Melissa's POV

Alpha Magus acted strangely as he talked, not like the normal

His son didn't utter any word, although I wasn't looking at him, and I didn't even know what he was up to at that moment, but I knew he was silent.

“Caius”

I muttered silently as my head was buried to the ground, I bit my lower lips.

“Caius, that's his name”

I muttered silently again as I lifted my head slowly from the ground

This was the first time I was hearing his name, we never introduced ourselves that night. We obviously met that night for fun per say and there was no way we thought we were going to see each other again.

“She is Princess Melissa Thornhart, the daughter of Alpha Lawrence the leader of the Eclipse Pack of the North” Alpha Magnus voice roared out loud like a lion.

At this point, he was standing close to the door, But as soon as he was done talking, he walked closer to where I sat and stood just beside his son Caius.

“Princess Melissa?”

Caius asked in disbelief as his voice rose to a scream.

He stared at his father with his eyes opened widely before staring back at me who sat just opposite him. It was clear that he must be shocked of my identity.

He probably couldn't believe his eyes that a princess of the Eclipse Pack of The North would stoop so low to have a one-night stand just that easily. He definitely would have heard how high and mighty my father was and how he had spoiled me with things.

My eyes met with that of Caius and for a moment, my heart pounded faster not like the usual, it was actually something different, I could feel it, it was nothing like the ordinary, I tried to figure out exactly just happened but I couldn't.

"Yes, he felt it too, I sensed it," I thought as my eyes widened, immediately he looked away just like his heart melted away.

I just noticed, he still didn't say a word. His father still standing beside me

“He is still shocked” I thought to myself

But suddenly, he turned to me slowly, squatting just very close to me just then his next word sent cold chills to my spine

“Kill her now !!”

Kill who? What exactly did I just hear? I thought to myself.

Yes !! Caius had every right to be irritated, but I was never expecting him to spill this out.

“What do you mean Caius?” His father voice rose up but this time in a mild tone

This was the first time Alpha Magnus had spoken mildly ever since I found myself here, he wasn't harsh, nor sarcastic in his choice of words.

I could read from his father's lip, that he also wasn't expecting to hear that from him, not now, not even at this moment.

He had probably thought that Caius was going to make mockery of me and then maybe encouraged him to have me to himself through the night.

“Yes father. Why hesitating? You should have her killed this minute” Caius voice sprang up like the blaring of a phone in an empty room.

His father didn't utter a word, he just stared at him, probably waiting for the next word from him.

Just as expected Caius knew the assignment as he turned again, this time, he looked directly at me, his eyes piercing my soul like a sharp sword.

“I can't stand seeing her alive, her father killed mother, and I wouldn't just let that pass, she is unfortunate to be here today, and just like you have always said an eye for an eye, father, a tooth for a tooth. Isn't that right father?” Caius continued, his eyes still boring into mine.

To be honest. It sounded like a joke when he had made the statement for the first time earlier, but a second time meant that he was playing no games.

His father had obviously told him that I was the daughter of his enemy —The one who had slain his mother, and honestly I knew my father would do the same if he was in their shoes.

My heart ached as I tried to speak, my lips trembled as words failed to proceed from my mouth. It seemed like the words were too heavy. I tried to force the words from me as tears streamed down my cheeks again. I had thought that this part was over, it felt like going back to the beginning to solve a puzzle already halfway done.

“Please, don't kill me, I beg you, I beg you” I said as I began to cry profusely.

Honestly. At this point I just didn't know what else to do, I had begun to regret why I had run away from my father, maybe getting married to Ronan wouldn't be as bad as being killed in a strange place.

I just couldn't get killed. Jace and Brandon would never forgive themselves if they heard that I didn't get to the penthouse safely and was killed by my father's greatest enemy — Alpha Magnus Vortan

“You shouldn't beg me, I have no reason to forgive you. Your father ruined everything that I had, and you know he took the best thing of my life away from me, do you know how it feels to live without a mother. Do you !! ?” He roared as his voice echoed through the hallway.

“I know. I obviously don't know how it feels, I'm spoilt, I've been with my mom and dad since I was born, but I'm sorry if my father hurt you and took something precious from you” I replied as tears rolled down to my cheeks.

“Yes, this is the reason, that's the point. They should also know what it feels like to live without a daughter as well, I'm going to take their precious girl away from them” Caius roared again as he reached out for a metal bar close to him.

