ANWEN'S POV

I wasn’t sure Fenric would take me seriously.

But out of the three of them, he was the least dismissive—the least likely to shut me down before I had even finished speaking.

That didn’t mean he would agree, though. He might find the idea laughable. He might tease me for it. Or worse, turn it into another source of amusement.

And yet, he was my only chance.

Fenric listened more than most.

So I took a breath and forced myself to meet his gaze.

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 78: The Forgotten Name

ANWEN'S POVI remained sitting upright against the headboard, my breathing still uneven as the name echoed through my mind like a bell struck too hard."Azara."I whispered it again, softer this time, testing how it felt on my tongue. It felt strangely familiar, enough to make my skin prickle. I could have sworn I'd heard it before—perhaps in passing, perhaps in a book, perhaps whispered somewhere I'd paid no attention to at the time.I squeezed my eyes shut and searched my memory, following the thread wherever it led.At first, there was nothing but fragments of the dream—the layered voices, the woman's gentle smile beneath the ancient fir tree, the soft glow surrounding her. Then, little by little, another memory began to surface.Liberation Night. The celebration that fell on my birthday. The very same night the last Radiant had been killed. My eyes flew open. That was where I'd heard the name. The traveling troupe had performed the tale of the Scions' rebellion against the Radiant

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 77: A Warning in the Woods

ANWEN'S POVI found myself lying on the forest floor, the cold earth pressed against my back and the scent of moss lingering in the air.For several heartbeats, I had no idea how I had gotten there. My mind was shrouded in fog, as though I had been asleep for a very long time. I lay still, listening to the whisper of leaves overhead and the distant song of birds. Then my memories returned in fragments.Fenric—lost to the full moon's spell, chains broken, wild. Myself, claimed against the oak tree. The last thing I remembered was succumbing to exhaustion as Fenric knotted me, his warm release spilling endlessly inside me.Slowly, I pushed myself upright."Fenric?" My voice drifted through the trees. No answer.I frowned. Had he abandoned me here after everything that had happened?Unlikely.Fenric could be insufferable, but he didn't strike me as someone capable of leaving me alone—even when I pushed him away, let alone in the middle of the woods.I rose to my feet, brushing the dirt f

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 76: A Rising Threat

RHYDAN'S POVBrammon and I stormed out of Blackreach the moment Wells delivered the message. We didn't even bother putting on shirts. We just moved, already bracing ourselves for whatever news Corbin had dragged himself here to deliver.Fenric caught up with us on the spiral staircase, his heavy footsteps echoing behind ours. Without a word, the three of us descended together. We passed through the fortress gates and headed straight for the heart of the labyrinth, where Corbin was waiting. He stood in the middle of the clearing, brushing black feathers from his shoulder, his expression an odd mix of amusement and confusion."What the hell is all this?" he asked, sweeping an arm at our surroundings. "For a moment, I wasn't sure this was still the Minotaur King's labyrinth."I followed the gesture, though I already knew exactly what he meant. This was the first time Brammon had allowed anyone into this part of the labyrinth since construction began.Even knowing what he'd been building

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 75: Full Moon Aftermath

RHYDAN'S POVThe chair creaked softly as I shifted my weight, the sound barely registering over Brammon's relentless pacing. Back and forth, back and forth, his boots striking the stone floor like a war drum."Sit down," I hissed. "You're wearing a groove in the floor."Brammon ignored me. His hands flexed at his sides, opening and closing into fists. "It's been almost two hours," he fumed.I kept my posture relaxed, one arm draped over the back of the chair, my legs stretched out before me. It was a lie. Every muscle in my body was coiled tight, thrumming with tension I refused to let show.My gaze drifted to the bed. The sheets were still tangled from the night before. I could still smell her on the linens—that familiar blend of fruity and floral sweetness that was unmistakably Anwen.I closed my eyes, and the memory surged unbidden, hot and vivid. She'd been lying between us, Brammon and me, her body limp and sated, her breath coming in soft, satisfied sighs. Her skin had been flus

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 74: Knotted (Part 2)

FENRIC'S POVWe stayed like that for a long moment. The oak's rough bark pressed into my back, but I barely felt it—not with Anwen's warmth resting against my chest. The knot hadn't softened. Not even a little. We're still locked together, joined in a way that made my possessive instincts sing. I let my eyes drift shut, exhaustion pulling at me, lulled by the steady thrum of her heartbeat against my own. Then the ground trembled.A low vibration rumbled through the earth and into my spine. The air shifted next, growing thick with heat, carrying the scent of smoke and fury.I smiled against her hair. They were coming. The tremors intensified. Branches shuddered overhead, and the forest's smaller creatures fled into the undergrowth.I knew that particular brand of rage. That heat.Brammon and Rhydan were tearing through the forest, tracking us by scent and fury.Judging by the force of their approach, they were absolutely livid—likely terrified out of their wits after discovering I'd br

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 73: Knotted (Part 1)

FENRIC'S POVSomething suddenly broke the spell of my frenzy. One moment, I had Anwen pinned against the oak, her head scraping bark as I drove into her without thought or restraint. The next, clarity crashed through me like ice water.I didn't know what had caused it or where it had come from. Yet it felt warm. Gentle. Ancient, as if some forgotten magic had stirred—or perhaps the moon's curse was finally loosening its grip as dawn crept ever closer.Whatever it was, it cracked through the red fog in my skull. I could think again.I blinked sweat from my eyes, my rhythm faltering.Every female we'd claimed had been healthier than Anwen—stronger, bigger, their bodies far more resilient than her fragile frame. Yet even with care, they had screamed. They had broken. Some had not survived the night. The memory curdled in my gut.Was I doing the same to her?She could be begging me to stop right now, and I wouldn't hear it through the moon-madness. She could be bleeding, torn, limp, dying

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 53: Tension in the Room

ANWEN'S POVI nearly fell out of my chair at Fenric's announcement. So this was what he had meant earlier when he'd said we had a "big day ahead."I had assumed he was talking about another task. Another tour through some forgotten corner of Blackreach. Or perhaps a lesson on records, ledgers, and

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 43: Twenty-One Years Ago

ANWEN'S POVThe moment Brammon pushed open the balcony doors, both Rhydan’s and Fenric’s gazes snapped toward me. Heat flooded my face so quickly that I barely noticed the cold evening wind sweeping across the balcony.I lifted my eyes just long enough to glance at them before immediately looking a

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 39: Paragon Square

ANWEN'S POVI kept my head down as I walked, lost in my thoughts. I was nearly at my chambers when a shadow stretched across the floor in front of me.I looked up.Rhydan stood there with his arms folded, his expression as hard as ever. I immediately stepped aside to let him pass, but he spoke befo

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 35: Playing with Fire

FENRIC'S POVI genuinely thought that after the full moon incident—and after I abandoned her in that cursed maze—Anwen wouldn’t want anything to do with me.So when she asked me to take her outside today, I almost thought I’d misheard her.But she meant it.And I agreed before she could change her
