Melissa's POV

Caius went on his kneels immediately as he begged. My eyes widened in shock. I honestly couldn't believe this.

“Please I'm different from father. I do not want to be associated with a man who could stab the son of his back. It was decided by him. Furthermore, I didn't know that he was still brutal and cruel. He didn't even tell me about Lyra. I do not know who she is. I swear with my mother's grave” he said swearing to my face, this was the most dreadful thing to do.

Likewise, I staggered backwards in confusion.

What was really going on? Caius wouldn't swear on his mother's grave jokingly, not for anything.

He respected and cherished her so much.

“What do you mean?” I asked as I stammered

“Father pulled the whole engagement with Princess Lyra without my permission. He didn't even get me informed” He answered.

Damn. Was I dreaming or being fooled again? This was exactly how Ronan fooled me. Was history about to repeat itself. Was I meant to believe this all of this?

Melissa's POV My eyes sprang open, and a flash of amber flashed through my vision. A surge of adrenaline ran through my veins as I struggled to control myself from transforming. I thought of Jace and Brandon, and I turned my face away, blinking my eyes to calm down. My wolf growled, and I stared at the ceiling, trying to compose myself. It had been three days since Caius's engagement, and something felt off. I had been having nightmares, and the memories of the dead girl and the note written in codes haunted me. I saw her die in front of me again, and the images seemed real until I woke up. Just this morning, I had a nightmare about that afternoon at the Alpha's Penthouse. The truth was that there was something more to it. The Grand Prince and Alpha might be wrong about what happened that day. Although my memories of the afternoon stopped just as I opened the door, I was convinced that I saw something. Something might have tampered with my memories that night.I held my chest, realiz

Thane's POV This was exactly what happened that day. I pulled out a chair and had a seat at the banquet hall. It was a nice time to be here again. And I was sincerely happy for Caius.“Get him a bottle of red wine and his food quickly, Do not keep my guest waiting” Caius ordered one of his bodyguards.“I'll be in the restroom. I'll be back soon” Caius said.“It's fine, but do not keep me waiting” I said, smiling broadly.Caius smiled back at me as he left for the restroom. After a few minutes, Caius's bodyguards arrived with a tray of food in his hands, the red wine stood perfectly on the tray of food as he served me carefully. He placed the red wine on the table as he opened it slightly. He then placed a clean glass cup close to it as he poured the wine into the glass of wine Definitely, Everyone knew I was of a royal blood.“Thank you so much” I said ordering him to leave.I picked up a fork and a knife from the tray and started to eat. It was indeed a nice meal. I had a bite as I

Caius's POV I turned to Melissa as she spoke.“Its high time you give in Prince Caius. A lot have been done. I don't think it's that easy to amend. Although it might be, but it's so much impossible don't you think?” She replied in a low tone.“No matter how impossible it might seem, I ain't giving up on this. I would make sure I get to the bottom of this” I said “Please. You shouldn't do anything to hurt Lyra. I'll be with your father at the Alpha's stable. You should join immediately. I guess, they were waiting for you earlier” she said, and walked away.I stood in the private hallway for a few minutes, wondering what step I needed to take next. Whatever scheme Alpha Redwyn, Lyra and my father played was a deadly one. I hastened my footsteps as I walked back to the Grand hall to meet father and Lyra at the banquet. Just like I said, I wasn't backing down and things needed to be clear to Lyra. She really had no place here in the Blackthorn Park and not even a place in my heart. I

Caius's POV I bowed my head as I stood in front of father and the other Alphas, I sighted Alpha Redwyn as well and greeted him properly. Like a son-in-law would do. I forced a smile as I greeted.I had just started. Furthermore, I would uncover the truth just as I promised Melissa and get back to her.“So thoughtful of you Grand Prince Caius. Your father had told us that you went to see off some of the Alphas that were present here. You make a good son-in-law I must say” Alpha Redwyn said.I clenched my fist, irritated at the sound of the word 'Son in law'. What the hell was all this about? Nuisance. I must say. I thought.Likewise, I returned my gaze to father, thinking of the game he was playing.“Yes. I did” I answered trying to cover up.“We can't wait for The Grand Prince and Princess Lyra to get married and start having babies” My father said, as he turned to Alpha Redwyn.A smile pushed their lips.“That's my greatest desire” Alpha Redwyn said I scoffed silently.Babies !!? T

Caius's POV I stormed into my room with annoyance and then walked slowly to the mirror to stare at the pathetic man that I had become.I knew I was meant to be with father at the Alpha's stable to continue the engagement processes, with her parents .but I couldn't do this. Furthermore, I had no affection for Princess Lyra.Tears streamed down my eyes as I took a look at myself at the mirror. I stared at my injured arms. I could remember her touch, and the way she wrapped my hands gently.Likewise, I really missed Melissa, and there was no loophole to escape from this predicament. Not only that, but I raised my fist as I stared back at the mirror again I punched it countless times not minding the pains I would feel of being hurt on the fist again. Furthermore, I was already hurt, so hurting my fists again didn't mean anything to me.A flash of amber lighted my eyes as my wolf growled. I triedI roared in anger as I continued to punch until I was satisfied. I fell to the ground, as b

Melisa's POVI lifted my head slightly as I stared at Princess Lyra. A smile pushed my lips as I responded trying to be polite as well.“Hi Lyra” I said in a calm but soft tone.“It's nice to meet you, again. I guess I met you sometime ago” Lyra said as she smiled “Yes, we met sometime ago in the Alphas Penthouse. It's a pleasure. However, you look stunning today” I said admiring her beauty.“Ohh, thank you so much. You are beautiful as well” she said“Thank you so much” I replied A smile pushed my lips.“Congratulations once again Princess Lyra” I said as I stared back into her eyes. She stared at me like I was deal meant to be eaten.“Thank you so much” she answered The Alpha's watched as we had our conversations as they smiled.“What about the Grand Prince? He is meant to join the Alpha's stable” Alpha Redwyn asked.“I had instructed that he saw few of the Alphas off as they left. He needed to get their blessings. You know how it's done. But he should be here soon” the Alpha rep
