Lola P.O.V

Jamie and my stepmother, Larissa, were both out, so the house was empty. When I arrived, the kitchen was buzzing with activity. I presumed that the servants were preparing lunch.

I rushed upstairs to Calista’s bedroom. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. As I waited at the door of Calista’s room, a strange noise caught my attention.

My curiosity got the best of me, and I couldn’t resist opening the door a little. There was no one in there, and the noise seemingly came from the bathroom.

When I took a peek into the bathroom, I saw two people making out inside. I had to take a step back to catch my breath. Wait—hold up. Wasn’t that my boyfriend, Ethan, whom I had dated for three years? And my half-sister, Calista? My mind seemed to have exploded and my body froze. Wasn’t Calista disfigured after being burned in her apartment?

But why was she at home without a scratch on her? And why were they together here? How long had the two of them been seeing each other? I couldn’t bear to look at them any longer.

So I turned my back, shaking with anger. My mind went blank as I realized that my beloved boyfriend of three years and my own sister were cheating on me.

I struggled to steady myself. As I turned around, I thought, I must leave this filthy place now.

Yet my legs went weak and I stumbled against the bathroom door. The noise I made caught them off guard, and they stopped their dirty little game to turn their heads toward me.

They both looked like deer caught in headlights. “Get the hell out of here!” Calista quickly responded, grabbing a bar of soap and throwing it at me. She then wrapped herself up in a towel, her face boiling with both anger and embarrassment.

Ethan’s expression darkened slightly, and he quickly picked up his clothes and put them on. My mind was in a complete fog, but I managed to snap back to reality before staring at the two of them.

I asked, my voice shaking, “Why did you guys do this?” Ethan turned his head away, slightly hesitating to answer. Meanwhile, Calista’s initial panic had dissipated.

She had her bare arm wrapped around Ethan’s chest as she smirked at me and said, “Because of love.” These two are despicable. Zoe was raging inside me. She, too, was furious.

If I wasn’t a half-wolf and unable to show myself, I would have already torn these two jerks apart. Ethan is my boyfriend. He loves me. I rushed up to choke Calista’s neck, screaming, “You’re the one who seduced him, right?” I didn’t squeeze her neck too hard, but Calista deliberately put on a painful expression. “Ethan saved me. She’s trying to kill me. I’m going to strangle you to death.” Her lousy acting was getting on my nerves, and hence I tightened my grasp around her neck.

As we continued to tussle in the bathroom, Ethan finally decided to step in. He must have noticed that Calista’s face was already contorted in pain. He grabbed my hand and pulled me away from Calista. “Enough.” His force was so strong that it made me lose my balance. I ended up hitting my forehead on the sink.

Fresh blood instantly coursed down my cheek; a pang of pain spread across my head. I was downstruck. I didn’t expect that Ethan would push me for Calista. It seemed that he didn’t expect me to get hurt either.

He was stupefied for a moment before he stepped forward to help me up. But I pushed his hand away. I quickly recomposed myself, and despite the pain I held on to the sink with one hand and covered my bleeding forehead with the other. As I struggled to get up from the floor, I glared at Calista, who was pretending to be petrified, and I couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Despair had consumed my entirety at that moment. “Is this why you lied that you were burned so you could trick me and make me marry into the Nightfang family?”

“Well now, without me, I guess you can spend every second with this jerk here at home. You wouldn’t even need to lock the door.” I turned my eyes to Ethan, disappointment dripping from my words as I spoke.

“Ethan, you told me you’re the beta of the Blue Moon army, and hence couldn’t date a half-breed like me. So I left you on my own accord, thinking it was for the best. But how could you end up with Calista? Don’t you feel guilty?” It never crossed my mind that Ethan’s excuse was just a way to get rid of me. They were all liars.

Calista chimed in, “Ethan and I have been together for a year. I know it’s wrong, but our love for each other is genuine. We can’t bear to be separated. You’re my little sister, and I don’t feel great about stealing your boyfriend either. That’s why I convinced our parents to lie and say I was disfigured in a fire. Just so you could take my place and marry into the Nightfang family. I stole Ethan from you, so I’m giving Ragnar to you.”

Now that you’ve married into the Nightfangs—or even—right—nonsense.

My fury boiled over, and my entire being quivered with anger, my teeth clenched so hard they might shatter. I glared at Calista in disbelief.

“You loathe some woman? How dare you steal someone else’s man and then have the audacity to talk about it? Don’t you feel any remorse? What are you thinking? You’re obviously too cowardly to marry Ragnar yourself. But instead of facing your fears, you concocted this twisted scheme to foist him onto me. You are just wicked and shameless.”

When the Nightfangs delivered the betrothal gifts to the Silverfang family and demanded the hand of Calista, my father was gripped with terror and immediately set his sights on me—his illegitimate daughter. Despite my vehement refusal, he resorted to every possible measure to coerce me into marrying into the family by making up a fraudulent tale that Calista’s face was disfigured.

“It appears that you’re not completely dim-witted. Indeed, I fancy Ethan, and I’m determined to wed him. One way or another, Father will make you marry someone other than Ethan. As for the Nightfangs’ betrothal, our family did not have the right to say no to them. And hence we had no choice. And you, my dear Lola, happened to be the convenient sacrificial lamb in this game.”