Melissa's POV I took another step forward, I looked into Ryker's eyes ensuring he could see me. I pondered why the others in the pack referred to him as "The monster." One of my workers cautioned me, "You should be careful, ma'am." He said staring on how brave I was.I nodded and smiled briefly, reassuring them, "I know. He has restraints on, so there's little he can do." Ryker's eyes and hands moved, but he remained silent.I had been reviewing Ryker's records and working on his case for days, and I had started to uncover some inconsistencies that made me question his diagnosis. It might not be what people think he is, or even what the king has in mind."You all should be ready; we have a task ahead of us. His treatment starts now," I instructed the workers. "Take a blood sample immediately," I told one of the worker, who stood close to me I then turned to the other man and tasked with documenting every detail since Ryker woke up. I wanted to get every needful information. To

Melissa's POV.What exactly was the Physician talking about? Suicide? Even an uncertified healer wouldn't make a mistake of calling that suicide. She was murdered, I saw that with my own eyes.My eyes narrowed to the Alpha. I couldn't say a word, There was no way I was going to interfere in this except I was ready to be killed. My eyes darted back as I stared at The head of Physician again. I didn't understand why he had said this and what on earth he was trying to hide. But I had promised that I was going to get to the root of it all and find out what happened that night.****I sat on one of the chairs in my office as I stared at view from where I was sitting. No one would believe that it had been two weeks now, and I think I had started to adjust to my new job as a healer. It was better off than serving Caius his lunch.I had learnt a lot and I had begun to find peace with myself, it seemed like for a reason fate had brought me here to the Blackthorns Pack.I hadn't really heard fr

  • Bred by the Vortan Alphas    Chapter 30: Suicide

Melissa's POV The physician and I approached Ryker's bedside, I couldn't help but notice the stark contrast between his current state and the surroundings. Ryker lay motionless, his pale skin a testament to his prolonged illness. Despite his fragile appearance, there was something about him that seemed... innocent. His features suggested a gentle soul, one that wouldn't harm a fly.As I drew closer, I noticed the subtle signs of wealth and privilege that lingered around him. His clothing, though simple, was of high quality, and the bed he lay on was adorned with intricate carvings. It was clear that Ryker came from a wealthy family. But who exactly were his family? And where were they when Ryker needed them the most? Don't they come to see him?My gaze fell upon the physician, and I asked that had been burning on my mind. But the more I stared at him, I could notice that Ryker wasn't unconscious just naturally, something though has made him lie motionless. "Why is he being sedated

  • Bred by the Vortan Alphas    Chapter 29: Father's Search For Melissa

Jace's POV “Brandon” I repeatedInside the box was the branded key to the Penthouse, the same key I had handed over to Melissa that night."How did you get this?" I asked Brandon, my fingers rolling with unease. "This was meant to be with Melissa." Brandon's expression was somber as he replied, “I found it by the road the next day” I felt a pang of confusion and concern. "Why didn't you tell me all this while, Why did you keep it away from me?" I asked, my voice laced with a mix of anger and disappointment."I knew it would hurt and break you down if I told you," Brandon said, his eyes filled with pain. "That's why I've been in pain, something isn't right." I felt like I'd been punched in the gut, my feet trembling beneath me. Melissa was supposed to use the key to access the Penthouse, but if she dropped it, that meant she never made it there. A wave of realization washed over me, and I felt my mind racing with questions now. Then where exactly was Melissa?Brandon's voice brok

  • Bred by the Vortan Alphas    Chapter 28: The Unspoken link

Melissa's POVI sprang up from bed with a start, my heart racing like the blaring of an alarm. But it wasn't the alarm that woke me – it was another nightmare, a haunting replay of the events from the previous night. The images lingered in my mind: her eyes, her pale face, the blood stains on her dress, the blood on her abdomen, her weak body. I wiped the sweat from my forehead, panting slightly as I tried to shake off the vivid memories. My chest heaving as I struggled to catch my breath As I sat up, I realized I had woken up an hour earlier than expected. Today marked the beginning of my new role as a healer at the Blackthorn Pact Medical, a fresh chapter in my life. While a part of me was thrilled at the prospect, I couldn't shake off the feeling that the Blackthorn Pact was a place of darkness, cruelty, brutality and hostility. The memories of the maid's fate still lingered, and I knew I had to focus on my new role if I wanted to stay alive.I made my way to the bathroom, sinkin

  • Bred by the Vortan Alphas    Chapter 27: Brandon's Revelation On Melissa

Jace's POVAs I stepped into the new Pack training Academy, I was immediately struck by the sheer scale of the facility. The rugged terrain stretches out before me, a vast expanse of challenging landscapes and obstacles designed to test the packs limits. The building was a blend of modern and traditional with sleek lines and a sturdy construction that speaks to the pack's values of strength and resilience.I noticed the symbols etched into the walls, intricate patterns and markings that reflect the pack's heritage and traditions.
