeling refreshed, and when I opened my eyes, I found Orion with his head nestled against the front of my stomach like he was syncing himself with our Mlue.My heart pulled at the sight of him like that, as warmth spread through my chest as I reached down and ruffled his hair softly. His eyes blinked open almost immediately, and he lifted his head to look up at me, his amber eyes soft and warm in the morning light while I smiled at him.He pressed a slow kiss against my stomach, nuzzling his nose into my skin. "How are you, Dawn?" he asked softly, his voice vibrating through my body from where his mouth rested against me.
Chapter 46 - Unknown Unknown POVI've been watching from the shadows, lurking in the dark, moving every piece until it finally fell into place. I'm the master of the darkness, and darkness always rewards patience.I walked through the dark hallway of the former council building, after making sure the guard on duty was fast asleep. The place stank of dried blood and rot, the stench thick enough to cling to the back of my throat. The dead elders hadn't even been given a proper burial. They'd simply been left to decay in the room they'd been locked inside, sealed away with the mess they made. A fitting kind of payback, I supposed, for what they'd done to that poor girl.I pulled the keys off the sleeping guard's belt and made my way to the iron gate at the end of the corridor. The keys clanked loud against the metal, and the sound pulled the woman huddled in the corner up out of the shadows. Her eyes lit the second she saw me, a smile pulling weakly at her cracked lips. She sniffed. "I k
Chapter 45 - HelplessnessAurora's POVEvery creak, every sound, and every shuffle in the house made my head twirl behind me, checking if someone was catching up to me in my home. Everything was taking its toll on me, and I couldn't help it, couldn't stop it; not even my own brain and mind were on my side anymore. I was drowning, deeper every day, and I knew it. Nightmare after nightmare chased me in sleep until sleep became something terrifying, until I found myself crouched in corners, trying to get away from the unknown. When the nightmares stopped working on me in my sleep, they started catching me wide awake instead. Knox was catching up to me even with my eyes open now. There was a day Roland came to check on me, and I was so lost in the past that I didn't even notice her walking into the room. I was awake, technically, physically standing there, but my mind had dragged me somewhere else, back to when I'd been grabbed from behind.I flinched away in alert, and I turned to find he
Chapter 5 - Don’t LeaveAurora“Coming!”A distant voice filtered in and I immediately placed it — Roland, the name I had been able to attach to the female voice that had woven in and out of my consciousness. The door opened and she walked in while I stared at her from under my lashes because I cou
Aurora’s POV“Why is she not waking up?”I heard an agitated voice woven into a distant wave in the loop of darkness that surrounded me. The sound was pleasant to me and made the wave calm down in a serene way. I wanted to move my body toward it but it wouldn’t budge.“I’m sorry, Alpha, she has los
Orion’s POVI had been feeling agitated since I woke up, my mood dampened and hazy as irritation crawled at the back of my mind, but this was different from the usual restlessness while my animalistic side was pacing in the background. I resisted the urge to groan, feeling a headache creeping in fr
Aurora’s POVI can’t stay here.I can’t! I can’t.I chanted in my head repeatedly. My brain moved before my body as pain erupted everywhere, and I groaned into the floor, pressing my hand flat against the cold tile and trying to breathe through it. My ribs were throbbing, my head was pounding, and
