Chapter 2: Tangible Reason.

Chapter 2: Tangible Reason

Missy wasted no more second after the call, jumping off the bed as she dashed right into her closet not before obtaining a slightly big and wide traveling bag from a corner inside her room, zipping it open and relocating some of her clothes from where they were hanged right into the bag.

Determination filled her eyes, overshadowing how nervous she’s feeling about her plan coming to success. The only way her future is guaranteed and secured is getting out of this house that wanted to destroy it saying they’re doing it something good.

She just can’t imagine her life with Tyler Locke. He’s a monster, everybody knows that, he won’t only did what he did to his other wives to her, he would also wreck her young growing life. She just doesn’t want that. How could they allow the marriage, what prompted her father, her mother is less to be blamed as she seemed coerced to support the decision.

But her father, he was pretty grounded and determined to marry her off not only to a stranger she has never met once or even has an idea what he looks like. He is a popular tycoon in the city, she has never for once googled him up to know what the monster actually looks like. She bet he is ugly.

The only sketchy thing about it was what her father saw that made him decide the only option is to marry his only daughter and child off to a man termed a monster. How classic.

She can as well jump in front of a train if truly there’s no option left.

She heard clearly of the news that backed the separation of him and his second wife, not to even talk about the third one.

Barring the age differences between them, a man’s personality is what a woman needs to be comfortable with before they engage in a love relationship.

That use to be Missy’s quote about those couples she’s seen multiple times on TV that are far older than each other and together. It could differs from the husband to the wife or the wife to the husband.

However, what Missy knew about Tyler’s personality is enough to make her pick death over a union between her and him. She doesn’t really know much, but the world has told her much or exactly what is needed to be known to run off the earth just to be away from him.

Yes, she may not have seen his face before or met him once even, but with what the world paint him out to be, she can very well wish for a day that they would meet never to happen. Thus, tonight of there introduction won’t be happening like her father wanted.

Her mental image of him is ugly and appalling to the sight, for someone with that reputation, he sure has appearance issues. She was sure of that.

Done with getting the bag packed and ready, she went over to her window that was already broken. A weird expression morphed on her face as she opened it more widely, peeping over to the ground. A sigh escaped her lips before tossing her bag outside the rails, the heavy object fell per the gravity, falling down the duplex building, her face scrunching up at how badly it landed. But she could bother less, something far greater is for her to worry about.

The knock on her door snapped back her attention to the room, quickly composing herself she brought her head back in, closing the broken window back up and walking over to the door to go attend to whoever was knocking.

“Yeah who is there?” She asked the moment she got there, her hand on the knob but not twisting it open for the guest to gain entrance. It could be her mom or dad, and right at the moment both faces are the least of what she wants to see at all.

“It’s me, Missy, I came to check on you and see if you’re alright. Are you okay now? And can we talk?” Her mother’s voice came up like she guessed, her presence setting Missy off the edge a little rage seeped into her facial features.

She literally told her she wants to be alone. She can’t help the spite she felt towards her because she just plain agreed with her father for marrying their only daughter out to a monster.

Did she even attack the decision? Or just stood there and let her husband chose a path of destruction and pointed it for her daughter to start walking on.

“Yes, I’m perfectly fine, I just need some time alone to get my head straight and in line with you and your husband’s selfish decision.” She replied, the will to sound normal straining and faltering as she came out rather too rude than normal.

“Honey, you have got to understand that this is for your own good and for your future also.” Mrs Lane replied her in her soft tone, that one could easily sniff out her sympathy for her daughter.

But what can she do, she doesn’t really have a say in the matter. It was more of a final choice than a decision. Or was it really?

“My own future, my own good, oh please did I complain to you I want you deciding for it or that I’m having problem with the both? And yes, getting your eighteen years old only daughter married to a guy given the term monster seems like the perfect decision for my good and future. Kudos mom and dad, you’ve just earn yourself the best parents of the year, your applause would come in later. Now if you do not have anything else to say, I’d greatly appreciate my privacy to wallow and loathe the reality that you and your husband recently initiated in my existence.” Missy spoke with so much resentment that her intense glare on her door could be felt even by her mother who was opposite and wasn’t really seeing her; just hearing her. It was vivid in her voice how much hatred she abhors currently towards them. It could build a mansion if it was money.