Calista suddenly looked at me with surprise before she added, “By the way, there’s a rumor that Ragnar is sick and has killed all his previous mates. No woman who marries him can survive more than a day. Why are you still alive after three days?” She then sneered mockingly. “But don’t get too proud about it just yet. Because, although you are still alive now, you’ll soon die in the Nightfang family.”

I was so vexed that I gritted my teeth and tried to ignore her.

During my rage, Calista leaned in close and stared at me intensely. “Blame your mother. She shouldn’t have seduced my father and given birth to you. That’s what you should do as our father’s illegitimate daughter.”

“And your face…” Calista turned to Ethan and chuckled, “Do you know why we look exactly the same? It’s because—”

“Shut up!” I shouted, swinging my hand toward her face. But Ethan grabbed my wrist just before I could slap Calista’s face. His expression was cold.

“Lola, it’s too late. Don’t fight against what you can’t change. Let me take care of your wound, and then I’ll send you back to the Nightfang family.”

Lola pov Tossing and turning in bed, I caught sight of the clock on the wall, its hands pointing at the witching hour of 01:00 in the morning. At this moment, the mansion was so quiet that one could hear the sound of a needle falling on the ground. As a gust of wind blew by, the window screens fluttered and made a delicate sound. After what had happened in the prayer room, I couldn't help but feel a chill. I tightened the blanket around me at once. I thought about turning on the light, only to remember that it had been tampered with and wouldn't shine. At night, Agnes had said that I wasn't allowed to turn on the light when Ragnar was around. The next moment, scenes of Ethan and Calista being intimate, and Calista's vicious words replaced my thoughts. I shook my head and closed my eyes. I really couldn't think about any of these anymore. Suddenly, a knocking sound came from the door. I turned away from the door. Instead of getting up, I curled up under the blanket and wiped awa

  • Bride For The Cursed Alpha    The Familiar ghost

Lola POV Two servants immediately came from the door and dragged me to the backyard. “What are you doing?” I was hauled to the prayer room on the west side of the building. The prayer room was more like a medium-sized church than an actual prayer room, and the absence of any religious items only accentuated the purity and nobility of the room with its snow-white walls and large, transparent windows. The center of the room held a massive, polygonal table with various objects adorning each corner—pocket watches, rings, glasses, chains, and even withered roses stacked on one another, almost touching the ceiling. It was a solemn, dignified space filled with mystery. As I gazed in awe at the impressive table, the two maids brought me to my knees, forcing me to kneel on the floor. Agnes appeared before me with an emotionless face, stating, “Madam Calista, you will be here to reflect for a day and night.” With that, she turned on her heel and left. I was dumbstruck. A whole da

As he drove, Ethan's mind couldn’t help but wander to Lola and the man from earlier. Despite being the one who asked for the breakup, the sight of Lola already getting cozy with another man stung him with humiliation. After all, they had been together for three years, and as a member of the most prestigious family in the city, Ethan expected Lola to feel the pain of their breakup for at least a few weeks, if not months. But what if Calista was right? What if Lola had already been seeing this man even while they were still dating, and had simply been waiting for Ethan to initiate the breakup so she wouldn’t have to play the villain in the end? In the central tower of the Livingstone Army, Agnes, the person in charge of all the Nightfang family affairs, frowned. Her eyes were not as sharp as they used to be, and hence she could not make out the outline of the picture. Without hesitation, she turned to Taylor, who was sitting with the Queen and sipping tea. Taylor was Ragnar’s cousi

Lola P O.V I glared at him and asked through gritted teeth, “Ethan, is this how you feel? Did you really fall in love with her a year ago?” Ethan looked at her and eventually nodded. “I’m sorry.” His apology broke my heart. No wonder when I cried to him a week ago about having to marry Ragnar, that pained expression of his seemed so fake. “My little sister, now that you heard it yourself from Ethan, are you going to give up for good?” Calista smirked, intentionally leaning into his arms and kissing his lips. Even the most cowardly person on Earth knew that they shouldn’t sit still and do nothing in the face of such a provocation. “Nice try, Calista, but I’m not about to let you and Ethan get away with this. You think I’m just going to roll over and take it? No way. Even if it means going down together, I’m going to do it.” “What do you mean? What are you going to do?” Calista’s face darkened. “I will return to the Queen and reveal this deceitful scheme plotted by you and Etha

  • Bride For The Cursed Alpha    Going Home

RAGNAR P.O.V The first time I laid eyes on my newly wedded mate, Calista, I could immediately sense that my wolf, Lucas, had become more unstable. In fact, it had been silent for a long time due to the curse. This was an extremely rare phenomenon. “I heard you can cure my illness,” I said coldly, sizing up Calista in the darkness. “I’m talking to you.” I leaned in, using my fingers to lift her chin and force her to meet my gaze. As I looked into her eyes, something passed through my body. This feeling was the same as when I first saw her picture. For a moment, I saw something in Calista’s eyes that reminded me of that specific woman. In truth, I already had the same feeling when I saw her picture, otherwise I wouldn’t have agreed to my mother’s arrangement to marry her. Knowing full well that they two were not the same person, I still chose to marry this girl called Calista. Strangely enough, in the first second that I saw her, I felt an unexplainable impulse and desire burning
