Amber’s POV

I woke up in the giant bed of our new room feeling well-rested and a lot calmer and more settled than I was since the attack. I could hardly tell if it was because my wolf was pleased to reunite with her mate or if it was just a mental thing now that I finally got some decent rest.

But I was so fucking relieved.

Alpha Dale was still asleep beside me, the blanket pushed down to barely cover the curve of his ass. I let myself enjoy the view because he was freaking gorgeous.

The curtains were thick enough that no sunlight reached us, but I could tell with how good I was feeling that it was definitely morning and we slept for good twelve hours.

With a grunt, Alpha Dale rolled over and popped one eye open. “Did you have a good night, lovie?” he drawled, and I flashed him a smile.

“Really? I guess it was that good?” he propped his elbow on the bed, pulling himself up to a half-sitting, half-lying position. “But really, how do you feel?”

I shrugged. “I don’t think I feel

Amber’s POV I reached out, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re being too harsh on yourself, Yeti.” I said softly. “I know that you don’t see yourself as innocent right now because of something you couldn’t avoid, but I know you. And deep down you know it too, that you will never intentionally hurt anyone.” Yeti swallowed and nodded but she still had that guilty look on her face. I settled back against the pillow, closing my eyes as she began to tell us the same story she told Alpha Dale and the others. Even if I had heard it more than a hundred times now, I still listened carefully. The story was short but kind of complicated. Yeti never knew her mother was the same person as Moonstone’s priestess, but she was always suspicious of it and it became clear to her the night when I killed a councilman and lost consciousness. Although her mother had always stressed the fact that her working for Derrick was not something she did willingly, Yeti always had her doubts w

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   Frustration

Amber’s POV Yeti had been crying and it wasn’t just the silent tears. Her puffy eyes stared up at Beta Trent and the hurt I saw in them squeezed at my heart. It’s like I could see her thoughts and she was thinking back to that time when we had been a team. She looked betrayed. “If that doesn’t prove my innocence,” she said softly, standing up to the bed in her full height. “What will? Will my death prove it?” her palm flashed and a knife appeared in it which she pointed at her chest. “If I kill myself now, will it prove anything to see and those darn old men?” I flinched. Fabian stumbled forward his eyes wide with fear. “Yeti, No!” Beta Trent’s throat moved but he didn’t say anything. His eyes darted to Kevin who had broken concentration from his laptop and was now staring at us with wide eyes. My hand shook and all I could look at was the knife she was pointing to her chest. “Yeti…” I called softly. “Please…” Beta Trent scoffed, reverting back to his impassive expression. “Wi

Amber’s POV A shiver ran down my spine as I thought about it. Alpha Dale was right. The relationship between the witch and Derrick did go far back. And she had told us that the witch was the same person as Moonstone’s priestess. I recalled a night I had seen them together at the edge of the forest. That night during the Culling which brought me together with Alpha Dale. They had seemed closer than usual but then, at the time, nothing had seemed off about it. Even now, nothing was off about it. Then why did it bug me? Beta Trent winced and nodded. “I feel guilty that none of us realized what the hell was going on. Donn was acting even more power-hungry than usual and we kept that witch by our side the entire time. You’re right, Dale. She could be more than his henchmen, maybe she’s the one behind the whole thing all long!” Alpha Dale had told me that once Yeti was okay, she was going to be moved to a more secure room. But I didn’t realize they were going to move her so quickly an

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   Missed You

Dale’s POV Although we only spent a few hours apart from each other, I was already missing my mate. When Izzy called to say that they were on their way back with Amber, I went down to the dinning hall to shop through the kitchen there, grabbing whatever supplies I could to prepare lunch for Amber. I already knew that my mate was easy to please when it came to meals though, thank the goddess, but I still put extra care in preparing the food for her. A loaded sandwich with trimmings had her beaming at me as I kicked the bedroom door shut behind me. I was making plans to move us to a more permanent bedroom since our sacred space had been tainted and desecrated by Mallory. Thinking about her now made me want to dig out her corpse and kill her again, just for the sake of it. I sighed as I saw Amber looking fucking adorable sitting in the middle of the giant bed in one of my old jerseys and sweatpants. I swallowed. Goddess, she was everything I wanted and needed. “Oh, I love bacon a

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   Off Guard

Amber’s POV Even after we return to Free City and stop in front of Alpha Dale’s pack house, I still couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched. Alpha Dale helped me out of the car, wrapping his arms around me to help with the travel sickness and once he felt I was getting better, he moved away from me. I glanced around the garage where we were packed hoping I could spot something out of place, but the only thing I saw was Beta Trent, staring directly at me. The way he was looking at me made me want to climb out of my skin and run far away. Although, just a few weeks ago, we had been working together and even after that, he had quietly acknowledged me, being around him still gave me the jee-bees. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that deep inside me, I knew he agreed with the Council that I wasn’t good enough for the Lycan King. A girl like me with no background, even if my wolf was the strongest and rarest. I swallowed roughly and just stared back at him like an idiot

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   The Ambush

Amber’s POV With my ability, I could somehow tell that there was just two people in the house. If there was someone else. Alpha Dale and Silas would sniff them out. The lake house was luxurious and it was very clear that Alpha Dale’s family weren’t just rich, they had a sort of wealth that encompassed the entire werewolf community. Everything was perfectly designed, and even though there wasn’t anything particularly flashy or extravagant, it still oozed money. Beta Trent moved through the house with a type of precision that only came from knowing the layout intimately. It made me wonder how often they spent time in any other properties. It couldn’t be that often since for the one year I was with them, we never went anywhere. In under a minute, we were staring Donn and Celia down in one of the many parlor rooms on the first floor. It hadn’t been that long since I last saw Donn, but he was unrecognizable now. His skin looked tight over his bones and he lost so much weight that he

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   A Lead

Amber’s POV I was tired and sleepy as hell. While Alpha Dale had been busy walking from one councilmember to the other and interrogating Yeti’s mother, I had been busy with tracing who the actual spy was so we could finally clear Yeti’s name. If the charge weren’t dropped. We had worked till the early hours of the morning and just when I had begun dozing off, the computer geek guy announced that there was a lead! And he didn’t just pinpoint where we could find our spy, but where Derrick and Donn could be as well. It was a vacation lake house just outside of Free city. One of Alpha Dale’s properties which he didn’t use often. We left for the Lake house the next morning and I only got an hour of sleep. Our computer guy had enough intel to find the whereabouts of the security cameras and surveillance around the house Donn, Derrick and our spy was holed up in, so we already knew how far we had to travel to remain undetected. There was a long hike ahead of us, but with a deep brea

  • Bride Of The Lycan King   A Breather

Dale’s POV Once I knew for sure that Amber was safely in Janine’s office, I let my beta know that I was heading out for the day. I wasn’t one to check-in and report where I was going to be but, thanks to the current circumstances, we were all at high alert. The fact that a witch had been able to infiltrate our minds, helping our enemy get what they want with us what something I was very much ashamed of. Finding my uncle and Derrick was not just a necessity now, it was what had to be done to prove to my subjects that I wasn’t weak and I could protect them. And now with the council hounding Yeti. It wasn’t just disrespecting me. it was a threat to my title and one that I wasn’t going to let go that easily. “Do you think going to see Graves is really a good idea?” Silas said, keeping his eyes glued to the phone in his hand as he questioned me as if he was nonchalant about the answer. But I knew that was far from the truth. As chief security officer, he shouldered plenty of responsi
