Amber’s POV

The first thing I did after we arrived at home is to take a long shower.

Showers had always been like a safe haven to me. And after everything that happened back at moonstone pack, I needed to wash all the troubles away. Water was supposed to be the answer to everything, but no matter how long I stand under it, there was no running from my problems.

I needed to interrogate Lydia or at least be present when Alpha Dale interrogated her and Morgan.

Then I needed to speak with Noah.

Did he settle in his room well? Did Janine speak with him and properly explain Alpha Dale’s reasons for bringing him here with us? Noah was a levelheaded person; I was sure he’d understand.

What then was I worried about?

Maybe it was because we were so close to Derrick than I’d like. Every step we took was taking us closer and closer to catching him and that was what worried me. I didn’t think I was ready to face him again.

The last time I did, it had taken every strength in me just to loo

Dale’s POV I must have slept like a freaking monster because the next morning, I found myself being shaken awake before the sun has even risen to head down to the gallows to interrogate our new prisoners. I managed to stop myself from yanking Trent’s arm straight out of its socket the moment I was conscious enough to realize what the asshole was even doing in my room. “We waited the entire day for you yesterday. We are in the middle of a war, Lycan King. We’ll appreciate it if you can show some restraints some times. I’ve prepped the prisoners again and the council is waiting so lets get moving.” I threw my pillow at him as he retreated, but he batted it away as if it was nothing, stalking to the door as he called out, “Also, Noah is ready for us. We have to finish all this in a day, plus I’m tired od being the only responsible one.” “Asshole,” I muttered under my breath but still rolled out of bed, careful not to disturb Amber who was still in a deep sleep. It was too early to

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   Going Home

Amber’s POV It took only a few words from Alpha Dale for everything to shift and finally, we were leaving. Returning home with triumph and maybe a trump card. Moonstone’s pack house was swept in a current of motions as Alpha Dale continued dishing out orders. “Secure the prisoners!” he called out. “Make sure everything is this room is documented and stored properly!” his hand hadn’t left my waist since we stepped out of Marcus’s secret room. I could almost feel the weight of his fury which was just as much as his relief. We got what we came for. We got Yeti’s evidence to stop the trial and clear her name but we got something else too. Evidence that a war was coming and that we might not be the least prepared for it. Alpha Marcus had been doing so many things behind his back and Alpha Dale suspected he wasn’t the only one. If Derrick managed to manipulate more Alphas, then who could he trust? Was his council safe? I glanced at Noah who was speaking to Janine in hushed tones. Hi

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   Caught In The Act

Dale’s POV Interrogating Marcus in his office had been a test of my patience, and my wolf’s restraint. A test which we had passed only by a margin and it was all because of his lies. They grated on my nerves and there was a point where I felt like strangling him. He played dumb to everything, shrugging his shoulders every now and then like a clueless fool. Except the man wasn’t clueless at all and he was far from a fool. I was finally beginning to understand why Derrick chose this man as his substitute to lead Moonstone. If I didn’t have my ability, this man could have convinced me black was yellow and I wouldn’t argue. He lied so effortlessly that my skin crawled. My wolf had been at the edge of madness at how much I’d been holding him back from taking a pound of flesh for all the lies that came out of Marcus’s mouth. How had I not noticed all this before? How had I not read the fine lies with which were his every words? And if Kevin had not walked in, I would have let my wolf

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   Hidden Affairs

Amber’s POV A room wasn’t supposed to be here. Most importantly, we weren’t supposed to be here but, this was… my mouth hung open. “What the –” I whipped around as the groaned shut. “What the fuck is this place?” Noah looked just as shocked as me. His eyes roamed around the place, taking in everything and logging them in. “I don’t – Alpha Marcus must have been keeping this place a secret. Goddess, what are all these?” I watched as he moved quietly as if afraid to disturb anything. There was a huge screen on the wall that displayed frozen camera feeds, each labeled with small texts; Cell 1, Cell 2, Cell 3…The images were grainy, but unmistakable. Prisoners. More than a dozen of them in different cells all being displayed on the screen. Noah inhaled sharply as he stared at them. “It’s almost impossible to see with the darkness,” he shivered. “But I recognize that place. That was where they kept me and Kevin. He was watching us all along.” He stepped closer to the screen and tappe

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   Break And Enter

Amber’s POV I was thankful to Noah for pulling me out of that place if not, I had no idea what I’d have done to that Beta. I pulled at my bottom lip angrily. Even though the room was far behind us, I still shook with anger. Noah snickered beside me and I grunted. “What’s so funny? He was indirectly bullying you, do you know that?” “Of course,” he answered with a wide grin on his face. “But who cares? He was trying to protect you. That’s why I’m happy. You have a lot of people in your life who care about you and your wellbeing. Who love and want to protect you at all costs.” He sighed. “It puts me at ease, Amber. For a long time, I was worried about you but now I’ve seen that I don’t have to worry anymore. You’ve found your place. Where you belong. A family.” I blinked back the tears that gathered in my eyes and looked away. My heart warmed at his words but I didn’t want to show how affected I was by it. I huffed and shoved my hands in my jacket pocket. “Doesn’t mean he has to b
