Impossible.

I had been moving in circles, searching for a rogue camp that was just south of the Moon claw pack.

Whoever ran this group was smart, hidden between the mountains and trees, surrounded by water. The mist had always been their shield, hiding them from the eyes of those who sought to hurt them.

As we moved further into the camp, I could feel it, the slow buzz at the back of my mind. The air had a faint scent of lavender.

Rosanne.

She was here or had been here.

From a distance, I noticed two children playing, their little shrieks filled the air. A smile tugged at my lips, something about them felt familiar.

“Aidy! No!” one hissed.

It had happened so fast.

I felt him before I could see. A little had grabbed my leg, trying to hold himself back from falling over. I dropped down out of instinct, my hand grabbing his tiny shoulders to hold him steady.

I froze, my eyes staring at the dark brown eyes that felt like I was staring at a younger version of myself.