“Alright, but your father wants you to know that the dinner between you and the Locke’s family is scheduled to hold at 9pm sharp. It’s 6:30pm already, he wants to know if you’re getting ready already, because you have to look your best in order to entice him further. Goodbye now, Darling. I’m once again sorry for putting you up for this.” With that said, her figure restricted backing away from the door and exiting the vicinity.

The soon as Missy heard her departure she rushed back inside, grabbing her phone and credit cards and other valuable assets of hers that fits in her small purse. She rushed changing the gown she was claded in.

She wore a rugged fitted tiny jeans quickly instead and a pink customized cropped hoodie that had her name boldly scripted on it with a crown on top the M, she untied her bun releasing her long straight mid-waist black hair.

She moved out of her room, walking down the hallway and talking the route that leads downstairs.

Missy did her best, walking out of sight and casually as she approach the door with fast pace. But her cover was soon blown as she heard the male voice called her name.

“Missy!” The deep voice had called, halting Missy’s steps from moving further and having her figure turn around into seeing the man standing feet away from her.

“Dad!” Missy called back in a casual tone, a smile popping on her face. Dang, that was suspicious, she is mad at him and suppose to stay mad.

Davis Lane released a silent snort because why on earth would a girl he just told she’s getting married suddenly be smiling at him after she initially took the news badly when shared to her.

“Where are you going?” He questioned, his gaze squinted at her. He knew something is off with her.

“To break things off with Bryan, I had told him I won’t be coming to the party again and we should meet somewhere else-“

“Things like that can be done over the phone, call him and explain everything to him, I don’t need you away when we have just….” Davis spanned, his eyes moving over to his wrist and checking the watch tied around it. “We have just two more hours for the dinner.” He told her, cutting her off and wiping the smile off her face. A smile that was never really there.

“No I can’t do that, please just let me go, I promise I won’t be long. It is simply to break things off and come back, doing it physically is a full closure he needed.” Missy pleaded, her palms coming together in front of him with tears already gathering under her eyes. The least she want was her plan failing, she has to get out of this house.

“He could wait, I don’t find him important so you shouldn’t. Come now darling, I have had a maid get you the perfect dress for tonight. Come-“

“Are you this callous? Wicked so much that you’re marrying your only daughter off to a monster and you’re fucking okay with it!” Missy found herself yelling at her dad, tears pooling down her eyes already as she speaks.

“I won’t have you disrespect me in that manner.” Davis scolded immediately, his facial taken a new solid look as it squeezed and darkened.

“Tell me dad, why are you marrying me off huh? Tell me, I want to know the fucking reason you’re giving your daughter off to a monster. Tell me right this moment or I’m gonna to kill myself, fucking tell me!”

“Okay!” Davis snapped, his eyes bloodshot as he gazed widely at his daughter with anger.

“Fine, you little piece of problem, I lost everything, every single thing, all of it, all that makes up the wealth of Davis Lane, I lost it all. And you know me to well that emotions are something I don’t work with so why try to force it out of me, I loathe the fact that the only way to get myself back standing up is giving you away to the Locke for good, yes I’m strict and cold with you, but Missy I’m freaking loosing it inside, that my innocent eighteen years old daughter have to suffer from what I’m going through, but I have no option because I promise you the best of life. I took the deal, that you go spend some time with them and when I’m good again, you’re filing directly for divorce. I’m sorry Missy, I’m deeply sorry but you have to help me out. This is not my fault, this happened all of a sudden and there was no other option or any choice left for me. I’m sorry but there is nothing I could have done about it except what I’m doing now.”

Davis let out, emotions displayed widely on his face as he spoke. A sting of tear lingering down his left eye as he wipe it away before it could make a chance of notice. His gaze moving away from Missy to hide the tears foaming more under his eyes.

“What!” Missy voiced out finally, “What the hell!”
